Lesson learned, just break through
For the last few days I've been encountering a tree branch blocking the trail I always walk with my dog. In order to get past it, I've had to get down on my hands and knees and literally crawl under the branch. As it's been rainy and wet, and poison oak is everywhere, this is not a comfortable thing to do. I keep meaning to bring a small saw to clear the branch or ask my husband to do it.
This evening I encountered the branch again, without a saw. I decided to push down on the branch and see if I could step over it instead of crawling under.
As soon as I tried it, the rotten branch just snapped easily in two and I was able to walk right through. I felt pretty powerful! (And a little silly.)
Couldn't help applying this lesson to life. Stop crawling under and around problems, stop waiting for something or someone to help, just deal with it.
The solution may not be quite as difficult as you imagine!
Learn to recognize and deal with the rotten branches immediately and save yourself a lot of wasted time and effort.

Reminds me of the story Rush told about the shopping carts being stuck together and how everyone would try once then just take one from the other line, he finally just got out of the car and pulled them apart.
-
Libs start problems others have to solve.

That DUmmy upset the balance of nature.
-
If she was a good Pigressive, she would've just piled up other people's money to make a ramp and then walked over that to get around it. After properly completing and filing a NEPA Record of Environmental Consideration, of course.

Those stuck shopping carts make me angry. I end up kicking them to make them release. I'm the crazy woman beating the crap out of shopping carts at Target.

Call me, and I'll bring a sledge, and crowbar. Is that racist ?

You should have a little red wagon to carry all your treasures.
Poor, addled DUmmy grasswipe thinks it makes you look less like a baglady.

I do when we walk over to Walmart of Sam's Club, but only because our daughter likes to ride in it. I guess it would be weird if we didn't have kids and I pulled a wagon to every store I go.

She walks down the same path every day, and suddenly a "new" tree branch appears in her way. Days later, she actually thinks about moving it. No, this is no bouncy. This one I believe. I can absolutely see most of the DUmmies doing the exact same thing...instead of taking action to fix a problem, they have to waste time and effort avoiding the problem while hoping for someone else to fix it.
We don't call them DUmmies for nothing. :-) :-)

High 5 MrsSmith. Exactly why the democrats do not recognise dead wood and keep lowering themselves to accommodate those or things in their way. ------ Oh that poor bush, a living thing that grows the way it is meant to.
What's a the matter with someone that will day after day step over or slide under any obstacle they find.???? Do they mow their lawns, weed their gardens, cull the dead wood from their trees or just wait for someone to do it for them????
Perhaps it is easier to ignore problems and get frustrated that no one has solved the problem for them. I bet the poster has kids that are constantly in trouble and just steps over or slides under the problem, too much trouble for them to attempt to fix any problems on their own.
You may be most correct here MrsSmith, this may not be a bouncy but the harbinger of what is to come.

Problems like that would disappear if we just raised taxes on the rich.

I'm just not understanding this.

Damned right that's not a comfortable thing to do! Why didn't you do like your dog did, and just walk around it?

Except a true DUmmy would turned around and walked to the bottom instead of walking a few steps up. Then when they reached the bottom would have called someone to fix the problem.

Well I can guarandamnteeya they don't beat the shit outa them like they deserve! There's a lot to be said for the time our schools had corporal punishment! I never even heard of a "gangsta" back then!

I don't want to scuff my boots. I just lift the stack about a foot and a half or so off the ground and drop it. Usually works.

Nah Allo, Kids grow up to imitate the actions of the care giver.
Ever wonder why Adopted kids look like the Adopted parents ??? They mimic the facial expressions, hand gestures of those around them, tilt their heads the same way, smile and cry the same way.
Kids learn at an early age what and what not they can get away with, Daddy is raciest so to get caught beating up on some kid of a race Daddy hates will bring not a good old bend over and belt time but Daddy defending their actions.
I still go by the old school thinking of as the twig is bent so grows the branch. Bonsai trees are great example. Keep the tree pruned and stunted, controll all aspects of its growth then stand back and wonder why the tree cannot grow apples or tomatoes.
Gansta's in school come about from peer pressure and acceptance in the family's and schools. So good parents even those in the work of Child Problems at times face an out of controll child.
California a few years ago had a husband and wife both with PHD in Child Problems and worked with the kids of the wealthiest family's in Holliwood, were arrested on child abuse charges as they at Witt's end had locked their daughter in her room with bars on the window.
My favorite was a man, divorced with custody of his 14 year old son, he a Doctor at the end of his rope took 6 months off from work-- at great cost to him and took the child to Europe and to the middle East. He deliberately stayed in any flee bag hotel, and exposed his son to the worse of the worse living conditions of the Country. He left it up to the kid to either starve or eat goat eyes.
He did not try to temper the gruesome things his son was exposed to, did not make any excuses for the conditions, did not point things out and give a lecture, he just allowed his son to absorb life around them and was there for any questions the son asked. Usually with a what do you think answer and allow the son to form his own beliefs good or bad.
I still run into the Doctor at the Hospital from time to time, too late for me to as my kids were grown, but he now lectures on the point that there is allways some one worse then you, if a kid is acting out even the poorest in this country can find time to take a kid to a methodone clinic, the local jail, volunteer in soup kitchens, visit the homeless tent shelters that spring up.
Some times a kid needs a kick in the ass from reality, scare the shit out of them not from You the parent but to what is out side the doors of their home.
I was raised and raised my own kids to know if they got into trouble unless they were a victim, no way was I to post bail money for them, write to them in jail, it was not ME that owed them support but they that owed me for all the minor heart attacks they caused me. I gave birth to them and it required their loyality in turn for that favor.
A good Ass whip solves nothing then to insure the child fears. This is not respect but fear of the people that love them the most.

Both my children are grown now. When they were growing up and I was still married it fell upon me most the time to be the disciplinarian because their mommy was slightly more concerned about being the childrens bestest buddy rather than their parent.
Most the time a stern lecture and/or grounding did the trick but there were a few occasions a proper butt dusting was called for.
My son who has always been somewhat of a momma's boy will not say or do anything against his mother which I can understand and respect and think is for the better. He has said he comes to me with a problem or seeking advice because he doen't want to "Bother" his mother with it.
My daughter on the other hand has told me she would much rather come to me with a problem because she feels i'll always be truthful with her and never intentionally set her astray while she feels her mother has a penchant to say what she thinks my daughter wants to hear rather than what she needs to hear.
