Title: Do YOU support the concept of the "Neighborhood Watch"?

Do YOU support the concept of the "Neighborhood Watch"?

Personally, I am VERY opposed to the entire concept. We have police. People today are capable of communicating much more easily than in the past, with cell phones, with cordless phones which are close at hand.

When I heard about the Martin murder in Florida, my initial reaction was "why should ANYONE be subject to being WATCHED in the first place?" Do we really need amateurs like Zimmerman running around out there snooping on the populace?

What business is of it these self-styled "protectors" who too often turn into vigilantes to spy on us?

I say let police do their job, and let us live without being spied on, harassed, or worse.

Don't be a hero, just shut up and get the hell out of the way if there IS trouble. We don't need the drama that comes from confrontation or snitching. Stuff is replaceable. Lives (yours and theirs) and freedom are not.

It's the job of the police to protect us.

And refuse to testify. Why should I risk the lives of myself and my family and friends over a property crime? Around here, people ain't playing. And as a "snowflake on a coal pile", I don't have the luxury of invisibility.

I'm sorry if doing what I need to do to survive in a not-so-nice area offends people, but my brother and roommate's safety is more important than other people's opinions.

And I am opposed to extensive databases of every facet of modern life.

Why?

Because when dissent is criminalized, the *watching* becomes an arm of the despots and their police state.

And it can happen here. It is happening here.

I am on the side of less watching. Less government and commercial intrusion.

Conservatives used to agree with the stance I take.

Hopefully your neighbors have insurance and /or an alarm system. Even if they don't, stuff is just stuff. So why would you subject your family to possible retaliation by getting involved?

Where I am from - you stay quiet, you stay alive. You play hero...you might get a medal to wear in your casket.

To be fair, some of the DUmmies support the idea of neighborhood watches, but these creeps seem like the types that would stand by and watch a woman get raped. "Snitches get stitches".

Many crimes that happen in the minority areas never get solved just because of those same attitudes.

What the hell?!  Have any of the DUmmies jumped on that comment yet??  Lord have mercy.

I'm sure glad Frodosgoat isn't my neighbor.

Hey, Frodosgoat .... how do you KNOW they are only going in to take 'stuff'?  What if you see them going in, don't call the police then you find out the whole family was raped and murdered?  Still feel good about yourself?

Why did I even ask that.

Hey, w8tedlady, this is what true cowardice looks like.  This is why you gutless, simpering, weaklings should never be in charge of a damned thing.  This refusal to harden your spines and do the right thing no matter what is the reason your neighborhoods are full of criminals who take your things and kill your loved ones.  You are the reason crime and corruption exists in this country.

I would rather die on my feet defending my home than live on my knees and wait for someone else to protect me.  You worthless ****ers disgust me and I wish I never had to call you "countrymen".

DUmmies, if any of your voters forces their way into my house to take my "stuff" or hurt my family, I will defend what I have earned and whom I love accordingly.  Put the word out and let 'em know.

We don't need it here. No diversity, plus I'm armed.

If we had any diversity, I'd want Neighborhood Watch, motion detectors, private security, and Dobermans.

The DUmbass DUmmies have nothing worth stealing. They've never had their lifes work stolen from them by scum. And besides, if they do have something it was either stolen from us or paid for by us.

Shoot the thieving bastards.

Here's where being ignorant of tax laws cost you real money. In the last 2 years (2010, 2011) I've had over $40,000 worth of stuff stolen from me. About 20 thou each year. I reported about half of the thefts. Had no insurance coverage on any of it and none has been recovered. If I had kept the police reports, I could have taken the amount of the reported loses off my income taxes.....I'm going to see if I can get some copies of the reports I did make and file an amended return next year.

DUmmies advocating cowardice. Why does that not surprise me?
If they see something they will say nothing. Oh yeah, I do not want a coward for my neighbor.

Liberals are really working the gun aspects here. Self defense is redefined as racism. Yet another glimmer of light revealing the future for gun rights if obama wins.

So the people that want everybody in government out of their lives are the ones that want government type busy bodies in their lives?

That is some pretzel you got there.

Police can't be always there. So, neighborhood watch is a good idea.

WRONG!

I agree, it serves a useful purpose when done correctly. We had neighborhood watch in the old neighborhood I lived in and almost everyone participated, we had very little crime in the area and it brought everyone closer together...good idea and we had a good relationship with the local LE too. :-) DUmmies are idiots. We know how they feel about being proactive when it comes to personal safety.
