Does anyone have a recommendation for a light box?

It's been very, very dark here for a whole week and I must get one. I swear, it feels like someone is drugging me with downers because there is no energy and I'm sleepy all day. Argh.

Okay.  Stupid question.

What is a "light box"?

Probably one of those Ron Popeil products advertised on television or something?

1. Costco had the Veriluxe portable pair for about $25 or $30 about a year ago... Not sure if they still sell them, but I really liked having them on either side of my face (you aren't supposed to look directly into them, after all)... Really good deal and they helped a lot. THis year has been so bright and sunny that I haven't really needed one. But, I also have a really great re-chargable travel unit that I love (a little pricey but with LED lights this one is probably going to last):

after which a picture of something that looks like a plastic waffle-iron with a digital clock at its base

If you decide on this one, do a google search under the model as I found the one with the universal (overseas) travel adaptor much cheaper elsewhere. I think it was at a health/medical supply company.

Now, I'm sure this is something poor stupid Beth saw on television.

2. Thanks, I'll check it out.

The order is going in this afternoon because this darkness is now unmanageable.

3. Sky day-light model DL2000CA

I am sitting in front of it right now. A little more pricey but worth every penny. I think I paid about $160 for it.

I sit in front of it 30-45 minutes every morning while I am drinking coffee and waking up, and sometimes again in the evening.

It increases my alertness during waking hours and also provides a moderate mood boost.

Vitamin D supplements helped a ton, too.

And not doing drugs, licit and illicit, would help a ton too.

Shoe boxes are pretty light, Beth.
Try one of those.
You can even put a flashlight in them. :p

It has to do with circadian rhythms.  I seem to remember that there was talk of putting bright lights on missle boats so the crew would have a more realistic day/night cycle.

I guess they really do work, and during the dreary part of the winter when the sun goes down a lot earlier they really are beneficial to some people.  To each is own.

Just get a flashlight and stick it up there, Beth.  Better yet, a road flare.

If she's shopping Popeil, she needs to get a Popeil pocket fisherman.

Good idea. Crickets make great live bait.

Or she could invest in a Banjo Minnow.

Judging from the pic threads, Beth's box must weigh in around 50 pounds.

Dear Poor Stupid Beth,

That is the long term effects of a life supporting Marxist ideology and the thugs, such as Chavez, that it produces.

Unfortunately, even if you see this, you are far too poor in intellect and spirit to grok it.

Poor, poor, stupid Beth.

If she did that, would her eyes light up like jack-o-lantern?   :lmao:

If she wants a "light box", either loose weight or dye it blond.   :lmao:

It's worth a try, I say.  For the road flare, she should have a bucket of water handy in case it starts a brush fire.

When I was a kid, "flares" were called fuzees, and they were only used by the railroad companies. I never heard "flare" until maybe the late 1970s. Anyway, if she's going to light one of those up, she better step outside the camper. Even if she doesn't burn the thing down, the smoke will strangle her elderly addled mother.

If that happened, the DUmp's epidemic of sick mom bouncies would explode.

Mama's got a light box she keeps in the house
When daddy comes home he'll just bitch an' grouse
'Cause it's shinin' all night
And it's really ****in' bright

Mama's got a light box
She ain't wrapped too tight

Well the wine's all gone
And the pills ain't cheap
Cavers made jokes 'bout her ass
They're buncha creeps
Cause she's feelin' kinda gloomy
And the news is kinda doomy

Mama's got a light box
She ain't wrapped too tight

She goes boo and hoo and boo and hoo and boo and hoo and boo and hoo
She's cryin' all night
And she's not very bright

Mama's got a light box
She ain't wrapped too tight

Ev'ryone who sees me
look, they all sees me
Come on and appease me please D.U.
I'm a lib'rul just like you

Mama's got a light box
She ain't wrapped too tight

She goes boo and hoo and boo and hoo and boo and hoo and boo and hoo
She's cryin' all night
And she's not very bright

Mama's got a light box
