Hey folks, remember the DUmpster promulgated what's called the "Sarah Palin rule" some months ago.
It's in the rules and links thread here in the DUmpster.
I thought for sure our esteemed colleague Tucker would be the first to take advantage of this most-excellent new rule--he read it, and we discussed it--but perhaps Tucker's doing some strategic waiting, before using it.
Nothing wrong with that.
But I'm a little impatient, so I'll make the first move.

You know, the primitives have questioned the abilities of both Richard Cheney, because of his bad heart, and Chris Christie, because of his weight, to govern, should they be elected into some office.
The primitives--and remember, the big guy's a primitive too--have oftentimes preached that a person in failing or otherwise bad health shouldn't hold elected positions.
Okay, fine. I can go along with that, if the rules were applied the same on both sides of the aisle.
We all know Omaha Steve is a, uh, rather big guy, a really large guy.
He sleeps with the assistance of one of those machines that pumps oxygen into one as one slumbers.
That's a pretty good indicator of really bad, probably failing, health.
The big guy started working for the waterworks five years ago, and almost immediately got hurt. And he's been hurt several times since. In fact, his whole five years with the waterworks, he's had to take considerable time off work, and the taxpayers of Omaha have spent considerable money on his medical bills.
He's not in great shape.
It'd probably be better for the big guy to concentrate on losing a couple of hundred pounds first, so as to be in shape to govern.

We all can see that his health isn't that great. However he is also not one to follow advice so I'll wager that he will stroke out or have a massive coronary first before he gets help.

That could be one reason for Steve Dawes beinig a lifelong supporter of Socialism. Whenever one sees video of socialist countries, whether it's Cuba, or North Korea, or Red China, or Nicolae Ceausescu's Albania, there are never any lardasses like Steve Dawes. Everyone looks really slim, and trim, and healthy, except for the little kids.
Apparently democrat party policies, strictly enforced, lead to healthier lifestyles than under conservative governments, where people can spend as much as they like on an endless supply and variety of food.
Maybe the morbidly obese Steve Dawes supports Socialism because he envies the fitness level of people on the streets in Mogadishu.

I dunno what they're called; I've only ever seen them without paying much attention.
They feed in oxygen while one's sleeping, and the people I know who have them, are not people I'd consider exactly "physically fit."
And so the question--the exact same question posed by the primitives about Richard Cheney and Chris Christie--is Omaha Steve physically fit enough to govern?

Of course, Ceausescu was the commie leader of Romania, not Albania, before they shot him and his wife.
But before he met the firing squad, he was a lean, mean, fighting machine, and a socialist role model for Bellevue's Steve Dawes.

To be fair, a C-pap machine is used for sleep apnea, which is often, but not always, associated with being overweight. They don't actually feed straight oxygen to your lungs, just standard room air. However, using a C-Pap machine doesn't necessarily mean that one is in failing health. My uncle uses one, and while he could probably lose a few pounds, I'm fairly certain that he is not obese, and he is a very active man, always doing something or other to improve his house and yard, plus his job requires a fair amount of physical activity.
A more indicative issue for Steve Dawes is his extended stints on disability. I never got the impression that his job was an overly physical one, and so what is to stop Mr. Dawes from being rendered unable to perform his duties as City Councilman if he bends wrong and "injures" his back at some point.

Somebody please tell me that is just a shadow under Steve's arm, and not a patch of armpit sweat the size of a pizza.

I would worry about the city council chairs. Steve has fallen off of a chair before. It could cost the city losts of money. You know.
He would need a specialty chair to make sure it would hold his big self.

He looks heavier in this photograph, than he does in others. I wonder if it's the most-recent belly shot he's had (not face shots he's posted).
I fear he's dangerously close to Las Vegas Leviathan territory.
As I said many times before, it's a good thing that during that accidental encounter with the big guy, I kept my distance, lest he slip and fall on me. The ambulance crew would have to pick franksolich up with a spatula, and deliver him to the mortuary on the cookie-sheet, if such an unhappy fate befell me.
Now again, I ask the primitives: if fatness "disqualifies" Chris Christie from governing, what's up with this?

Unlike his compatriot the Leviathan, who flip flops around on feet the size of toilet seat lids, it looks like socialist Steve Dawes has to make do with normal-sized feet. I'd imagine a guy his size with normal-sized feet would be pretty unstable. I would have kept my distance, too.
