Big difference between your parent feeding you dog meat when you were 6 years old and....a grown adult man knowingly strapping his dog to the roof of his car and then driving that car for 6+ hours.
Seems the republicans are trying to make something out of the fact that while he was a child living in Indonesia, Obama probably had eaten dog meat. Come on, the kid was 6 years old and was probably just eating what his mother and stepfather told him to eat. That's what 6 year olds do - they listen to their parents and eat what is on their plate.
To even consider comparing it to a grown man knowingly strapping a crate on the roof of his car and putting the dog in there THEN taking a 6 hour trip with the dog in that crap - that wasn't Mitt Romney obeying his parents that was Mitt Romney knowingly doing something very cruel to a dog. Can you imagine being in a dog crate, a box with absolutely no protection from wind or the elements, and being in there for 6 hours while the driver is doing like 60MPH on the highway?
It's sad that the GOP thinks they can create a scandal out of what a small child did while living in a foreign country where dogmeat was considered a normal meal.
Shame on the GOP.

2. I think he was TEN. The point is, though, that these assclowns are comparing a ten year old child to an adult male with five sons.
And they're doing it straight-faced, with sincere invective, completely unaware of the subtext they, themselves, are creating.
My take away?
-- Romney's behavior in torturing his dog is in the same ballpark as that of a ten year old kid, eating what is put before him at mealtime?
-- Romney, as an adult, has as much judgment as a ten year old kid?
I mean, really--pull it apart and that's what you end up with!

In some countries. And bugs and body parts of animals we wouldn't consider. So thats not the point at all.
They just want to divert attention from the absolute idiocy and insensitivity of a grown man who doesn't give a f about treating an animal well.
And with these aspersions, they remind people of obamas foreignness and that he grew up in a - gasp - Muslim country!

5. What's on the menu in other countries was never my point at all.
Of course they still eat dog and cat in China, the PI, Korea, etc. Monkey meat is on the menu, too, along with all sorts of snakes and shit.
My point was that they are comparing an ADULT Romney brutally torturing a helpless dog to the CHILD Obama eating what was put before him at meal time.
That's where the comparison falls down. It's not the foreign-ness as much as it is that they are saying "Harrrumph--you think torturing a dog for ten hours on top of a car is bad? Why, eating a dog is WORSE!" That's what they are trying to say, that's what Palin said, that's what these other idiots are saying.
The take away is that ADULT Mitt Romney is equal to the CHILD Barack Obama. They lose.

In Dreams of My Father Obama states that his stepdad Lolo "introduced" him to dog meat, he doesn't say anything about giving up eating it. For all anybody knows he's still eating it. Obama is a dog eating Other who's got no business being president of my United States.

Oh come on. That dog was not "brutally tortured." He liked to ride up there. Hyperbole only makes you look foolish. You can't compare that with bashing a dog's skull in, bleeding it, gutting it, skinning it, and boiling/roasting it up. Indonesians eat allot of stuff, those that are Muslim would never eat a dog, a pig or a snake.
Indonesia has thousands of islands with population that is neither Christian or Muslim, what ever the tribe some eat those Bats, some eat snake, and we all have heard of Borneo and the head hunters and the roasting of the long pig.
In New Hampshire it is or was legal to raise dogs as a food source. One can raise mice or rats, even cats to feed to pet snakes.
People coming here from Peru raise those Ginnie pigs for food at special events. An old man from Cambodia told me at the up coming holiday they had found a way to ship in a live Cobra. To kill it he said they grab it by the tail and snap it like a whip to break it's back bone. was he putting me on ????

I've seen that done...their heads come off if done right.
Back in the 50's, a black man and a white drunk drove bulldozers for my dad. I was there to fetch water or whatever they needed. The drunk jumped off of the dozer one day and grabbed a 6/7 foot black snake by the tail. He swung the snake around and around his head and then did the whip snap... something went wrong and the black snake wound up wrapped around his neck. He was holding the snake by the neck about 6 inches from his head and screaming for the black guy to get him off... Black guy told him, "I didn't put him up there. You get him off." :rotf:
I remember that job well. They were building a pond for a black preacher. While clearing for the pond, a rabbit was spotted sitting in his bed. The black preacher got his .410 shotgun, first .410 I ever saw, and killed the rabbit where he sat...but it wasn't a shotgun...it was a .410/.22 over and under...he had used the .22 part to kill the rabbit....I thought that was the neatest gun I had ever seen.
About 35 years later, I cleaned that pond out and reworked it for the same old black preacher. I asked if he still had that gun. He did and I tried to buy it... no deal. He died not to long after that. I don't know what happened to the gun.

I'd like to ask Obama a couple of questions about dogs. One is, do they have light and dark meat and two, if so which did you eat?

Mine did the same thing. He loved it. He used to also sit in front of the fan to catch the wind blowing in his face. I loved that dog, I miss him :(

I don't have a problem with anyone eating any critter, provided it was legally owned and humanely slaughtered.
I hold the jug-eared muslim in contempt, but not for chowing down on pooch.
