They're deliberately obtuse, I just know it. Who the hell cares who uses birth control? Most women I know have used it at one time or another. I just don't care to see anyone's 1st Amendment rights violated. I don't see why the 30 year old can't go out on her own & get a prescription for Walmart (or Walgreens...they all have $4-5 ones now) for their generic birth control...$60 a year. That will still buy a boatload of condoms for disease prevention. If you know going in that a school has a particular policy because of their religion then take care of it yourself or go to a different school. But if you choose to set yourself up as an example of someone who needs $1000 a year for birth control then you're going to take the heat.

No kiddin'!! just how many condoms is that exactly? She can't be talkin' about any other birth control, 'cause it just don't cost anywhere near that! Seems to me, that's one helluva lot of ****in'!! And they wonder why Rush used the word "slut"! Gimme a break!

And this, my students, is liberalism 101. Never argue the actual issue at hand(1st amendment rights). Instead, make up an straw man that is vaguely related to the issue and argue against that! Arguing that those evil soulless Republicans wanna hurt women and ban birth control is soo much easier that arguing what right this administration has to force catholic employers and institutions to cover contraception in their health insurance coverage. Genius, I tell you!!

Freeper is spot on with noting the timeliness of this of this whole puppet show.
DUmmie ohio joe is too stupid to see this whole thing for what it really is. It has absolutely nothing to do with birth control, that is just the slick hot button packaging being used to further the wider leftist agenda. It has everything to do with pandering to the entitlement mentality in a bid for big government to gain control over all things medical in our lives and that is no small thing.

Actually Rush explained it all last week.

The whole "Contraception debate" started when George Steponallofus pulled a question on it literally out of his ass at a Republican debate he was moderating back in mid-January.

Apparently it was done because The Immaculated Won was losing female voters left and right, and the White House ordered the state-run Propaganda media to pull it's ass out of the fire.

I'm sure this has already been stated, but I find it freaking hilarious that they always want the government to stay out of their bedrooms, not to track their health conditions, etc. but are more than happy to give that all up for the $9.00 / month cost of generic birth control.  Idiots all around.

I still like Rush, but in pursuit of an even larger audience he's doing a lot of damage to the GOP.

He's single-handedly keeping this birth control bullshit the number one political issue in the country, giving the Kenyan cover, and forcing a debate that cannot be won.

Rush's audience will grow by leaps and bounds, and his advertising revenues will shoot up, but the jug-eared muslim couldn't be happier.

I've got to agree.  Rush should stick to economic things, such as the price of gas, and how the Obamessiah's spending has weakened the dollar and driven up the cost for oil and gasoline (and everything else) along with it.  That will get the Obamessiah out of office, and a Kenyan village will regain its missing idiot.

Except this will blow over in a week. 0bama's doing everything he can to run from his record. Problem is, he's doing it too soon. Typical DUmmie, selfishly shooting his wad before his partner has a chance to catch up. No wonder Michelle always has such a angry, pained look on her face.

A difficult issue. I think one of the biggest problems we have is that conservatives have ceded the debate on social issues to the left.

I may be very wrong, but this "Fluke" controversy may be an asset to the right.

The Left is pinning its entire cultural battle on a 30-year-old Georgetown pre-law chick who has so much recreational sex that she needs us to pay for it. I'm thinking that's not going to play well in Peoria. Again, I may be very wrong.

My reasoning, not Splashdown's:
Newt turned it around pretty well on Stefanopolis this morning.  When Steffy asked him about Rush's apology, Newt quickly acknowleged that Rush had apologized and that was a good thing to do unlike Obama apologizing to Afganistan for the burnt Korans.  Good plan, if they're going to hound every Republican about Rush's apology then let them, just quickly acknowledge it and then turn it right back around on the left.  Make them sorry for it, or at least make them pay through the nose a little every time they pull it.
Yeah Rush apologized.  When is Bill Maher going to be asked to apologize for calling Sarah Palin a c**t?  When is Obama going to give back Bill Maher's million dollars?  Let's see Jay Carney or Obama himself answer those questions.

Thanks.  Later this morning on the web, I saw Newt hammering David Gregory on MTP even harder than he came at Steffy on this issue.  I haven't seen Santorum or Romney get asked what are their thoughts on the Rush situation yet, but Santorum handled the aspirin between the knees badgering by Charlie Rose in much the same way.  After what the state controlled media did to McCain, any Republican that thinks he'll get a fair shake from these snakes is a fool.  Might as well rip into them hard because they're never going to win them over.

Very true. The memory of the average voter precludes this from affecting their vote in November. Unless they (the lib/dems) can keep this stirred up until then.

I just don't understand how a 30 year-old law student could not know about the insurance policies offerred by every major university in the country. It seems to me that before going in front of Congress crowing about her "need" for birth control, paid for by someone else, she should at least have been honest that she really just doesn't want to go through the steps to get the insurance already available to her.

Dear liberal,

This is not a debate about birth control; it is a debate about who has the responsibility to pay for birth control and whether an institution that is protected by first amendment freedoms should be FORCED to pay for something it finds objectionable. I know you are so focused on words like FORCE AND CONTROL so I think it's important you pay attention to them here because at issue is whether religious institutions with(stated again in case you missed it) first amendment protections from this kind of state intercession and control should be FORCED AND CONTROLLED to provide something they are within their rights to object to. Making this whole debate even more insidious is the fact that the thing they are being forced to pay for can be reasonably accommodated by most budgets and only affects the portion of the population able to produce children.

I know, dear liberal, you have a tendency to lean to the straw man and allow yourself to get mired in the subterfuge of your protected little buzz words, but this really is the heart of the matter:should a constitutional right be stomped and violated to accommodate the LIFESTYLE/financial choices of individuals ie should a church be FORCED to provide a service or product that runs contrary to it's doctrine? Should anyone for that matter be forced to provide something that there is not constitutional guarantee of protection or provision? I find this to be the heart of the argument overall when provision for the common defense continues to be stripped and attacked while we find new things that everyone seems to think they were guaranteed: cell phone, birth control, etc.j

PS Something tells me the toad that stood up in Georgetown with her fabricated story would be using her newly acquired legal skills to defend Muslim's against violating their usury laws under first amendment protections and every liberal stomping their feet now would fall right in line. I'd bet the last dollar in my pocket on that one.
