Why can't jury duty pay a living wage?
Right now serving on a jury is a hardship. The pittance they give you is barely enough to buy lunch. Why can't the pay be adjusted to something close to $1000.00 a week (net). You would encourage more people to actually want to serve on a jury and be more interested in the justice system and not incur financial instability of the participants.
This guy is a up and comer. Worth keeping an eye on.

I received my regular salary, but had to turn over the JD check to the company when I got it.

Any state that implemented such a stupid idea would be in for a world of trouble.

Made me laugh. H5!

Hell, DUmmie, I was self employed and it usually "COST" me over a $1,000 a week to serve.....and that was back in the day when a dollar was worth 50 cent. :-)

Note to lurking DUmmies~
I personally have always looked upon a jury duty summons as a privilege extended to me, not an impediment. You should be proud and enthusiastic at the opportunity to participate in the functions of society in support of our society for the greater good. It is an honor to be called, not an assault on your freedoms. I don't associate civic duty with personal gain, that's not what it is about. It is about community, not personal greed.
Put that in your bong and puff on it...

I wouldn't mind being tried by a jury of "MY PEERS"....but idiot DUmmies get called and put on them. I don't consider them "MY PEERS".

I'd be more worried about it's effect on the legal system than some feeble-minded attempt to get paid for doing mostly nothing (which is what jury duty is, especially if you spend all day in the jury pool and don't get picked at all).

That has been my usual opinion of courts but I have seen a couple of judges that knew how to hold court. None of that TV drama shit. They came to court and meant business. I saw one judge make a hippie lawyer go buy a good suit, shave and get a haircut. Did the same with a couple jurors. The judge said, "We're determining the course of peoples lives here today and it's not going to be done by trash." You don't and won't mind serving when you have a judge that acts like a judge should.

The legless lizzard is upset because jury duty doesn't pay as well as standing on a street corner with a sign.
Nothing more.

I think I understand now.
DUmmy Taverner is a career juror, and he's just between trials.

Why can't the government pay a living wage for making fun of DUmmies? While the people that the rethug powers-that-be pay to mole on DU makes okay money, the rest are barely given enough to buy lunch. Why can't the pay be adjusted to something close to $1000 a week. Normal people naturally want to make fun of DUmmies and DUmmie lunacy, but if they were paid a living wage they could spend less time at their job and more time making fun of the looney left.

Hey I tried but both times I was called for jury duty i didn't make the cut. :cheersmate:

Dear DUmmies--you realize that you'd have to be paid in excess of $75K a year to come home with $1K/week?
What have you EVER done that rates that kind of compensation? Oh, and weren't you the ones who were so giddy about the dipshit who painted lipstick all over her face and pretended she was crazy in order to get out of jury duty?
Consistency--you suck at it.

If Steve Dawes, famous Socialist, is elected to the Bellevue City Council, I'm sure the voters of Bellevue, NE could expect $1000 a week for jury duty.
I'm sure that www.electstevedawes.com will feature this when Steve Dawes adds it to his platform.
