Ive always had low blood pressure. Every once in awhile it feels like my heart pounds really strong and I can hear it in my head and feel it in my back, stomach and back of my head. Sometimes in the groin as well. Over the past few doctor appointments it has been high for me, probably considered high normal for "normal" people.
After my MRA's are done (last one it tomorrow) and they have sorted out if anything has changed, my rheumatologist wants to take a look at my renal arteries. We have never looked at them as I never had any symptoms that my disease has affected those arteries.
Anyway, my mom gave me my step dad's blood pressure cuff because I have been concerned about my blood pressure. I have taken it several times today and it has been so low that it is kind of concerning me. It has averaged around 99/43. Obviously 99 isn't all that low for systolic but 43 is very low for diastolic. One reading the diastolic was 40.
I just had a rheumatology appointment last Friday, I have an appointment with my UVeitis specialist in about 10 days (they take your blood pressure at that appointment) and my other rheumatologist (my hot doctor) in a few weeks. I don't remember what my average low blood pressure was so I do not know how low this low really is. From everything I read I should have fainted with a diastolic in the low 40's. :panic:

Drink more beer. No, seriously, this was the advice given to my co-worker from N.O. by his doctor. :-)

How would you rate your aerobic fitness ? It is not uncommon for those who are on the higher ends of aerobic fitness to have low pulse and low blood pressure.

Julie, maybe this site could give you some guidance.

You might also look At hypoglycemia maybe?
On edit: At least that is what it feels like to me.

I have often thought I could have hypoglycemia. When I go to the rheumatologist he tests for almost everything (including obviously SED rate and other auto immune tests) and I have specifically asked if I could be hypoglycemic but every time I go in for bloodwork it always comes back normal.

If it goes to 0/0 then I'd worry.

At that point, all your problems just seem to go away.

Back when my older sister was pregnant with her first child she had some kind of vitamin deficiency or something. Dr. told her he could give her a script for it but drinking a beer a day would do the job cheaper.

I had a low blood pressure the other day after exercise. (90/60) I looked it up on Google and it's either a side effect of my meds or it's a heart related issue, which I DO have that issue. I kept an eye on it and it crept back up throughout the evening. Went for my walk yesterday and everything was fine afterwards.

My wife has low blood pressure. I tell her that's because she CAUSES high blood pressure...
Then the fight started... :-)

I have taken my blood pressure many time since I posted this, my diastolic has been in the 40's except for twice it was 50.

I have low blood pressure. I sometimes feel faint when I'm walking or faint in my sleep. That sounds strange but you think you're dreaming you're fainting when in fact, you are fainting while sleeping.
I can feel my heart beating all over my body too. My regular pressure is 100/70, lower when I'm on Flomax for my kidneys.
I've had just about every test known to man, all normal. The only time I have high blood pressure is when I'm in kidney stone pain and that climbs into stroke territory.

Nearly everyone in my family has or had high blood pressure. I consider myself lucky I don't have it.

Go read DU for awhile, that should get your blood pressure up.

This weekend we were in the front yard and our neighbor came over. We were talking to him and all of a sudden I felt very faint. I could tell I needed to sit down yet I didn't want to say anything in front of the neighbor. It got to the point that my vision was starting to dim. I sat down on a chair I had outside and it went away. I have had this happen before but it was when my disease was active.
Thanks for the links, I'll check them out.

Do Not play around with that stuff. High or low blood pressure same as low and high blood sugar ain't no game both are killers, the low in either will kill ya quicker though.

My doctor is aware of it. He wants me to have another MRA of my renal arteries after we know the results from my other MRA's.

My doctor is aware of my low blood pressure too. She said some people just have it, can't explain it.
I know when I feel faint I tingle. I'll be walking with my husband in the store and I'll grab his arm. I say wait, I feel faint. We stop, it passes and we go on about our business.
I've come to accept it because it's not everyday, I don't have to be sitting and get up quick to experience the rush. It happens out of the blue.
I've never passed out. Well only when I was on flomax. It couldn't be helped. It says on the prescription it can cause dizziness and fainting. When I'm on that, I get up slowly.
I also have an enzyme in my blood that causes my blood to clot faster than most people. I am considered an excellent blood donor. Only thing, the few times I donated, I couldn't drive home. I felt super faint.
This all started when I was very young. If I had something, I'd assume by now I'd be dead. :-)

What is your blood clot disorder called? Is it the same one that can cause a miscarriage?

Mine is usually somewhere in the 90's over 60-something. Has been for as long as I can remember. The nurse at my doctor's office usually takes it twice. When I first go in, and then about 10-15 minutes later, because it comes down in that time. I hate going to the doctor, and going makes my BP go up.
I've only been able to donate blood one time. For years I didn't weigh enough, now that I do, my BP usually isn't high enough. Not sure it really was high enough the one time that I did give it, because I was a mess for about 24 hours. They wanted my blood though...I'm O+ and the blood bank had put out a request on tv for donors.
-
I'm part of a group that can donate blood, wasn't able to for years, I still can not sell/donate plasma though.
Never been a problem with my blood/plasma was just in the wrong part of the world at the wrong time.
Couple times during my cancer treatment my BP was something like 195/100. The strange thing was I felt fine,no dizziness, no head aches etc.
-
For years mine's been about 110 or 115 - and between 70 and 75.

You being an old fart anything that could excite or upset you has already been experienced. :cheersmate:

That's so true, and the upsets continue to this day, every day, with the APIC in our house painted white.
