(CBS News) In the escalating battle between the administration and the judiciary, a federal appeals court apparently is calling the president's bluff -- ordering the Justice Department to answer by Thursday whether the Obama Administration believes that the courts have the right to strike down a federal law, according to a lawyer who was in the courtroom.
The order, by a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, appears to be in direct response to the president's comments yesterday about the Supreme Court's review of the health care law. Mr. Obama all but threw down the gauntlet with the justices, saying he was "confident" the Court would not "take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress."

I don't know why he sets himself up for ridicule like that. 158 times this has happened. Does he really believe that the country is populated soley by drooling idiots?
And "passed by strong majority." The country exploded with rage when they rammed this thing down our throats. A HOR was lost because of it. It remains 65% unpopular. Everyone knows this.

One thing I've noticed - his Rose Garden speeches are frequently off-the-cuff. Legislation signings and stays of turkey executions (at Thanksgiving, of course) are frequently enough of a huzzah that he feels ballsy enough to just wing it.
Well, he wung it and his speech sounded bwoke-dick as a result.

Which comprises roughly 32% of the population, and falls into two distinctive groups:
1. Hard-core liberals (20%) who would kiss his ass in the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue at rush hour if he asked them to......
And:
2. Blacks (12%) who don't understand a word that he's saying that has more than five letters, and doesn't start with the word "Yo".......
He's hoping that at least another 18% of the electorate are too stupid or lazy to actually find out if what he's telling them is factual.......

I served with a guy in Berlin who, by all accounts, witnessed communism up close and personal. He saw the degradation, the fear, the lack of freedom. He wore the same uniform I did and is retired after active service.
This is a guy who swears up and down that his neighbor, after cutting down a tree on his own property, committed "murder" to said tree.
And this is a guy who actually asked the stunning question, "What's the problem with socialism?" and then launched into a 20-minute tirade about evil capitalist corporations that serve only themselves.
I would put this guy solidly in the 20% category you mentioned, doc. :censored: :argh:
