Title: Back in Atlanta (photos from home)
Post by: guest on May 12, 2008, 08:40:49 PM
It's just for a few days, and it was nice to get out of Savannah when there was nothing to do (semester is over and summer doesn't start for 3 more weeks).   I left at 3 am this morning, with the one drink I vowed never to try...RedBull.   :lmao:    It didn't quite give me the energy boost I was hoping for, but it tasted okay.

Some photos I took today (some have been long overdue, as I promised a particular someone here that I would take pictures of my parrots for them).

Baby the Yellow-Naped Amazon.  She's almost 30 years old, with an advanced vocabulary that

Dixie the Blue and Gold Macaw...

Punkin the Eclectus... I would have removed him from the cage, but he was keen on trying to bite me.   :whatever:

I'll have to post the pic of the other macaw tomorrow, because I'm having technical difficulties with my cell phone camera and sending the pic to my e-mail.

The perks of having a wireless router.   I couldn't stay out there for long, due to the wind gusts.  :(

The creek behind my home (yes, this IS in the suburbs.  We have a nature preserve, plus some property
purchased by the county that will never be built on).

Very nice pictures of the birds and the house and the surrounds! So tell me more about the wind gusts are they seasonal or year around?

Thanks, Carl. :)  I meant to take more photos today, but ran out of space on the camera phone.  :thatsright:

We also have two baby Canadian geese here (neighborhood has a pond), and I am going to ATTEMPT to get photos of them while I'm here.   My parents said they are still in their fuzzy stage.

Thanks, Schade.

The gusts seem to be coming from those same storms that caused a lot of damage and fatalities.     They were very strong in Savannah last night (I was very hesitant on leaving, but the winds died down enough for me to feel safe enough to drive on the interstate), and they were even worse here during the day.    :o

My home.   It is my opinion that all homes should have a front porch.  :p

Thanks, BEG.  :)

I finally got the picture I was struggling with to save to my computer.

This is Pepper, the green-winged macaw.  I know her feathers don't look all that great, because she's molting right now (and has been doing some plucking, as well.  She does it every year around this time).

Ignore the walls she chewed on.   I keep moving her cage further away, when I leave her out, yet she finds a way to do damage.    :whatever:   :lmao:

Nice house, cool birds. I want a small Parrot but the wife says NO. She wins.  :lmao:

Redbull is great if you want to go to sleep. Try www.xtremeshock.com (http://www.xtremeshock.com) if you want to stay awake  :-)
7-11 used to sell it here. It was so popular they couldn't keep it in stock so they quit selling it...  :mental: DUmmie economics in action.

LOL.  Well, parrots do tend to cost more in regards to maintenance and such, plus they can potentially get you sued for noise problems if you live in a relatively well-populated  neighborhood.  It happened to my family back when we had over 50 of them (breeding business).  Our neighbor was going door to door trying to get people to sign a petition to have us kicked out, but no one would do it.  Then, they took us to court, but lost in that effort too.  That neighbor was quite the hypocrite, with their howling herd of beagles.  :whatever:

People would often walk, jog and bike down our street because it sounded like a jungle to them, with the squawks and whistles.   They didn't want to lose that, so they backed us all the way.  :)

I admit I've gotten  a little worn out having only parrots as pets, and I miss having a dog around.   We might be getting a golden retriever soon, if my mom has her way.   :-)

Poor Dad doesn't stand a chance. So what's she going to name the dog? :-)

No clue yet, other than that it will likely be a Louisiana-based name.   My family loves such names, as we once had a golden named Gumbeaux, and my dad and stepmom acquired a Border Collie they chose to call Beaux over the holidays last year.   :)

The neighbors who live behind my parents had several birds.  THey were VERY loud and my parents really disliked it in the mornings.  The neighbors recently divorced and the one left in the house apparently does not have custody of the birds as my parents no longer hear them.

Great pics ACC....glad you made it home safe.

Great view from the back, nice house, pretty car in the drive, and the birds look really cool.
