There appears to be some misunderstanding, or at least vague unawareness, of the primary and election in Bellevue, Nebraska.
The race for city council is non-partisan.
However, when a candidate files for an public office in Nebraska, any office, the candidate of course must show that he is a registered and qualified voter on the rolls as an (R), a (D), an (L), a (G), or an independent.
As a matter of courtesy to the public, Sarpy County (Bellevue), lists those party affiliations, but they are not on the ballot itself.
The primary, which takes place May 15, is for a spot on the November election ballot.
The top two vote-getters in the primary advance to that November ballot, no matter their party affiliation.
Given the demographics of Ward 1 in Bellevue, it's likely the two (R)s will be the two top vote-getters, but if the issues between the two (R)s are sharp enough (I don't know what those issues are), the big guy can slip in second place.
It's important that he not get into second place, because we don't want the DUmpster dominated by one single primitive nearly all year long.
Of course the big guy has no chance in the election in November, given the redness of the area, and given that 2012 is shaping up to be an anti-Democrat year.
conservativecave, which has no connection with any of the three other candidates (the two Republicans and the Libertarian), would be eminently satisfied with both (R)s, or one (R) and the (L), getting first and second places, after which the DUmpster can leave the good people of Bellevue in peace and quiet.
The last thing we--anybody, anywhere--need is to have another primitive in office.

Oh man, I figured something like that would be going on sooner or later.
www.electstevedawes.com has some, uh, unflattering comments by the big guy about his boss and coworkers, and about his union and its members, so it was reasonable to expect he'd get into at least a little bit of trouble with them.
Not understanding the warped minds of Democrats (but respecting the professional ones, who at least have an idea how to win elections), I had no idea how the professional Democrats would take this, other than assuming the professional Democrats wouldn't be too pleased with the conduct of their candidate.
I suspect that the Sarpy County Democrats gave the big guy much good counsel when he attended that campaign management seminar some months ago--such as immediately disaffiliating himself from Skins's island and the primitives so that by now, no one would think to connect "Steve Dawes" and "Omaha Steve."
But did the big guy listen to them?

This is what sort of freaks me; I've always observed that most hearing people at times pay no attention to good counsel given them--I suppose that's human--but the big guy appears to be an especially obstinate case when it comes to not listening to other people.

I'm beginning to think that Wee Willie really did go through with his threat to send in the ninja lawyers after Andy's death. I imagine it went something like this...They encountered frank and were never heard from again except for the lone ninja that coach let go. When the surviving ninja lawyer reported back to Wee Willie they had a conversation:
Surviving ninja lawyer: Coach person is animal. Fierce and devious. He can not be destroyed. Never again are to send me back into Nebraska or any of the adjoining states.
Wee Willie: He's not that large of a guy.
Surviving ninja lawyer: I guess the ability of the eyes and mind to determine size is unreliable when the head is getting pounded on by a guy with a crescent wrench. But he doesn't have just one crescent wrench. He has a collection of wrenches of all sizes. When he put down his initial assault crescent wrench I wondered why he was replacing it with a larger version. I soon found out. I guess the large one fit my head better because that's where it hit. By the time I came to the rest of the team had been completely vanquished and the coach was sitting calmly drinking coffee. He told me that he was the nicest guy anyone would ever want to meet, but for some strange reason ninja lawyers just piss him off.

Wee Willie: Why are you so terrified about going into Nebraska or the adjoining states?
Surviving ninja lawyer: He told me that if any other ninja lawyers appeared he'd be forced to open up a can of whip-ass.
Wee Willie: So wiping out a team of ninja lawyers wasn't a can of whip-ass?
Surviving ninja lawyer: I asked him the same question. He laughed and told me that was just some nice, polite fun and games. Opening a can of whip-ass got nasty really quickly.
Wee Willie: So what should I do now?
Surviving ninja lawyer: Pretend like you never sent a team of ninja lawyers. Make more of a buffoon of yourself to make him laugh. But whatever you do you should avoid the Sandhills of Nebraska at all costs. Just think of catastrophe that would result if there were really two him and you riled the both up.
