Title: Hillary Clinton's Sunset Boulevard
Post by: franksolich on May 10, 2008, 04:31:44 PM
P-J Comix posted this on freerepublic today, ostensibly a take-off from the early 1950s movie Sunset Boulevard, with Hillary Clinton as Gloria Swanson.

The only thing I know about the movie is its plot about a once-great Hollywood actress trying to make a comeback, and that famous line about movies "getting smaller;" from history books, obviously.

Members of freerepublic commenting to P-J think it's hilarious.  I tried following it, but it's mostly all dialogue, and so remains a mystery to me.  Is it good, or not?

It's good. Funny, with a very scare girl.

It's an excellent parody, Sunset Boulevard is narrated throughout in the 50's "Hardboiled detective" style, and without being able to hear that, both the original (An icon of film noir, not merely a classic) and the parody would unfortunately have little if any meaning for you.  But yes, it is quite good...the drastic overacting of the girl in the parody is not out of place at all given the "Aged ham" nature of the character in the original.

I never saw the original... but this is wonderful.

Only problem is the chick is cute... so looks nothing like Hillary.

Ugly like that is hard to find.
