Gas Prices Now A Big Factor In Presidential Election
March 7, 2012 7:10 PM
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — It might be one of the biggest issues in the upcoming presidential election. Last night, CBS News exit polls found 77 percent of those voting in seven Super Tuesday states say rising gas prices were the most important factor in their vote.
The poll reflects growing consumer anxiety as gas prices have risen nearly 50 cents a gallon in just over two months.
Consumers have been telling us they are cutting corners because for most driving is a necessity. Here in Minnesota the
In Minnesota the average price is 3-58. The current national average for a gallon of regular is 3-76, but some analysts are predicting that gas could rise to $5 by the summer.
When you are an independent contractor like Tod Matthison, driving 200 to 300 miles a day, rising gas prices mean a smaller paycheck.

Reid: Democrats will kill Keystone amendment
By Andrew Restuccia - 03/08/12 01:29 PM ET
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Thursday that Democrats have the votes to defeat a GOP-backed measure to approve the Keystone XL oil pipeline.
"The answer is yes," Reid said when asked if Democrats would kill the measure.
"Everyone should just calm down on Keystone,†Reid added. “Just take a deep breath, folks.â€
Reid’s comments came just hours before the Senate is expected to vote on an amendment to transportation legislation that would force approval of the pipeline. The amendment requires 60 votes for passage.
The majority leader stressed that President Obama opposes the GOP amendment, but does not oppose the pipeline itself.
The Dems want high gasoline prices--the better to force the American public into not-ready-for-prime-time technologies that are many years away.

So, we see-saw back and forth.

Never underestimate the stooooopidity of the GOP or their presumptive nominee, Romney.
“I think people recognize that the president can’t precisely set the price at the pump,†Romney said in an interview on CNBC.

Actually, when the president is taking a personal hand in constricting the energy output of the country, yes, he can precisely set the price at the pump, Mitt-wit. :thatsright:

When Bush was President, it was him setting the prices. Now that Obama is President, it is opec; the speculators; and oil companies - anyone but Obama. Mitt is a twit. He can help bring the prices down, but this admin is doing nothing about it.
