HUGE MISS: Initial Unemployment Claims Surge To 380K
I wonder what's happening to all those people who are using up their unemployment eligibility.

http://www.businessinsider.com/initial-claims-april-12-2012-4#ixzz1rpVKUxmm

Initial unemployment claims jumped above expectations, increasing by 13,000 to 380,000, new data out of the Department of Labor shows.

Economists polled by Bloomberg were looking for a 355,000 reading. The prior week's reading was revised higher by 10,000 to 367,000.

However continuing claims substantially beat forecasts, falling by 98,000 to 3.251 million. Expectations were for a 3,000 person decline.

What do you MEAN the 0bama-conomy is in the shitter? JUSTICE FOR TRAYVON!!!!!1111 (http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002552129)

The lengths folks will go . . .

Where's the actual Bloomberg report?

Barely a popcorn fart on DU about this. Not surprised...there's Zimmerman to speculate about.

bigtree also added one of these  ::)  to deride "Business Insider."  Despite its name, I've been under the impression that it's a liberal rag.

Anyway, when they spend a lot of energy questioning sources (and they do that a lot), you know they've no defense.  This is general news; Reuters, AP, MSM, all of it.

More people gave up and ran out of their extended unemployment benefits.  Are we now going to see the "official" unemployment revised upward?

And yet when Business Insider was reporting that Sarah Palin wasn't really pregnant they were a great resource. Go figure.

Well then how about Baltimore Sun (http://www.baltimoresun.com/business/sns-rt-us-jobless-claims-unexpectedly-rise-last-weebre83b-20120412,0,7644127.story) via Reuters?

The magic of seasonally adjusting the UE numbers. The actual job loss in January was 120,000 no gains. However when you seasonally adjust that, you get +200,000. The warm weather really helped the first three months of this year. Now it will hurt them.

The bottom line is that there are 2.1 million fewer jobs since the stimulus was passed and that is why the labor participation rate is at a HISTORIC, RECORD, UNPRECEDENTED rate under the economic super geniuses of the 0bama regime.

Another fun thing that 0bama does with the numbers is to always, ALWAYS undershoot the real number and then compare that to the previous weeks adjusted number. Last week the initial number was 357k which got compared to the higher number for the previous week and it was only 9k more unemployment claims. Now this week they say it is only 13k more unemployed because the 357k got revised to 367k when it is really 23k. Next week when the 380k of this week is revised to 390k the 395k announced will only be a 5k increase. All is well and your chocolate ration just got increased!
