Title: Rice-A-Roni
Post by: BEG on March 05, 2012, 07:00:18 PM
Who here loves the way it smells when you are sautéing it before you add the water?

I know the food nazi's will say I'm a poser for liking Rice-A-Roni.

I've always loved Rice-A-Roni even though I haven't had it in years. I used to want to go to San Francisco to get some real Rice-A-Roni but I heard the place that invented it went out of business a long time ago.

We make our own out of spaghetti, rice, grated carrot ,onion and garlic. Add beef or chicken broth I love it.

Not at all...one of my favorite "cheap/easy" meals...brown some hamburger, drain the fat, then fix according to box directions with a little salad on the side.

I like them Chinese meals you can get at the store. through the box and all in the nuke for 5 mins and its done. eat the meal right out of the box. the  only dishes to wash is the fork or spoon you eat the meal with. Cheap too they cost about $2.00.

We eat it at times when it's on sale at the Grocery Outlet. Usually I'll "fix" it with some extra seasoning. Lately my wife has been making "homemade" Rice-A-Roni. Usually just ground beef, rice and brown gravy mix. It's not bad.

I like the Tony Chachere box mixes the best though. I've been picking up the Dirty Rice, Jambalaya, and Red Beans and Rice mixes at the 99 Cent Only store and then getting Andouille sausages at the Gross Out for $1.99 a package. Love the stuff.

I haven't heard coon's age in a coon's age. How long is a coon's age anyway, once in a blue moon ?
