Is the time coming, and sooner than we think? 450 million rounds of .40-caliber ammunition is a hell of a lot of ammo.

ANOKA, Minn., March 13 (UPI) -- As many as 450 million rounds of .40-caliber ammunition are being produced for U.S. government agencies by ATK of Minnesota.
The order comes under an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for HST bullets./quote]

Maybe a repeat of fast and furious, but with ammo only this time around.

I hate to say it, but my next purchase of ammo won't be target or ball.

Yeah, our military has never won a battle or war with ball ammunition. /sarcasm

No problem. Ball ammunition is effective, cheap, and has won many battles and wars. When I think of lead-tipped or hollow-point, I think of high-priced deer ammo. You go broke buying that, I'll buy my ball ammo by the case for 140 bucks.

The problem with ball ammo for self defense is collateral damage from bullets exiting targets.

If it came to what you guys are talking about, the collateral damage wouldn't matter.
Each type has advantages in particular tactical situations, and Mars does not allow us the luxury of ensuring we only get in the engagements for which our loads are best-suited.

There is that.
