Title: chronically helpless primitive congests her dining room again

Oh my.

It's been less than a month that the chronically helpless primitive, who's always rushing over to Skins's island with her questions, boasted that she could finally use her dining room, having given away a lot of junk to someone to sell on eBay for her.

And now she's clogging up the house again.

There's no hope for such people.

Need quick help. TodayI saw a wonderful, old leather chair and hassock. I would have bought them in an instant if I was not afraid of bedbugs. Anyone know a way that I can leave the chair and hassock in the car and perhaps fumigate the car to kill anything that might be lurking? They were in a used furniture shop.

I want to call the seller in the AM and, if the chair and hassock are available, I'd like to buy them but I'm afraid to bring them into the house.

Any good ideas? I can leave them in the car(SUV) for any amount of time to assure the (fumigating?) job is done but I will miss out on them if I wait.

Perhaps they are sold already but if I still have a chance, with treatment, to own them. I want to buy them.

The leather needs some good shoe polishing but there are no rips or major wear. Super comfortable.

The vindictive primitive, the notorious re-seller:

1. I've got the same bedbug fear and won't buy used upholstered items.

That said, I would think you should be able to tell whether there's a problem if you can see anything of the frame in the underside. I've never actually encountered bedbugs myself, but supposedly when you go to a hotel you can check the seams of the mattress and box springs for evidence of bedbug poo.

2. Well, in for a dime as they say. I bought the chair this AM.

When I went back, I looked everywhere I could see and the chair is spotless. The leather just needs a good polish and treatment to condition it. It sits in the back of my Pilot now, waiting for somebody to help get it into the house.

Then there is the problem of selling my current leather chair. I'll try Craigslist. It is in mint condition so someone should want it.

It was over 2 thousand dollars new but of course, I would never pay that. Bought it at a Consignment shop for $325.00.

I even called my daughter who is a doctor.

She told me never to buy rugs or mattresses and there is little chance on the chair. Hope she is right.

The price on the new one was also very cheap. Don't mind a little work on the leather.

Wish me luck.

PS. Can spring be far behind? Yard sale time!!

3. If you haven't brought it in yet...

my SO suggests that you put the chair and ottoman in plastic bags (such as for a mattress) and let the fumes work that way rather than in your car.

Also remember that whatever you use make sure it is not absorable because the leather (skin, afterall) will absorb the residue, then leave the residue on you when you sit in it.

4. How hot does it need to be to get rid of bedbugs?

Would the heater in a vehicle be enough to kill the bedbugs if it were on "high"?

She wants to sell the chair on Craigslist? OK, I'm a Republican, according to the stereotype I'm supposed to be greedy, so why do I give my things away on Freecycle?

Yes, I think it would be because of your greed. DUmmies think we realize more from the charitable deduction than we could from a sale.

I'm not what you'd call charitable, but I usually donate old stuff and never sell it.

If it's old enough, the guys who deliver the new stuff haul it away.

I don't want the kind of people who'd be buyers to come around my house.

We have some DUmmies and 0bamaites even here in red state hell.

On Freecycle you don't get a receipt so you can't claim it as a charitable deduction, but I've donated items to Habitat for Humanity and they insist on giving me a receipt with the items value even though I don't want it, and I usually just rip it up and never claim it.
