Title: Just got back from socialist Steve's fundraiser at Bear's Bar
Post by: Reality vs DU on April 04, 2012, 09:21:05 PM
Wow, what an event. :whatever:

Socialist Steve Dawes sat at a table in the middle which was conjoined with a booth.  This was a small bar, much of a dump really and I didn't get a chance to give it a good look and remain inconspicuous but I think there were only 7 people total between the table and booth, with Socialist Steve being one of them.

All the rest of the 10 or so people in there seemed to be just average bar-goers who could have cared less about the fundraiser.  I sat at the bar about seven feet from Steve and his bunch which seemed much like just a group of people having beers.

I got in and out in 20 minutes, I had some small cards referencing Socialist Steve's website www.electstevedawes.com written on it.  My goal was to spread them all over the place but this was such a low key event that it would have been quite noticeable had I tried to place them all around the bar.

To remain inconspicuous I had a quick beer and left and placed all of the cards on a table by the pool table where there appeared to be some previously eaten hot food.  Put a couple on the bathroom sink as well.

To illustrate how much people cared about this, while I was waiting to get into the bathroom another guy came up looking to use the restroom as well.  He told me something to the effect of "there is some guy running for something, if you give him $5 they have some really good beer and you can drink all you want".

I wanted to get a picture of socialist Steve Dawes and the "event", but couldn't due to the low key nature and lack of people there.  Sorry CC.

Hey Steve, remember me?  I was the younger guy with short hair that sat at the bar around 7 o'clock for a quick beer and left.  I had a black jacket and dark jeans on.  I saw you look right at me out of the corner of my eye.

Frank, I sent you a PM with something I learned while at the fundraiser.  Good news is that OSSSD is going according to plan.

It's a pretty damn successful campaign event when half your voters show up.

Your description of the food is mouth-watering. Undoubtedly Steve mowed through the mini-tacos and wings at 5:02, and by 7:00 all that was left were some bones and a puddle of congealing taco grease.

Sorry I couldn't make it, but the weather conspired against me. Looking forward to the pictures at www.electstevedawes.com !

There may or may not have been females there.  There were a few of them that could have been but it was hard to tell.  This place was a dive.  Only person I knew for sure was a female was the bartender.

I think so,I was trying to listen but there wasn't much noise coming from the table/booth.

This seems like something Steve Dawes normally does on a Tuesday night or any night for that matter.  Sit in a bar and get loaded.  Not like he has to worry about work or anything tomorrow.  And if he does he's Union so its not like he'd get fired for being late or hungover.

He looked to be in his natural environment.

Ha!  Funny how much attention the mini tacos have received.  Fairly common around here.  By the time I got there the food table looked like it was shut down for the night.  Steve probably ran through half of it.

Mini tacos people...they're pretty damn good when done right.

Mini-tacos around here are found in those little paper baskets in food-warmers of convenience stores, with about a quarter of a teaspoon of hamburger in them.  I had them once, but they're a little pricey at $2.79 for a basket of six.

Sorry I couldn't make it, but the weather conspired against me.

Yeah, the weather's kind of inclement today and tonight; not bad, but not especially encouraging one to go to a bar on one's non-drinking night.  Really windy.

I was truly concerned that because of the fire marshall's rules about "maximum occupancy," that not all would get inside to enjoy the food and fun......and not getting inside, the big guy wouldn't be able to lift their wallets for donations.

You know, if my fellow Nebraskan would've taken my advice and counsel, he could've had this fund-raising event in the new baseball stadium in downtown Omaha, the bleachers jammed full.

As the big guy knows, franksolich is no amateur when it comes to arranging and operating political events.

For Democrats.

Back in 1988-1992, franksolich managed a privately-owned student union on the campus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, which was owned by David Hunter, then the third-biggest Democrat in the whole state.

When he was finally caught cheating the people, he put a gun into his mouth and pulled the trigger, but that's already been told here, in "the best boss I ever had":

http://www.conservativecave.com/index.php/topic,30787.0/highlight,hunter.html

It's pretty long, but not boring.  It's about the character and practices of professional Democrats.

Anyway.

So, those four years, the building was used as a venue for Democrats campaigning for one office or another.

Because of my well-known Republican bent and character, David Hunter always suggested that I, as building manager, didn't really have to be there if I didn't want to, that he could take care of things.

I frankly admitted, no, I didn't really want to be there, but as I took my responsibilities as building manager seriously, I had to be there, to ensure that things ran smoothly.  And also to count the silver and linen after it was all over, to be sure nothing had been stolen.

In four years there must have been about, oh, fifteen Democrat bacchanals there; the big ones of course featuring Bob Kerrey (twice) and Ben Nelson (once).  But even for the lesser regional and Lincoln candidates, the turn-out was awesome, especially at the bar (the only bar inside the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus).

Everything went like clockwork under franksolich's all-seeing eye and invisible hand.

For the most part I stayed in the background, but got a little irked when Ben Nelson (in 1990, running for governor) came to me with a personal request.  I was preoccupied trying to counterfeit a British five-pound note, and coldly denied it.  He wanted to use my office telephone to talk to a newspaper reporter, and I pointed out there were pay-telephones, twenty-five cents a call, in the corridor.  (Cellular telephones were still somewhat of a rarity in 1990, but a few minutes later he found a Democrat willing to loan him one.)

Or there was a time when the glad-handing, the boozing, and the pick-pocketing was just about over, and Bob Kerrey went looking for franksolich.

I was in my office, attired in my usual three-piece pinstriped suit, but with my shoes off, the stockinged feet up on my desk.  I was busy blowing up condoms as if balloons, and there were plenty of balloons around that I'd batted onto the floor or furniture, and I was practically nested in a bunch surrounding me.

Some Democrats had broken into the condom machine in the men's restroom, and since nothing could be done about it, I just took the machine off the wall and carried it and its remaining contents to my office.

So I was sitting there, aimlessly blowing up condoms and batting them around, when Bob Kerrey stuck his head inside the door.

He looked, uh, awkwardly surprised, but did say he wanted to thank me for having done such a good job.

I reminded him his fellow Democrat David Hunter, the owner of the building, was who he should thank, not me, and continued blowing up condoms, swatting them around the air as if the U.S. Senator wasn't even there.

It appears that Socialist Steve Dawes will need some more DUmp dollars to cover any future campaign expenditures.

Free beer and mini tacos for Three hours would have cut into his campaign cache pretty deep. Greed, avarice and the over confidence that comes with being a member of the democrat party would make Steve plan a fete for 50+ DUmmies. Although only seven democrat parasites showed up for the freebies, you can bet they ate and drank like a sailor back on shore after nine months at sea.

ETA:

Hey Reality vs DU,

He would have been the one foaming at the mouth.

Given the venue, I'm guessing it's like fund-raisers done up here on the roof of Nebraska.

The bar, guaranteed a minimum, sets apart a corner of the establishment for the group; a bunch of tables near the back door or something.

The rest of the establishment's wide open to regular and other customers, who have nothing to do with the party.

I dunno what the case was with the big guy, but I'd expected to see more people.

If franksolich had run the operation, there would've been a long line of people stretching around the block, waiting their turn to come in.

Too bad for the big guy.

Okay, a football-like recapitulation; remember, the big guy and franksolich, as fellow Nebraskans, think in terms of football.

The big guy had gotten the ball first, on his own 20-yard-line, and advanced four yards (when he unveiled his first web-site), making it second-and-six.  Then he picked up another yard (when he got all those endorsements from that obscure personalities), making it third-and-five.

On third-and-five, the big guy passed the ball downfield, and ran to catch it while franksolich, uh, disappeared, nowhere to be seen.

The big guy ran down the field, and it looked to be a touchdown.

Excepting that the big guy slipped and fell on the three-yard-line, losing the football (when the big guy's friends put up his second web-site), which franksolich caught and ran back for a touchdown.

Making the score the primitives 0, the people 7.

The big guy got the football again, on his own 20-yard-line, and ran with it, gaining five yards (putting out his stuff in the newspaper), making it second-and-five.

However, problem.

The big guy started too soon, "false start," by doing this way too early.  Penalty, five yards.

So it was then second-and-ten.

We have to wait until the big guy reports to the primitives, what he did on second-and-ten.

I haven't either.   I've heard of cash bars, sure.  But free booze, even if only a keg, smells too much like bribery.

I do have a question for Steve that occurred to me.  Hey Steve, why don't you ever stand up at the DUmp and say, "I wish you guys would stop bashing Christians all the time.  My Presbyterian church is very important to me, and my faith guides me daily.  We're not all like Carrie's mom, like you think."   Your website states

We're a little bit more laid back out here, even the citified Nebraskans.

What the Democrats did at the Reunion, being the tightwads they are, one had to buy one's own drinks.

Outside of the cities, usually one gets "tickets" for a couple of free drinks, and then if one wants any more, one has to pay for it.

The last fund-raiser I attended at a bar around here, hosted by a primitive from Texas (a former resident of the area), it was a bunch of tables blocked off near the rear of the bar (not the bar itself, but the business), and there was a 32-gallon keg sitting near the seat of the primitive fund-raiser.

I point all this stuff out because I'm aware it's different in other places, and didn't want people to think the big guy went all out and everything; actually, all he did, with the cooperation of the owner, was use a bunch of tables designed "reserved," while the rest of the bar (the business) was left open for other and regular customers.

How long before avowed socialist, Steve Dawes, will make the big anouncement?
We already know that the bar will be reported as "packed", with hundreds of will-wishers and donors.
Socialist Steve Dawes of Bellevue, better be careful about falsely reporting the amount of donations he recieves.
We know he loves to greatly exaggerate and the amount will need to be reported and accounted for, by the election commission.

I hope more information is forthcoming at www.electstevedawes.com

Yeah.  If I were the big guy's campaign treasurer, I'd be a little irate with him.

Best for the campaign treasurer, charged with making a sworn statement, to release any numbers to the primitives, if he so wishes.  If he doesn't wish to share it with the primitives, it's copacetic.

  That's such a classic DUmp post.

You know, there's been neither hide nor hair of the big guy seen this morning.

He promised us a "big surprise."

I'm wondering if something obstructed that big surprise.

As we all know from www.electstevedawes.com, the big guy slammed his bosses and coworkers, and his union on Skins's island.

Maybe they finally got wind of it, and the big guy's pink-slipped.

I dunno.

If the local paper won't even cover his event then he may as well not exist . This is going down worse the Little Big Horn did for Custer.

At least Custer killed lots of the Sioux that were attacking his position.  Steve's being ignored and left in the wilderness.

Well the bar bash was a roaring success. There were a total of 7 supporters.

All the beer we could drink and the mini taco's were out of this world.

I bet that Steve pulled in at least 13.00 dollars for his election campaign.

Way to go big guy.

Yeah, even the commies at DU can smell the cadaver.  Imagine, the "Labor Leader of The DemocraticUnderground" being shunned by his 100000+ friends at DU, whom he "loves"...at least that's what it says at www.electstevedawes.com.

Steve took his cue from Boss Tweed, corrupt New York Democrat politician of the 1800s.

Mr. Dawes should invest in some whitening strips, yellow teeth are a no-no for any politician.

Remember that it was probable bough on sale at Walmart in 83 for his burial.

When he works, it's in a poop distillery. A tie is as alien to him as protected sex is to Sandra Fluke. They both say "What's that"?

It's all very sad.

The eyes and the heart tear for one's fellow Nebraskan.

I never understood the inclination of the weight challenged folkes to let their beard stray onto their necks.

Perhaps it's the inability to find their lower jawline?

Its a bad photo -

The photographer should have told OS to find a shirt with a larger collar, instead he is wearing a shirt that has the effect of making him look larger than he is.

Can you imagine what an awful photographer "Marea" must be, to allow that imprint to show on that photo?

Good Lord, what a picture!

Neck overflowing his collar, pubic hair all over his face, a head of hair that looks like it came out of the squatter's imaginary Dyson, it could hardly be worse.

Hey Reality vs DU,

Any idea which character BanTheGOP was? He said he was going.

He would have been the one foaming at the mouth.

I don't think he made it.  You would think based on his online persona he would have been banging his fists on the table screaming **** the GOP.  No such thing, as I mentioned it was pretty quiet and low key.

Been following this as a very far outsider, and I am beginning to feel sorry for Big Steve.

He is sitting on a GOLD MINE of history and potential as a tourest trap and here there is all this about a donut shop coming to the area ??????

Something about removing abandoned homes on the river,  ----- Darn no problem to put in piers and encouraging people to buy and live on house boats.

Advertise the area, 90% of America has never heard of this place and for history buffs and retired folk this could bring in the camp grounds and a Wallmart, shops that deal in fake antiques, and those that want to see how life in that town 150 years ago was.

Bring back the Honky tonks and the steak and chops at reasonable prices-----   Poor Steve is blind to Capitalism as a Dem.    Shit he is all for donutshops and misses the big picture.  idiot LIB.  Needs to put stars in the eyes of voters on a big future.

Ya think he'll admit there were only 7 morons at his gathering? Wouldn't surprise me if he told them he packed the bar to overflowing! bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!

Ya know this could mean that Steve is in jail. Free Beer and Mini-tacos do add up. Someone has to pay.
with only 7 who showed up....could Stevie-boy have tried to skip out without paying the tab?
