and be spectacular... the Popocapetl, one of the two volcanoes by Mexico City, may actually blow it's top. Yup, they have elevated the alert after it formed a lava dome (remember St. Helens) This thing goes off every five hundred years or so, and yes it is overdue.

It goes without saying... I will keep my eye on both the Mexican and the British press... if it is not happening in the US, it is not happening.

29. Well here is what we can expect in a worst case scenario in places like

Puebla, Mexico City and Cuernavaca

http://www.cenapred.unam.mx/es/PreguntasFrecuentes/faqpopovo2.html

Highlights.

A middle grade earthquake, about five in the Richter scale

And ash, as well as the sky going dark.

Yup, the airport might have to close... due to the damage the ash may cause to engines, which can and do seize up. (Bad enough they will close it for a few hours all the way to a few days, depends on how long that goes)

But city residents will have mostly a psychological effect. It can cause slightly more damage if it rains... and you can use the ash as fertilizer.

They have had only three MAJOR events, as in the mountain blew it's top, and even with that, see above in the last few thousand years, and 27 that look like this...

So I guess it will be TUMMS.

Now evacuating the people in the actual risk area... that they will have a little more trouble... people HATE to leave home behind. This is universal

I personally would avoid the ash... as in breathing it... it is highly abrasive.

It could still be a major PITA for the city, and of course for the people in the thirty kilometers around it, 20 miles, I am rounding. will be a problem, as in more than just PITA, or headache.

They are already preparing shelters, and have alerted civil defense and EMS components. If ambulances have to drive into the ash cloud... yes they can be filtered... I wonder if they will use military kit that already is, or they are retrofiring civilian engines. Even then they have a limited life since ash is extremely fine and corrosive.

I don't get what her thing is with TUMMS, she keeps bringing it up.  I'm just glad that she is on the case and has it handled.  She's a gutsy little balding dwarf with an Ipad, fear her.

nads the Magnificent advises that Mexicans stop breathing for the duration of the crisis. Stay tuned for further instructions.

The last time any important news came out of Mexico was 1917, when the U.S. intercepted a message from Germany to Mexico offering them Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico if they would make war on America and help Germany win WWI.

In 1917 Mexico was as much a bumbling Third World loser as it is today.

Regardless the opinion of nutcase nadin, suffice it to say, the entire country of Mexico is less important than Jim Hogg County, Texas.

Only sycophants are allowed to respond, not only to Nads of Arc, but to nearly all other posts as well.

Disagreement is not tolerated on the 'we don't discuss shit here, we merely agree and move on' site.

What was the name of the movie where they threw a woman into a volcano to keep it from erupting? Maybe they should do that to Nadin. It isn't like anyone will miss her anyway.

The effin' volcano would spit her out, and millions of cubic yards of lava with her--just to make the point.

"Don't mess with me!"

More than likely, but it is worth a shot to try it.
