Title: Limbaugh Drops Company That Suspended Ads From Show Over Fluke Remarks
Post by: mrclose on March 08, 2012, 06:19:48 PM
For all the crybaby libs that were so happy about Rush 'losing' advertisers and 'thinking' that it would hurt his show .. looks to me like they (advertisers) are starting to have second thoughts and Rush ain't having it!

Rush Limbaugh has rejected an advertiser’s apparent attempt to reunite with his show after the company initially dropped its ads from the program following his remarks about contraception advocate Sandra Fluke.

The company, Sleep Train, calls itself “the No. 1 Bedding Specialist on the West Coast, and most recognized mattress retailer in the region.”

In an email to Sleep Train President Dale Carlsen (obtained by The Blaze), a representative of the show says that Limbaugh personally considered the company’s request, but denied it considering its public comments following the controversy.

“Thank you for your requests last week and this week to restart your voiced endorsement in local markets of The Rush Limbaugh Show,” the email begins. “Rush received your requests personally.”

“Unfortunately, your public comments were not well received by our audience, and did not accurately portray either Rush Limbaugh’s character or the intent of his remarks. Thus, we regret to inform you that Rush will be unable to endorse Sleep Train in the future.

Sleep Train sounds more like a local or regional bidness... they sure aren't a national brand unless they do business under a different name in my area.

Maybe now, after a poorly conceived misstep, they will have to settle for a lot of number 2.

Sleep Train is an employee-owned company. Union?

Some of the comments over at the Blaze page are priceless.

Which would hurt the 'tards more, Rush saying, "No.", or Carbonite saying, "Oh, please."?

I hear they picked-up a new celebrity endorser:

"When I'm spending all day on my back rather than attending my $46,000 a year classes I spend it on a Sleep Train mattress." --I'm Sandra Fluke

Let this be a lesson to advertisers.

People who produce and earn money know the difference between satire and misogyny. If you succumb to fake, out of context concerns, and think that you will lose money by being boycotted, you have now seen what a REAL BOYCOTT is like.

Yes, a REAL BOYCOTT.

That 20% Carbonite drop was mostly a result of your shortsightedness in understanding basic economic principals. You let idiots at DU and Daily Kos dictate your business decisions. But you of ALL people should have known the REASON you advertised on Rush in the first place is that he has 20 million listeners a week (closer to 12 million unique listeners). That's 12 million people who, on average, have more spending capital than virtually any other mainstream media source on the planet. And when their own sensibilities are threatened, such as your kneejerk response to such a non-issue, frankly, then they will act in ways THEY feel they can do.

In this case, they BOYCOTT you by cancelling or negating any services you provide them.

It's one thing for a William Pitt to scream noisily sitting behind his screen in his tighty whiteys eating Cheetos that your business would be hard hit. But it's another when you have hundreds, or thousands, of customers who look at you running from this as an admission that you don't "get it."

Let this be a lesson: Understand human nature, not the media.
