The backstory on this photograph dates to January...
however, posted 5 hours ago to FDL is this post on the International MaxxPro Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle in which supposedly the DHS had purchased 2,717 of these.
Does anyone have the backstory or update debunking the aforementioned image?
Or are we *really* arming our federal government and civilian law enforcement agencies with vehicles such as these...?!

There are good reasons for it, can count them with fingers of one hand, and bad reasons...takes more than hands and feet.
Good reason. All terrain, we have used state of the art military vehicles for that...
They come with state of the art comm suites.
Bad reasons, let me count the ways.
There's that "we" again. nadin must have had some really state of the art gear back when she was doing battle with the cartels down in Old Mexico.
Interestingly, she edited her post to correct two minor spelling errors, I don't think she has ever done that before.

Stupid question again.
What are "comm suites"?
The Great White Whale's got to condescend to using plain language rather than jargon.

Along with making electricity prices skyrocket, wanting gas at $5/gallon, unilateral nuclear disarmament, spreading the wealth around, 0bama aslo wanted a civilian force the dame size as the military.
He does tell the truth, sometimes, particularly before running for presidebt.

I think she is meaning communication devices, a suite is probably several radio systems in one console. I never heard the term comm suite before we called them consoles.

Commercial ? Community ? both would go nicely with nadin's understanding of suites.

Communications probably is what she means, but then again it's Nadin so there is no way to be sure.

That's one of the many things that irritates me about the Great White Whale.
She uses jargon as an attempt to come across as an "insider" on things.
Real insiders--inside on anything--don't have to use jargon.

Well, she googled it up, and that's what it said.
Anyway, does anyone really think nutcase nadin could string together enough letters to write "communications"?
She loves these inside baseball terms. She's so smart.
But it all comes with the territory as a trained historian and professional unpaid journalist.
And as a journalist, hey, Lois Lane never won any spelliing bees.
