Oh.My.Good.Gosh....... the union he works for endorsed him!!!!
Hooray, hooray, what a happy day!!!!
You honestly couldn't write this crap if you wanted to... :lmao:
-
And he's six effin' words from the end, too--as if an afterthought! :lmao: :rotf: :lmao: :rotf: :lmao: :rotf:
-
I figured it would be something like this, but the big guy made me expect something bigger than this.
-
Ewwww.
You know, this isn't going to go over well, this endorsement of the former senator.
The guy who signed up to run for the seat after the former senator said he wouldn't, before he changed his mind (again), is and always has been, a strong labor union man.
Bob Kerrey never belonged to a union in his life.
More internecine warfare among the decimated Nebraska Democrats.....
-
A union goon got an endorsement letter from an organization he pays monthly dues to.
What's next, a note from his mother telling everyone what a nice boy he is?
-
The grammar nazi must point out that the first line of the endorsement is not correct.
-
Oh whoa.
They're endorsing Brenda Council for the state legislature, when Ernie Chambers is running for that seat?
The union bosses must've been smoking good hash when they deliberated their endorsements.
This is not going to end well. For the Democrats, that is.
-
I thought this was gonna be Stevie's endorsement. :-)
-
I thought this was gonna be Stevie's endorsement. :-)
It's down there in the fine print.
-
It's down there in the fine print.
Well there is one person mentioned after his name.
-
Whoa, I guess his opposition is in deep sh*t. :panic: :lmao:
-
Well there is one person mentioned after his name.
Yeah, the one candidate running unopposed, a former state senator if I recall correctly; a Democrat somewhat to the right of Ben Nelson.

It's down there in the fine print.
Ohh I see it now, wow with publicity like that Stevie is a shoe in. :-)

The article?

Thats it?!!
On the endorsement. The only thing people will see is Bob Kerry getting the thumbs up. No one will scroll down to read the fine print.
and having your name at the bottom of a list of candidates means nothing either.
Steve, dude, you have a 1000 bucks. Print some flyers with a message, insert them in windshield wipers at a mall. Buy an add, DO something!
*** this is just pathetic.
Look. You have a captive audience at DU. USE THEM. Write a flyer, a press release, or a simple speech and print it out. Free feedback from the DUmp. They will give you good suggestions. Then come here and see how the opposition will react.
--Get fellow DUers to pose questions and answer them in a safe environment.
You need to address certain issues.
1) The pot holes. Basic city maintence stuff. every candidate need to hit this stuff.
2) schools. Family issues.
**** Now thats stuff your oponents will say.
**** Here is a suggestion on how to stand out.
3) Unions, more than just the platitudes every politico caters too...You have an inside view few (if any) of your opponenst have. Do you think unions will be good for every worker in Bellevue? Do cops have the right to strike? Talking about WI might bring home the bacon for you.
4) National issues. Gay Marriage. Abortion rights. Gun rights. You, Steve are an up and coming politician. Time to give the impression that you are well versed in all things.
Steve, the months will fly away before you are ready. ACT NOW.
-
He needs to come out against right-to-work, he needs to pledge that he'll make it mandatory for any contractor doing work in Bellevue to use only union labor.
Above all, he needs to be sure his lifelong devotion to socialism is made clear. That alone will separate him from the pack, and ensure that he gets some local press coverage.
The DUmp has established a fact that whenever a democrat loses, it's because he wasn't far enough to the left. Here's a chance to prove that out.
-
Steve Dawes for City Council is turning out to be the worst novel since Kira Piekoff's Living Proof.
Seriously, people, learn how to engage your readers or you wont have any very long!
-
Hey Stevie :loser: :loser2:
-
Hey, Steve, you need to stand out from the crowd.
Be sure to emphasize your strong anti-military message. Post that picture of you with the world-famous anti-war demonstrator Cindy Sheehan.
You know the picture I mean- the one where she's giving you a little wiggle-finger while you try to hold it together for the camera:
You'll awaken a sleeping giant. Ride that wave, Steve!

Damn son when you are right you are right. Run left Steve, run left.
Oh and you guys really need to learn how to spell Kerrey's name that is the second thread over there I have seen where folk claim to know Kerrey but spell his name wrong. It is Bob Kerrey and John Kerry. Both served in Viet Nam but it is Bob, a MOH SEAL who admited feeling guilty about killing women and children.
In 2001, the New York Times Magazine and 60 Minutes II carried reports on an incident that occurred during Kerrey's Vietnam War service. On February 25, 1969, he led a Swift Boat raid on the isolated peasant village of Thanh Phong, Vietnam, targeting a Viet Cong leader that intelligence suggested would be present. The village was considered part of a free-fire zone by the U.S. military.
Kerrey's SEAL team first encountered a peasant house, or hooch, and killed the people inside with knives. While Kerrey says he did not go inside the hooch and did not participate in the killings, another member of the team, Gerhard Klann, said that the people killed there were an elderly man and woman and three children under 12, and that Kerrey helped kill the man. Despite the differing recollections about who actually stabbed these people, Kerrey accepts responsibility as the team leader for their deaths: "Standard operating procedure was to dispose of the people we made contact with," he told the New York Times Magazine.[7] Later, according to Kerrey, the team was shot at from the village and returned fire, only to find after the battle that some of the deceased appeared to be under 18, clustered together in the center of the village. "The thing that I will remember until the day I die is walking in and finding, I don't know, 14 or so, I don't even know what the number was, women and children who were dead," Kerrey said in 1998. "I was expecting to find Vietcong soldiers with weapons, dead. Instead I found women and children."[7]
Kerrey expressed anguish and guilt over the incident:
You can never, can never get away from it. It darkens your day. I thought dying for your country was the worst thing that could happen to you, and I don't think it is. I think killing for your country can be a lot worse.[8]
Kerrey was awarded a Bronze Star for the raid on Thanh Phong. The citation for the medal reads, "The net result of his patrol was 21 Viet Cong killed, two hooches destroyed and two enemy weapons captured."

Ya know what? I don't believe a damn word of that shit! He's doin' nothin' more than playin' to the base in order to get his BJ's on election day!
I call BullShit! Has anyone ever corroborated this tall tale, or is it like Kerry, who BTW served in Vietnam, and all a bunch of shit?
-
Today, Bob Kerrey and John Kerry are both socialist democrat swine.
The huge difference between them is that as a young man Bob Kerrey served his country honorably, while John Kerry has been a lying traitor his entire adult life.

Kerrey was a no-shit SEAL Lieutenant. Lost part of one leg to a grenade, was awarded the Medal of Honor. After his wartime service and recovery, he owned restaurants and a health club in Lincoln.
He was a moderate Dem, and a rock-star governor. Debra Winger lived with him in the Governor's Mansion for awhile. The joke in Nebraska was, "How do you slow down Debra Winger? You put a governor on her!"
He made the big left turn after he was elected Senator.

This, from the newspaper today:
Things have changed since last Kerrey run
When Bob Kerrey last presented himself to Nebraska voters 18 years ago, he won re-election to the U.S. Senate with 55 percent of the vote — a neat trick for a Democrat in a Republican-dominated state.
With his announcement Wednesday that he's running for his old seat, he'll have to see if he still can work the ol' Kerrey magic. But things have changed.
Going into the 1994 election, Republican registrations in Nebraska outnumbered Democrats by 90,000. This year the difference is more than 180,000.
In fact, 48 percent of would-be Nebraska voters are registered as Republicans, 33 percent as Democrats and 19 percent independent or nonpartisan.
Even for a candidate with name recognition like Kerrey's, the path to victory in this Plains state will mean he has mountains to climb.....

I still don't see killin' innocents, even if you are a Seal Team member. Even if it was Nam. Just sounds exaggerated to me, sorry.
If I'm wrong, I'll be the first to apologize, but I've just seen too many of these pricks pander to the left in order to get votes. Hell look at the DUmp already! They're ready to jump on the band wagon already, and I'm sure some of it is because he turned his back on the military!
Like I said, when I can see some corroboration I will rescind my comments.
-
He'll fail.
Kerrey's been out of the state for nearly 2 decades, and his time at the New School hasn't endeared him to Nebraska voters.
I think Bruning and Stenberg are both strong candidates, and your point about the R-D gap is an important one, frank.

But, obviously, any of the (R)s are fine with me.

I'm not familiar with Sen. Fisher, just read a little bit about her. She looks like a good fiscal conservative, and would represent Nebraska well.

Traditionally, eastern Nebraska has one U.S. Senator, and western Nebraska the other.
This, despite that 67-75% of all Nebraskans live in the southeastern corner of the state.
The current (R) Senator, Michael Johanns, is from Lincoln.
All the (R) candidates for Nelson's seat are from Lincoln. And Kerrey of course is from Lincoln, even though usually he claims Omaha. He's really from Lincoln, and not fooling anybody.
(Nelson is from McCook, hence he's the "western" senator.)
-
Ooooops.
"All the (R) candidates....." excepting for Deborah Fisher.
Sorry.
-
I just don't see Nebraskans voting in a DemonRat after what happened with the last election.
-

We won't.
As Airwolf has said so many times, it's a different Nebraska now, than way back in 1994, when the Democrats were riding high.
-
By the way, late afternoon when I checked the Bellevue site, I noticed the big guy's wife isn't on the list of candidates for the Board of Education there. And today (Thursday) at 5:00 p.m. was the deadline.
One wonders what's up with that.
-
Tsk. Progressive liberals like Fat Steve don't use submissive terms like "wife". The appropriate possessive is "partner".
Another perfectly good word ruined by liberals and faggots.

By the way, when one nadins "Steve Dawes," it automatically sets to "Steve Dawes Bellevue," and on that page, nine of the links are to here. One wonders what's up with that, too.

Well, it's slowim' down, so I'm gonna hit the hay! I gotta get up around 3:30.
See y'all on the flip side!
'night.

It looks like Big Steve Dawes of Bellevue is really investing a lot towards the gentrification of Olde Town Bellevue. I did an image search and it looks to be a fairly typical, small Midwestern town. Not affluent, but certainly not in dire straights. I spent my summers growing up in Sheldon, Illinois working on my uncles farm, it was the same kind of place.
Big Steve may think that he can turn Olde Town Bellevue into Riverwalk, San Antone, but unless he has some very serious backers, I have my doubts.
-
Here's a thread where the Weeper posts newspaper clippings on the Ward 1 election, with each candidate listed along with his platform.
DUmmy Omaha Steve agrees with everything the incumbent says. He's just agreeing with the competition. Really stupid.
He's telling voters to elect him and they'll get the incumbent's business-friendly policies, from a socialist left-wing radical who's sucking up tax dollars on light duty at the sewer plant.
That's a sure loser.
He needs to highlight his lifelong support for socialism, require city contractors to be union only, outlaw possession of handguns, and invite Lincoln and Omaha occupoopers to Bellevue.
Democrats only lose when they are afraid to be liberal enough.
Steve Dawes needs to celebrate his socialism. Bellevue will love it.

He's been on the sick, lame and lazy list at the shithouse so long that they probably regard him as Legend. The rest of the union poo-slingers still have to actually work every now and then. He hasn't lifted a hand in years and he's sporting a framed Vic Morrow autograph, plus he is running for public office. He is their inspiration. :cheersmate:

You know, I'm greatly disappointed the big guy isn't doing that.
He's speaking with a forked tongue, telling the primitives one thing, and telling the newspapers another thing.
Someone needs to set the record straight, what the big guy really thinks.

Steve "became a loyal fan of Bellevue East girls basketball team about 12 years ago...Having watched the team for so long, he and his wife about 5 years ago decided to move Bellevue". (sic)
Steve Dawes, dedicated Socialist, moved to another city to be closer to a high school girls' basketball team? A team he "became a loyal fan of", despite having no personal connection to the city, the school, or the team.
Creepy. Betcha Steve Dawes wears his special trenchcoat to the Bellevue East girls basketball games; the trenchcoat with the holes cut in the pockets.
That also explains the use of the word "spurt" in his article. That's a word you don't often see in a candidate's bio. It creates an odd juxtaposition:
Steve Dawes
girls basketball
spurt
Could that be one of those "dog whistles" the DUmmies like to talk about? I wonder which dog Steve Dawes, dedicated socialist and high school girls basketball fetishist, is trying to call. Perhaps he thinks Olde Town Bellevue is filled with sexual deviants, and he is courting their votes.
-
Well, apparently the wife of the big guy isn't running for the Bellevue Board of Education, as promised.
March 1 was the deadline for filing.

let me get this straight, Stevie wants to demolish what I am certain are historic Nebraska buildings in order to attract new business. Gee, what a great ****in' idea!
Me thinks he's already in the right place for his talents.

Has anyone ever, ever, sold their home and relocated, just to be closer to a high school girls basketball team, with no children and no connection to the team other than being a fan?
That's both creepy and crazy.
But it's no crazier than travelling all over the country to buy autographs from obscure bit players in forgotten TV shows of the 1960s and 70s.
Or having tens of thousands of posts on a lunatic-fringe marxist website.
Or professing one's lifelong devotion to socialism while starting a political campaign in one of the most conservative states in America.
Either Steve Dawes is a moron, or Bellevue Ward 1 is a tiny enclave of Stalinists in an otherwise bright red state.
The Ward 1 incumbent is a Republican, so ......

Yes it is. I could have sworn I read he was promoted OUT of the Omaha Parks Department and had to move but I could be wrong.
Maybe he threw in the basketball stuff to make himself look good. Like referring to himself in the 3rd person on DU.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
William M. Tweed
Member of the U.S. House of Representatives
from New York's 5th district
In office
March 4, 1853 – March 3, 1855
Political party
Democratic
Profession
Politician
William Magear Tweed (April 3, 1823 – April 12, 1878) – often erroneously referred to as William Marcy Tweed (see below),[1] and widely known as "Boss" Tweed – was an American politician most notable for being the "boss" of Tammany Hall, the Democratic Party political machine that played a major role in the politics of 19th century New York City and State. At the height of his influence, Tweed was the third-largest landowner in New York City, a director of the Erie Railroad, the Tenth National Bank, and the New-York Printing Company, as well as proprietor of the Metropolitan Hotel.[2]
Tweed was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1852, and the New York County Board of Supervisors in 1858, the year he became the "Grand Sachem" of Tammany Hall. He was also elected to the New York State Senate in 1867, but Tweed's greatest influence came from being an appointed member of a number of boards and commissions, his control over political patronage in New York City through Tammany, and his ability to ensure the loyalty of voters through jobs he could create and dispense on city-related projects.
Tweed was convicted for stealing an amount estimated by an aldermen's committee in 1877 at between $25 million and $45 million from New York City taxpayers through political corruption, although later estimates ranged as high as $200 million.[3] Based on the inflation or devaluation rate of the dollar since 1870 of 2.7%, $25-$200 million is between $1 and $8 billion 2010 dollars. He died in the Ludlow Street Jail.

I would like to see data on public union employees retirement situations.
Among the few I know, maybe a dozen more or less, at least half retired early on disability.
One of the major benefits of belonging to a public employees union is that they employ shady physicians and lawyers to certify and fight for disability pensions.
All unions, public and private, do that, but in the public sector they're a lot more aggressive and successful because democrats wrote and signed their contracts.

Damn!! Where do I find one of these criminals? My back is in worse shape than prolly 80% of these assholes on disability! Amazing if yer not "connected", how difficult it is!
What i want is to be employed by the powers that be, to run around and video tape these "disabled leaches"!
Ya wanna know how much corruption I could expose? Hell, if we could decrease the fraud, I think it's impossible to eliminate it, might be a little easier to give the aid to those that actually deserve it!
Ever watch those "Gotcha" videos on the tube once in a while? Everyone I've seen has some asshole walkin' in all crippled up to his Doc. After he's done, ya see him comin' out and pushin' his car to start it, or somethin' in that order. The Mofo is milkin' the system, and him and his partner in crime, the Doc, know it!

What? Since when have the Police and or anyone else called for new facilities to work out of? If I'm not mistaken the city of Omaha not long ago just built a new training facility that was open to any area law enforcement agency. The cost alone for building a new and relocated building for the police and city hall isn't justified because the current building fits their needs. Typical DUmbass Spending money when there isn't a need. The people of bellevue are not asking for it neither is the city.
I'd like to know just what this so called "Magnet attraction" Is that he's talking about. The location of the City Hall/Police station isn't big enough for a GAs Station and it sits across from a school where kids are going to and from there during the chool year. Why put another gas station in the area when there already is one just up the street? I would think the potential increase in traffic would be a problem with kids younger then high school going to and from home plus the need for the school buses to have access to the school. THis is one idea that should sink faster then the Titanic.

Well, they've never learned to think things all the way through, including ramifications and unintended consequences. That's why you can't trust a single democrat in elected office.
I have no idea what that "magnet attraction" is he's thinking about. Could be anything. A girls basketball court?

Is Omaha Steve going to be Will Pitts newest BFF since the last one got locked up for kiddie porn? Does Steve Dawes from Bellevue take pictures of the girls while playing?

I certainly wouldn't be surprised. I don't know anyone else who follows "girls" basketball like he does without havin' a relative involved.
Somebody wanna 'splain that to me?
Sounds kinky to me!

Not kinky, downright sick.

you brought up unintended consequences as a conservative I would love it if we the american people would start treating the sickness of our country. The main problem or sickness is the unintended consequences. The "New Deal" the Minimum Wage act of 1938. These allowed the Gov. under the guise of it is good for the american people to control every aspect of living we have. The unintended consequences needs to be the battle cry for the Next Generation of United States voters or there will not be many to follow.

Uh, bubba, have ya been to the lounge and introduced yerself so we kinda have an idea who ya are? If not, it might be just a tad early to dive into the thick of things.
Be better if ya hit the lounge and let us know who ya are. Even we get Trolls.
Mind ya, I'm not accusing, just bein' careful.
