Yep, it's all those southern white conservatives and their drive byes and drug killings!
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002606775
from the Institute for Economics and Peace, by way of huffpo...
10. mississippi
9. south carolina
8. arkansas
7. texas
6. missouri
5. arizona
4. florida
3. nevada
2. tennessee
1. louisiana

and, as you know, 3 and 4 only went blue in the last election.
And, as you know, all of those states have dark blue pockets (Jackson MS, Houston TX, Memphis TN, St Louis MO, etc) which largely correspond with where those violent crimes are committed!
I am somewhat surprised that Michigan is not on the list because of Detroit, Flint, Pontiac, Benton Harbor, etc. Then again, out-state and the 'burbs, where all those bloodthirsty right wingers live, are amongst the SAFEST areas in the nation.
Hmmm....

2. Absolutely nothing at the link about how they defined 'violent'.

And no information on how they made the rankings. If a 'study' is unwilling to give that basic information then it does not have any credibility. This is just another attempt to divide people into red and blue. I see it based on dogs and cats and I have seen it based on vehicles. The attempts to divide never stop. I went to their website and found that of the 20 most violent metro areas 18 are blue! So lets divide some more! http://economicsandpeace.org/

19. Four of the top 5 states in number of murders are blue states
California, New York, Pennsylvania and Michigan to be specific. Looks like blue states love those guns too.
How many times have we read of violent summer weekends in Chicago, Philly, Detroit or LA. It is not a red state issue.
Of course these two posts were ignored.

Red States Blue Counties within those Red States!

Hey DUmbshits, all that shit happens in Democrat areas by BLACK people. You might want to retract that shit lest you be called a racist. I'm FROM Mississippi. Jackson is a Damn hellhole. It's a f'n donut. No one wants to live around those savages, INCLUDING good black families that just want to live their damn lives. HINT: White people aren't the reason for your stupid ****ing list. Tune in to Kim Wade. He'll tell you idiots whats up. He finally figured you retards out:

I'm sure North Las Vegas (NOT Las Vegas, completely different cities) accounted for us landing in the number three spot for violence.
Most of the crimes in this area are black-on-black crimes.

Is it safe to say Democrat on Democrat? Yeah, I think so. The white liberal only has one purpose for the black man. A vote.

That's pretty much the truth. Republicans are packing heat here.

DUmpmonkeys must never have watched COPS or First 48.
Virtually every criminal is an 0bamaite.
There hasn't been a repuke criminal since Columbo went off the air.
-
Yep, those states all have either a large percentage of the population that is negro or illegal hispanic. Thanks for proving the point.
I would love to see how they determined this when Obama's fundamentally changed chicago has had 120+ murders during the first four months of the year.

It breaks down like this, from my experience or from what I know:
10. mississippi (Jackson, hellhole)
9. south carolina (Columbia, North Charleston, Spartanburg)
8. arkansas (Little Rock)
7. texas (Houston)
6. missouri (St. Louis)
5. arizona (Phoenix)
4. florida (Jacksonville, St. Pete, Miami)
3. nevada (Las Vegas)
2. tennessee (Memphis)
1. louisiana (The Chocolate City)
Shall we break down the demographics, DUmbasses?

Houston & Dallas/Ft. Worth with their large population density skew the percentages for Texas.
Texas does lead the nation in job creation and has something like 8 of the top 25 best cities in the US to live in.
-
What about south Chicago? The is the murder capital of America you know, so Illinois should be on it as well.

A really good lawyer friend of mine lives in Dallas. He says it is a shit hole. He's been trying to get out and come to Pittsburgh for a number of years now, but doesn't want to retake the bar exam lol.
-
MSM screwed up a couple of times and reported how Katrina's flushing of the Chocolote City scum into surrounding states had driven up crime rates...especially in Texas. ...and some of it even landed in S.C..

Dallas has it's good points but yes overall it is a shit hole. If I have business there unless I absolutely have to go I'll send one of my minions. My bias prevents me from thinking Pittsburgh would be an improvement. Change of scenery but hardly an improvement.

There are some parts of Pittsburgh that are rough, then it is like that in any city. The city has been spending hundreds of millions of dollars trying to clean up it's image. Which in some ways is working. It is more clean than it was with the steel mills and They are taring down run down buildings and putting up better businesses and new everything. It has become more of a home office type city for some major businesses.
I remember when it was really bad here. There used to be a time that you couldn't see the sky line on a clear day from all the smog. Not it is one of the most beautiful skylines I have ever seen.
The only complaint I have about Pittsburgh is all the road construction and one way streets. They been redoing the roads for the past 20 years and if you make a wrong turn, you could end up 30 or 40 miles out of your way.

North Las Vegas. My stomping grounds from ages 6-11. I remember some stories from there. The gang bangers loved starting fights with my older brother. One of the windows in our apartment was shot with a bb gun. Those were the days./sarcasm

The only reason MO is on that list is because of the democrat strongholds on at either end of I-70.

This list makes no sense to me. I know DC is not a state, but it sure as hell oughta be #1 on any list about crime!
-
I'd venture to say Chicago has more murders per year than the entire state of Mississippi.

Like that in every major city in Texas. Not quite 30 - 40 miles but you get the grand tour of downtown finding your way back. Thats definately one thing about Texas it has good roads. Hell our secondaries are better than a lot states primary roads.
-
A gravel road is better than most roads in Mississippi.

Chicago, Detroit, NYC, Miami, New Orleans, etc, etc.
That's why this list makes absolutely no sense at all.
Who the hell is this outfit, anyway? Never heard of 'em. Just havin' huffpo in the same sentence leads me to believe they're a bunch of Marxists.

I read an article once a few years ago that may explain why some cities aren't on high crime list. The article was about New Orleans and the extreme amount of crime, murder and police corruption but they didn't make the high crime list....there wasn't enough population. I think the cut off was 500 thou and they had less than that.
If I remember right, they wouldn't incorporate into New Orleans some areas around the city because that would put them over the 500 thou mark and that would drive up crime rates even higher and they were afraid that it might hurt tourism. As long as they stayed under the magic number they were good.
Wonder if that's the reason Washington D.C. is NOT on the high crime list....even though we all know that they have high crime rates.
MOD: to add NOT in last paragraph.
