I think it's wicked cool, but I'd probale never get one because you have to buy the books you load on, and I just couldn't justify that expense when the library is free!!

Wow if that works as well as described it'll be great.  Especially for holidays and travel, no more carrying multiple books around.  I shudder at the expense though, I'd be buying books all the time, perhaps the way to do it is to join up with a friend with similar tastes so you can cut down costs by swapping kindles.

I can't imagine trying to read off a screen like that, even though it says it reads like real paper. My eyes are a mess as it is staring at a computer monitor all day. I would love to see one up close and play with it a little though.

Agreed.  I love actual books, so it's hard to imagine that this device would provide the same feel.

Sony is marketing a similar ebook reader at http://ebookstore.sony.com/ (http://ebookstore.sony.com/).  The downside is that it's not compatible with other ebook formats other than Sony's proprietary.  I've used my PDA and my Blackberry to read books on and find the problem with these devices is that you constantly have to "turn the page."
