Police in Oceanside, Calif., confirmed Wednesday that former San Diego Chargers linebacker Junior Seau died of a gunshot wound to the chest. He was 43.
Police said they are investigating his death as a possible suicide.
According to police, a woman, who indicated she was Seau's girlfriend, called police at about 9:35 a.m. to report she had returned home and found Seau unconscious in a bedroom suffering from a gunshot wound.

This is horrible. I can't really say much having to deal with death the pas couple months. What I can say is that unless his mother specifically requested to talk to the media, she shouldn't have had to. That was heartbreaking, and hard to watch.
RIP #55.

Pretty sure there's another thread on this. Maybe they can be merged. I wasn't a big fan of Junior, but his career was certainly a HOF career. So sad.

I loved Junior Seau. This is very sad news.

Based on the reports, he was a class act. Did more for charity/kids in the few years since retirement than most people do in a lifetime. RIP, Junior. The demons are no more.

Indeed. A true class act.
