I always thought John and Paul were the talents in that band. I'd give the edge to Paul only because he has a better singing voice and probably the coolest "Rock and Roll Scream" ever recorded.

That is such a tough choice, BC. A group of individuals who made songs that I can listen to now like they were new again. How do you choose? I think I have to choose more on who is my favorite based on a song that I absolutely adore and always have and you mentioned it already, "My Sweet Lord". I thought George Harrison was just a gentle soul too all around. So my appeal is perhaps more ethereal rather then based on talent, but there is my pick all the same. That said, I still don't discount any of the others. My 10 year old daughter just recently started asking for tunes like Hey Jude and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Clubs Band. The stuff is just...timeless. It's appeal...just spans the generations.

John Lennon was the most creative in a nontraditionally artistic fashion making him the superior artist overall.  Although Lennon was not the born musician McCartney was, he was able to convey his musical visions to others and have his compositions played and understood.

Paul McCartney was most creative as the commercial artist, which was a vital force in their success.  McCartney was the superior musician in the group and had a natural understanding of melody and rhythm his partners lacked to varying degrees.

Ringo Starr (Richard Starkey) was a competent drummer who was talented enough and smart enough to grow into his broader role.

George Harrison's contributions were underrated during the era, but were quite visible in hindsight - which is where legacies are made.
