Who on the left do you respect as a worthy opponent? Are there thinkers who disagree with you whom you still think make strong, logical arguments?
It becomes more and more clear to me that the mainstream left underestimates the intelligence of the Right, as was clear in the Obamacare Supreme Court arguments.
I can think of a couple people I disagree with but definitely respect, but I'm much more interested in what you guys think.
Nat Hentoff is one who, for me, I disagree with often but respect.
Is there anyone on the left whose opinions you disagree with but respect?

John McCain.
O-)
-
John Breaux.
-
Well, both my choices are dead.
Former Congressmen Robert Drinan (D-Massachusetts) and Michael Harrington (D-Massachusetts).
They both stood for much of what I'm against, and were against much of what I'm for, but I cannot possibly question their sincerity, because they actually practiced what they preached.
A rare breed, Democrats like that.

You mean an extinct breed. There are no more classical liberal Democrats. They're all Progressive Marxists. They've purged the blue dogs like Mao purged the educated.
-
Oh wait, who was that bitch in the Obama administration that looks to Mao for guidance?

True. I don't respect any liberal democrat from FDR to LBJ to Obama. They have screwed this country up with their social engineering and massive entitlement policies. They have become leeches on America.
-
In a way, I actually respected Clinton (Bill, not Hillary). Not for his policies or traits, but the guy was a damned good politician. He could take the mushy middle, make them eat a pile of shit, and have them asking for seconds.
That, my friends, takes no small amount of talent.
-
I really cannot think of anyone holding elected office in the Democrat Party. Some of the pundits like Pat Caddell, occasionally Juan Williams when he isn't playing intentionally stupid.
This week was a real eye-opener on just how idiotic and unworthy of debating the liberals on the SCOTUS are.

I was trying to think of Pat Caddell. I respect Lieberman.

Zell Miller is the only 1 I can think of, other than that? no one else, the party has gone way too far to the left and the moderate democrats don't have the cajones to stand up to them.

The reason China can now hit us with an ICBM is because of Clinton. **** Clinton. The Republicans were stupid as HELL for going after a BJ. They should have been investigating his Loral dealings. F'n traitor.

Same here.

Same here again. How about this. I view any Democrat that loves his/her country and isn't a f'n COMMUNIST a worthy opponent.
-

I forgot all about Lieberman. He did sell out his values awfully quickly when he was running for VP but then he did seem to get them back and paid a price.

Wrong. He's the one that took a MAJOR issue when Gore wanted to exclude military absentee ballots. That man is principled. You may not agree with some of his principles, as I don't, but he's true to his convictions and loves the military.

As I stated before, I hated what he did and what he stood for, but damned if he didn't have talent as a politician.

Anita Dunn. She was ejected early on like many other original staff.

Worthy Opponents will debate. Today's Liberals want to stifle debate. They are not interested in persuading people to vote for them, no: they are pursuing vote fraud as a means of victory.
Liberals will not debate, they are pushing a socialist tyranny step by step. They relentlessly pursue totalitarian govt via any means and desire to punish all dissent.
Every single freedom in the constitution is opposed by the left. They cannot stand freedom of speech, assembly or religion. They know they cannot win with the freedom to bear arms.
The left has no apologists or debater, no worthy opponents. They want power, not debate, and they will destroy and kill to get it. The democrats deliberate destruction of the economy is a key factor for them. Vote fraud will only get worse, and violence is an up and coming tactic.
Worthy opponents mean worthy men. The liberals in power now are not worthy. They will institute the Ayer's Purge if they can only get rid of guns.
DO NOT MISTAKE DUMMIES AT DU FOR THE SOCIALIST LEFT. Thees monsters are not in mom's basement, they are on the street organizing fraud and plotting the murder of good people. It is very likely that the Tree of Liberty
will have to be watered in the next few years.
The left is moving, they are relentless and they are evil. They will punish those who disagree with them.

Brilliantly stated. Conservatives that believe otherwise are just naive.

Libs aren't even able to debate in the traditional sense.

I have to give credit where it is due, and Kirsten Powers does defend women without regard to party. I also think if she expanded her circle of friends to include more conservatives, she would be convertable.

We need to win hearts and minds like hers.
