There was a leader of a country who bent over backwards for the social and religious conservatives
Wow, this is ERIE. I found it on a website talking about Brownback. Not sure who wrote it because it was in the comments section
~~~~~~~~~~~
There was a leader of a country who bent over backwards for the social and religious conservatives. He outlawed many of the same behaviors and attitudes that the social conservatives of today consider so vital (a_bo_rt_ion, h_o_m_o_s_e_x_uality, graphics, etc). He exalted the church, protected the church and provided state recognition. He touted traditional moralality, he touted religion is schools. To provide a quote, “Secular schools can never be tolerated because such schools have no religious instruction, and a general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air; consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith. . . we need believing people.â€
The social and christian conservatives were so enamored with him they pledged their overwhelming support. He even gained the support of the vatican. In short, he said and did a lot of the same things that today’s GOP candidates are saying and it is almost to a tee of what the social/christian conservatives want.
This leader assumed power in Germany during the 1930′s and within 12 years the world would know about the holocaust.
The worse part is that he had the overwhelming support of the social/christian conservatives and of the catholic church (pope pius XII).
The parallels are striking and they are scary!
These GOP hacks are on their way to repeating history.
Hitler was neither fiscally conservative nor socially conservative, DUmbasses. He was a fascist/socialist authoritarian. Can you name me one free-market, Capitalist dictator DUmmies? I'll wait. As for the "fascist/socialist", he used a mixture. There were private businesses allowed to operate (Schindler comes to mind, so long as he produced what Hitler wanted), but all of the economy was designed and controlled by the German government.
Do some ****ing research, idiots.
In keeping with the political syncretism of fascism, the Nazi war economy was a mixed economy of free-market and central-planning practices; historian Richard Overy reports: "The German economy fell between two stools. It was not enough of a command economy to do what the Soviet system could do; yet it was not capitalist enough to rely, as America did, on the recruitment of private enterprise."[67]
When the Nazis assumed German government, their most pressing economic matter was a national unemployment rate of approximately 30 per cent;[68] at the start, Third Reich economic policies were the brainchildren of the economist Dr. Hjalmar Schacht, President of the Reichsbank (1933) and Minister of Economics (1934), who helped Reichskanzler Adolf Hitler implement Nazi redevelopment, reindustrialization, and rearmament of Germany; formerly, he had been Weimar Republic currency commissioner and Reichsbank president. [68] As Economics Minister, Schacht was one of few ministers who took advantage of the administrative freedom allowed by the removal of the Reichsmark from the gold standard—to maintain low interest rates, and high government deficits; the extensive national public works such as the Autobahns, reducing the unemployment, were deficit-funded policy. [68] The consequence of Economics Minister Schacht’s administration was the extremely rapid unemployment-rate decline, the greatest of any country during the Great Depression. [68] Eventually, this Keynesian economic policy was supplemented by the increased production demands of warfare, inflating military budgets, and increasing government spending; the Reichswehr (100,000 in the army) expanded to millions, and was renamed the Wehrmacht in 1935.[68][69]
Man's capacity for rationalization is immense. More so for lib men and women, it matches their blind spots.
Author Konrad Heiden has quoted Hitler as stating, "We do not want any other god than Germany itself. It is essential to have fanatical faith and hope and love in and for Germany."
Her knowledge of 20th-Century German history is so hosed up that it could go into "The Onion" ... except that it isn't funny, just scrambled facts and brainfarts in roughly-equal proportions.
