Title: Healthcare thingy
Post by: Gina on March 27, 2012, 11:16:26 AM
Merge me with a healthcare topic if one has been created but I was just at Lenny's sub and they had CNN on.  The anchor was asking some guy that was there on the steps of the Supreme Court what he thought and this guy "Toobin" said that as of now he thinks the individual mandate is going to be struck down.   :yahoo:  Big smile I have!

I think it's pretty disgusting that we know at least 4 Justices will say it's Constitutional.

In reference to the upcoming election? It's the Supreme Court People! and now you can add Obama wanting to disarm us as another reason we need to win this election!

I think she was referring to this thingy here:
Quote
Toobin: Obama healthcare reform law 'in grave, grave trouble' (http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/218427-toobin-obama-healthcare-reform-law-in-grave-grave-trouble#.T3IFOWARsA0.twitter)

A top legal analyst predicted Tuesday that the Obama administration's healthcare reform legislation seemed likely to be struck down by the Supreme Court.

Jeffrey Toobin, a lawyer and legal analyst, who writes about legal topics for The New Yorker said the law looked to be in "trouble." He called it a "trainwreck for the Obama administration."

We shouldn't be at all surprised by this, really.

When Barry stood up in front of Congress and the world and called SCOTUS to task during his 2011 SOTU address, it was tantamount to putting the chip on his shoulder and daring SCOTUS to knock it off.

I think SCOTUS has a very big stick to knock off such a puny little chip on scrawny little shoulders.

Apart from that, when you bluster right through a bill that you don't even know what it's got in it, you can't be surprised when the SHTF.

Judging from the questioning on Day 2 of the case, at least from Justice Kennedy, it would appear that it's going down 5-4.  Did you see where James Carville and Dingy Harry Reid both said that the law being declared unconstitutional is a good thing for Democrats?

They will take a 'straw poll' of the justices immediately after finishing the arguments today.  Thing is, it won't be published until June.

Nancy Pelosi is calling out SCOTUS and daring them to strike down ObamaCare.

Quote
"We knew that what we were doing when we passed this bill was iron-clad constitutionally," Pelosi said during an event in the Capitol staged by Democrats to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the law. "What happens in the courts is another matter, but we believe that we're in pretty good shape.

Of course this is the same scrunt that said we have to pass the bill to know what's in it.

typical moonbat arrogance -- she can't shut her mouth when it's to her advantage to do so. Either that, or she's reading the tea leaves and already throwing in the towel.

I caught your comment in the other thread on Dingy and Carville. To a certain extent, it is better for the Dems since Obamacare -- as transparent as it's been so far to the general populace, relatively speaking -- will never have been a real factor. Ergo, out of sight, out of mind. Status quo (meaning Barry) is perfectly fine (except for gas prices), which may ultimately prove to be the main factor in dumping Barry.

Whether Obamacare or gas prices, I don't really care which of those pisses off the electorate, as long as SOMETHING prompts these people to get off their asses, go to the polls, and vote Barry the hell out of office.

And take "Plugs" with you, Barry. That dipshit has got to go, too.

I look for the left to ape what some DUmmies have already done, blame this on the partisanship of the conservative judges. Some will include Obama's confrontation with them over the Citizen's United case as a reason for them to rule against ObamaCare.

I hope this comes down with more than a 5-4 split, like a 7-2 split with the only justices supporting ObamaCare are the two that Obama appointed.

I think that Breyer will go with the government's position, but I've seen some doubt on Sotomayor on Drudge.  6-3?

Then again, I thought that the SCOTUS was going to split 5-4 on overturning the Lutheran Church having to hire people that weren't Lutherans, and that went 9-0.
