I wish people would think twice before referring to "God" saving them from disaster
I live in North Texas and as some of you may have read, we had very destructive tornadoes in the area yesterday.
Several of my FB friends live in or close to the affected areas. Now while I am very happy for them that their homes were not damaged or destroyed, a part of me is thinking it is really insensitive of them to be posting that God saved them, that it was the hand of God protecting their property, "God is gooooooood" (as one friend posted) etc...meanwhile, HUNDREDS of their nearby neighbors in their respective cities were not so lucky and today have no belongings except the clothes on their back and are being shown on TV rummaging thru piles of wood that 24 hours ago was their home.
So using the rationale of the "God saved us and our homes", are they saying that God purposely destroyed the homes/livlihood of the twister victims and chose to NOT save *their* homes/belongings?
Unfortunately, I am headed to work now where alot of these same FB friends will be and may have to bite my tongue off if they start up with the "God is..." . Though I do have a way of telling people to go to hell in a way that makes them think it will be a fun trip, usually resulting in a look on their face like "wait, did she just..." (but that's only after you see their mental wheels turning for a few minutes..").

They are so bitter they can't stand for anyone to be happy about anything.

1. I couldn't agree more. Don't they think it through and
realize what they are indirectly saying about those that weren't so fortunate?
:whatever:

5. If there was a god, he/she
would not have allowed the disaster to happen in the first place.

7. Why do you care?
Seriously? Who has the problem with "god"? You or them?
Because she is so miserable and bitter that she wants everyone to be just as miserable as she is.

12. Because all these little religious sayings and ingrained "godisms" in culture are ****ing annoying
And if we are going to change society where people aren't running their life and politics based on mythology, we have to start clamping down.
So from now on, whenever somebody sneezes say "gazuntite"- not "bless you"
It will take many generations of humans but we all have to start somewhere!
Once again you want to force your beliefs on other people. Evangelical atheists are the worst.

55. Since when does anyone have a right not to be annoyed?
The First Amendment guarantees folks with religious beliefs the right to have those beliefs, the right to the free practice of those beliefs, and the right to freely speak about them.
I am aware of nothing in the Constitution or anywhere that guarantees you some sort of right not to be annoyed by what others say now and again. Guess that means you'll just need to get over it.
Ouch!

15. Truly annoyed when a tv interviewer asks survivors something and
the answer broadcast on TC is all about "god/religion/prayer". I see it as free advertising and should be subject to taxation.
:mental:
They are such miserable little creatures.

It's Gesundheit, a Germanism that is an artifact of the largest single language group making up the post-Colonial immigrant population, you stupid tool. Liberally translated, it means "Good health."

Why do bad things happen to good people? The biblical answer is there are no “good†people. The Bible makes it abundantly clear that all of us are tainted by and infected with sin (Ecclesiastes 7:20; Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:8). Romans 3:10-18 could not be clearer about the non-existence of “good†people: “
A better question would be “Why does God allow good things to happen to bad people?†Romans 5:8 declares, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.†Despite the evil, wicked, sinful nature of the people of this world, God still loves us. He loved us enough to die to take the penalty for our sins (Romans 6:23). If we receive Jesus Christ as Savior (John 3:16; Romans 10:9), we will be forgiven and promised an eternal home in heaven (Romans 8:1). What we deserve is hell. What we are given is eternal life in heaven if we come to Christ in faith.
Yes, sometimes bad things happen to people who seem undeserving of them. But God allows things to happen for His reasons, whether or not we understand them. Above all, however, we must remember that God is good, just, loving, and merciful. Often things happen to us that we simply cannot understand. However, instead of doubting God's goodness, our reaction should be to trust Him. â€Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight†(Proverbs 3:5-6).

By mythology are you referring to things like burning sage to cleanse a house? Or remote viewing? Or astrally traveling? Or astrology? Or spirit guides? Or the next ice age global warming global climate change? Or the belief that unborn babies aren't really babies so it's okay to murder them?

Why aren't they being compassionate and sending pictures of their hands and white, healing light to those that lost their homes and possessions. We won't even mention the crazy idea that they could send something more helpful, not in this Obama economy.

When the US was debating abolition the pro-slavery camp based it's arguments on the supposed physiological regressions of Africans. Slaves were reported to have smaller brains, lower logic capacities and physically stronger like beasts of burden.
In other words it was a scientific/evolutionary argument.
Meanwhile the single greatest proponent for abolition was the Society for the Friends of Jesus (Quakers).
Scientificalismness also gave us eugenics.
And the Soviet Union.
Meanwhile, cancer researchers have discovered they cannot duplicate 3/4 of the research previously conducted by their peers published in reviewed, respected journals...meaning the original experiments--75% of them--are totalbullshit. This explains why eggs are or are not healthy to eat depending on which day of the week it is.
Religion may be abused by immoral men but they must at least pose as moral men.
Science, for all its lack of religiosity, imparts no moral hedge of virtue.

That post is made every single time a disaster hits and someone exercises their freedom by thanking their faith. Every single time.
What they fail to recognize, because they lack soul, is that the true test of faith is during those times that test it. They could see that if they weren't blinded by the great "I".

Yes, truly. I told my wife that I'm certain that The Eternal Father was sending a message with the tornadoes. What that message is, I haven't a clue; but I fully believe that a Divine message was sent. Will anyone receive it, and act properly on it?
That remains to be seen. Blessed be the Lord!

This is what we fight. Clamping down? On how another person lives, perceives, and values their own life? Who made you ruler of all? You and your "clamping down" will experience a brutal backlash.
This is a demokrat.

Take a look at this post, and the dependence baked right in. This guy's pissed that people thank God, and not a bureaucrat instead.

18. The only real argument I have with them doing it for their OWN comfort, is that when they give all
The thanks elsewhere, they are denying that the person standing next to them or far away who provides them with food, health care, keeps their air and water clean, picks them up and takes them to the hospital, etc. have a very important role to play.
Then they turn around, some of them, certainly not all, and vote against those people as public workers, migrants, nurses, firemen, regulators and the like, after listening to right wing pastors and radio, and vote for a GOP psychopath hellbent to destroy the ability of this society to protect them and help them daily.
I'm so offended I don't know what to say.

What's sad is that it is faith based organizations that offer the most charity in these situations.
These DUmmies are vile and miserable people.
