Dick Clark -- famed TV producer, and "New Year's Rockin' Eve" host -- died from a massive heart attack this morning ... TMZ has learned.
Clark's rep tells TMZ, the TV icon had been in St. John's hospital in L.A. after undergoing an outpatient procedure last night. Clark suffered the "massive" heart attack following the procedure. Attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

Agreed. RIP, Mr. Clark.

The man with the timeless handsome looks that made him the face of American Bandstand, and New Years eve, among others. Rest Well. You will be missed.

Wow! Somebody finally managed to drive a stake through Drac Clark's heart??
Prayers up for his family.

I swear, I freaked when I read the headline! That is reDICKulous how long he lived!

I guess it just seems that way because he was on TV every year. :p
My aunt was 83. Both of my grandmothers lived to 94.

My grandma is 98. My step dad is that same age as Dick Clark but looks a lot younger than his age.
This news made me sad. :(

I remember catching a little bit of him on one of those Rockin' Eve things after his stroke a couple years ago.
He was struggling so much to simply articulate I thought, "Damn, Dude, just go ahead and retire already. Nobody begrudges you a damned thing. Enjoy whatever time you've got left, but GTFO of the tube."

The legend will never be replaced. :(
-
He will be forever young, "America's Oldest Teenager." Rock on.
-
He gave old farts like me a great deal of pleasure on A.B. He was a class act too. RIP

I'm sorry, but one of my earliest memories is being annoyed with Dick Clark (probably around age 3). See, the start of the theme for American Bandstand always signified the end of Saturday morning cartoons, and that just PISSED ME OFF, back them. :-)

The dumbass thing about AB was the lame-assed shit you'd hear from the dancers:
Dick in 1959: "Well, what did you think about the song?"
Lame-assed dancer: "It had a real cool beat."
Dick in 1962: "Well, what did you think about the song?"
Lame-assed dancer: "It had a real happenin' beat."
Dick in 1968: "Well, what did you think about the song?"
Lame-assed dancer: "It had a real groovy beat."
:thatsright:

Today they are referred to as choreographically challenged.

I dunno about that. They seem to dance okay. I think in the "Ability to Express Oneself" category, they were simply stooopid -- at least while they were under Dick's watch.
Maybe it's different today. :stoner:

Well, I was really enjoying the mental image of "lame assed dancer"
Since they were performers, and ostensibly encouraged to break a leg...
