On Zimmerman 'defenders' and 'apologists'
Those terms are offensive and unfair to some here who value the notion of 'fair trial' and the 'presumption of innocence.'
At the same time, Zimmerman apologist and defender trolls have been PPR'd by our MIR Team.
Some here may not be aware of how trolls bring RW and Neo-nazi talking points here because they don't visit those objectionable sites, and don't see how that BS is repeated here--often verbatim, and usually (but not always) by low-post count trolls.
Thankfully our MIR Team is on the job and and will sort things out and take action on trolls like this:

LoTechGuru was a troll from Conservative Cave who, I believe, was either their chief moderator, Frank Solich, or another member there who goes by the username, 'JakeStyle.'
Those here who may be tempted to defend against our attacks against trolls whom we characterize as Z defenders or apologists may be unaware of of the history and RW connections of these posters.
The 'tells' for those who truly are Z apologists and defenders, as opposed to DUers seeking fair trial and justice, include:
• Repetition of RW/white supremacist talking points, sometimes verbatim.
• Taking Zimmerman's claims as gospel, while ignoring contradictory evidence.
• Disclaimers about 'fair trial;' 'presumption of innocence;' interest in justice, opposing 'mob rule' and 'trial by media,' etc. Concern trolls, by definition, seek to fit in in by mimicking the valid positions and concerns of DU members.
Trolls and moles, oh my! LOL! We DO have them. They're real. And before anyone jumps to the conclusion that their fellow members are merely a mob with pitchforks and torches looking to string up Zimmerman because they confront these trolls, it helps to look a little deeper into what's really going on.

So you finally admit it. You've already convicted Zimmerman in your own minds, and even if/when he gets aquitted, you will always presume him guilty. Hey pinboynumbnuts, About the only way you idiots at DUmmie Land catch a troll or even better a mole is by choice. Maybe it's time to commit mole suicide or simply getting bored with playing with the inmates at the DUmmie asylum. Here's the real big difference. You don't have to be a mole here. Everyone is free to express their opinion. The idiots at DU Land haven't grasp that notion yet. If you open it to all view points there is no reason for moles or trolls.

They are easily found out because libs have no idea how conservatives think. They only know the talking points version of a conservative which is so out of whack with reality that it sounds stupid to an actual conservative. They will typically act over the top racist because they have been told to believe that all conservatives are racists. They think this will allow them to "fit in" while attempting to mole, but it reveals them plain as day.

What's to stop this person from now going off to other reaches of the internet, now bitter about the nasty Left, and perhaps have his opinions shaped by others? They all go :yahoo: when someone is killed off, but they're only going to be reduced to a speck of dust in the marketplace of ideas.

Maybe I'm nitpicking a tad, but...
A "mole," by definition, is someone who stays hidden or blends in; in short, becomes the perfect persona of the group being targeted, though short of actual maliciousness. In other words, Sean Penn may be a mole, but not Michael Moore, if they were conservative moles in the liberal world. Moore causes actual damage against conservatives, while Penn just parrots the cause.
A "troll" is more overt; in fact, he has to be highly noticed. He usually can be discerned because of his "offbeat" or "confrontational" manner. In either case, they are different than a mole.
Obviously, there can be a combination of the two as dynamically required. If a "troll" becomes a bit suspect, he may retreat into "mole" status to avoid a problem; indeed, he may even revert to a position that keeps him in line with the proletariat. Conversely, a "mole's" true worth is not validated until he does something to instigate the masses, so a mole would have to either subvert the membership by collecting information on as many of them as possible, in which case he is actively engaging the enemy, or other means similar to this method.
Anyway, a bit persnickety but nonetheless as accurate as I can make the difference to be.

The "MIR Team" is less about rooting out real trolls and moles than it is about enforcing groupthink and chilling dissent. Real moles and trolls get swept up in it to be sure, but it's aimed at recalcitrant liberals as well.
I find it comical that a site would employ a specialized team whose sole purpose is to eliminate posters not engaged in "right thinking" regardless of whatever rules the administrators might set forth. That coupled with the air of celebration from the rank-and-file when an account is deleted make it also a little disturbing, because this is an example on a micro scale of what the DU brand of self-described "liberals" would do if they could on a much larger scale in society.
