Title: I'm confused...(re: Omaha Steve)
Post by: formerlurker on April 29, 2012, 06:13:38 AM
SO there wasn't an announcement from the Socialist Steve Dawes for Bellevue City Council Ward I last week?    Didn't he claim there would be?

I think the big guy's campaign is now brain-dead, kept alive only by artificial means.

You know, the big guy seems to have evaporated, other than sporadic appearances on Skins's island.

Even people on the ground in Bellevue and thereabouts admit to no action by the big guy, while the two (R) and the one (L) candidate are all over the city and in the media, like syrup on pancakes.

In the big guy's absence, one can only speculate (and I'll bet I'm not far off, if off at all):

(a) Marta's still banging him over the head with a rolling pin, and the kids and kids-in-law are pointing and guffawing at the big guy, for having made himself look such a fool;

(b) the professional Democrats of Sarpy County are coldly ignoring him for the same reason, but as they can't really disavow him, they're trying to keep him stuffed in the attic, like a "funny" shoe-string relative;

(c) the big guy's bosses and co-workers at the waterworks are pissed at him because of some of his indiscretions uttered on Skins's island about them;

(d) the big guy's union is pissed about him for the same reason as (c) above;

(e) the owner of Goldenrod Printing in Lincoln is incessantly telephoning him, reminding him that the yard-signs are ready, and he can have them as soon as he ponies up the cash--but not before.

These are only speculations, but again, I'll bet I'm not far off, if off at all.

And we do know for a fact (f) that www.electstevedawes.com is garnering more interest and traffic than the big guy's first flub at trying to create a campaign web-site.  The big guy should be happy about all the work his friends did for him, but oddly, he's not.

It's a miserable situation; even if the big guy were to pawn his superlarge superdeluxe television set to pay the printing bill, that'd take care of only a small part of the trials and tribulations he laid upon his own shoulders.

The big guy is not a happy camper right now.

If the big guy had listened to franksolich last autumn, and heeded his counsel and advice (which is perhaps exactly the same counsel and advice of professional Democrats in Sarpy County), none--I repeat, none--I re-repeat, none--I re-re-repeat, none--of this would be happening.

If the big guy had listened to franksolich last autumn, probably the big guy would be headed for second in the primary, putting him on the general election ballot in November.

But did the big guy pay any attention to his fellow Nebraskan?

N-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o.

The big guy, who's approaching senior-citizenship, needs to learn a lesson he should've learned decades ago; he's not the smartest guy around, and there's nothing wrong with accepting the help of those brighter than him.

So far this site http://www.electstevedawes.com/ is the most informative about Steve Dawes socialist running for Bellvue City council.

Frank, some people you just can't help, especially the ones that think they are very smart.

The big guy's election, just two weeks from this Tuesday, could be swayed by the detail in Bellevue's local election law.

They list candidates who registered for the primary by party, so even though he's a socialist, the big sweathog has a (D) after his name.

If that (D) could travel with him onto the primary election ballot, it should assure anyone, even one as inept as Socialist Steve of a first- or second-place finish, especially considering the other candidates are two (R)s and a ronbot, splitting the non-D vote among the three of them.

Even in blood-red Nebraska, you have 30-35% or so who are hardcore (D), and that should be enough to advance to the November ballot.

But, and it's a huge but, the primary is non-partisan, so as I understand it, even though the big guy is identified as a (D) up until the election, on the ballot he's just Socialist Steve, known to no one outside of the girls' basketball and 1960s television cults.

His obnoxious flyers were wadded up and trashed weeks ago, his yard signs are non-existent, and his name recognition in Ward 1 is on a par with nutcase nadin's.

It's not looking very good.

Frank, some people you just can't help, especially the ones that think they are very smart.

You know, if I were half as smart as I think I am, I'd have some real problems.

And so when it comes to the smart department, whenever someone exaggerates my smartness, I rein my ego in, reminding myself it's just a delusion (on the part of the other person).

The big guy takes a different approach.

He knows if he were as smart as he thinks he is, he would've gotten a lot further along in life than he has.

But he hasn't, and instead of coming to his senses, he figures it's because the world's against him, conspiring to hobble, cripple, retard, his smartness.

You understand Nebraska law correctly.

In non-partisan races, party affiliation is not shown on the ballot; just the name.

And that is somewhat of a concern of mine.

After all, "Steve Dawes" sounds as if a good old-fashioned All-American name, like the big guy once played football for Nebraska or something.

And so the big guy might pick up a few extra votes because of what his name seems to indicate.

It's too bad his real name, which would better indicate his political leanings, isn't "Steve Nkrumah" or "Steve Chi Minh" or "Steve Dzhugashvili" or "Steve Tse-tung" or something like that.

I'm really worried that with just his name to rely upon, there might be some voters in Bellevue who like the name without evoking any sinister feelings about it.

Poor, stupid, lazy Steve Dawes.

The Bellevue Bolshevik is ignored by his fellow polyps in the DUodenum.

He got no joy at The Nation (http://nationdiscussion.ning.com/forum/topics/steve-dawes-bellevue-nebraska-city-council-candidate?commentId=2716840%3AComment%3A90385&xg_source=msg_com_forum), bastion of New Socialism, after he evaded the question of his integrity and fitness to serve the citizens of Bellevue.

I have no doubt that the dour one, Marta, blackened both his eyes and broke the rolling pin over his head after receiving the latest credit card statement. Badly written flyers, mass mailing, mini-tacos, and the set-up charge for undelivered yard signs cost money- money they don't have to spare if they're living off his disability check.

And, girls' basketball season is over, which puts a serious dent in Steve's ...ummm... social life. (http://brainmind.com/images/MonkeyMasturbate.jpg) (Link NSFW)

Sucks to be him.

I'm surprised the sweaty socialist hasn't posted another, more flattering photo of the glowering, dour, dyspeptic Marta.

In all the photos we've seen, she looks like a twin to the late Nina Khruschchev, minus Nina's ever-present smile.

I think the big guy's given up, but he's too embarrassed to admit it to the primitives.

The big guy's never learned one of franksolich's basic Rules of Life: better a bad start and a good finish, than a good start and a bad finish.

That's the creed I live by.  Obviously the big guy isn't the same denomination I am.

It's not so much that, but that all the reports I've gotten from people actually on the ground in Bellevue insist that while the other three candidates have been pounding the pavements, featured on local radio shows, and coated the city with yard-signs, there's been no sign, no sign at all, of the presence of a fourth person in this race.

When querying random passers-by, the names "Houghtaling," "Carmichael," and "Kneibel" ring bells, spark a light of recognition in the eyes--"oh yeah, the city council"--but when one mentions "Dawes," Bellevueans insist it's a long-ago vice-president or a county in far-western Nebraska.

I think he took his welfare check and spent it to pay off his printer for the flyers.

I hope he took the advice that I offered him a few months back and took some of the DUmmy donations and bought himself a star for next year. He needs access to his cash cow.

I suspect Socialist Steve Dawes' problem may be found on that other website; not the DUodenum, but that hideous purple website where Socialist Steve Dawes hides his true self from the good people of Bellevue's First Ward.

Steve Dawes, the Bellevue Bolshevik, insulted his constituency by posting "Yard signs are in! Use the contact tab to get yours".

Steve hasn't learned Rule #2 for getting elected: Don't make the voters work for it.
