Let me be the first to test post a pic of a cactus wren pastel painting I'm working on....
just needs a few blending tweaks to finish it off.

Oh brother - I see better art being sold on the grass next to my Target, yet these assholes (including Skinner) go apeshit. (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10281)

This almost inspired me to post some CalPig poetry, just to show how the DUmpmonkeys swooned over her vulgar word salads just like this crude bird art.

Then how about a LGBT-friendly, DU version of the classic Kiss ballad, Beth?

Songwriter: BannedFrom DU
Jeff, I hear you callin'
But I can't come home right now
Me and the boys are bathin'
And you can't believe the jizz I've downed
Just a few more showers
And I'll be right home to you
I think I hear them ballin'
Oh, Jeff what can I do
Jeff what can I do
You say your butt's so empty
That our house just ain't a home
And I'm always somewhere else
And you're always there alone
Just a few more showers
And I'll be right home to you
I think I hear them ballin'
Oh, Jeff what can I do
Jeff what can I do
Jeff, I know you're lonely
And I hope you'll be alright
'Cause me and the boys will be bathin'
All night

I like the hook 'pastel painting' -
It's done using oil pastels, which are similar to Conté crayons. - Now it is possible to come out with excellent results via Conté or oil pastels ,but the medium is so easy to apply it lends itself to rushing to completion. (to those who never used them, they are 'crayon-like', but made much softer, so they can spread & blend easily.) They are often used for doing quick 'proof of concept' sketches, that are redone in actual oil pant later.
The biggest problem with them though is they never really 'dry' (well, they almost do, but it takes about 150 years) and protecting a work done in them is quite difficult.

I doubt anyone's worried about protecting that wren/roadrunner hybrid sketch. Blink, blink, blink, blink.
It looks like one of those pictures you're supposed to draw and send in to the bogus mail order art school.

My rule of thumb for judging whether or not something is art:
If I can do it, it's not art.
Sorry, primitive nc4bo. Maybe try harder with your next one.

nc4bo is wrenist.
