Oh my.

The chronically-helpless primitive, who's always running to Skins's island to have the primitives figure something out for her.

For the first time in months, I can get into my dining room.

I sent a good size group of merchandise to an eBay reseller late October. He did a great job for me. Pictures were fantastic and his descriptions were always exacting. I was very pleased.

He came again Sunday and took the rest, including the linens and my 5 foot Snoopy.. Some is already up for sale . Pleased at that.

This man has a 100% rating and I can see why. I read all the replies from his customers, whether it was my merchandise or not.

It has been a pleasure dealing with him. He knows I am not trying to make money, just move things along to a new owner. There were some great buys for some folks.

I'll tell you what did poorly.

Early brass push-up candlesticks. I had 4 sets plus 3 singles. Lost badly on them, they were in great condition and had the push up in tact.

Glass and china did well, Waterford extremely well.

American Indian pottery and blanket did great as did some of the old baskets.

Silver plate--so-so. The Victorian silver plated items were not worn but did not bring many bidders.

It is fun watching what goes on. I get an e-mail every time he posts new merchandise so I can see how things are going.

Got my fingers crossed. His postings are on my watch list.

Using a reseller was a first for me and he did better than I could ever have done.

I am thankful.

Well, that's all good, of course, but it probably would've been easier just to give it to Goodwill or a Red Shield store.

1. Understand perfectly. Our last house had a "formal storage room".

Having grown up around pack-rats, and knowing far too many Democrats, liberals, and primitives who try to fill a spiritual longing within themselves with "things," franksolich has always had a loathing for "storage space," as to him, it seems decadently materialistic.

And so I've gone the opposite way in life.

The garage here, for example--reasonably new, built twenty years ago--can hold three sedans or station-wagons, but I never park my vehicle in it, even during winter, for fear I might need the space for storage.  Other than the tool-boxes kept by the property caretaker and the neighbor against one wall, and a stack of six 25-pound bags of cat-litter against the opposite wall, there's nothing in it.  One could hold a square-dance under its roof without having to move a damned thing.

The living-room, which could probably contain ten times as much without crowding, has four items in it.

The kitchen--well, don't ask, as the kitchen, which is very large, is even less crowded than that.

<<franksolich likes "space."

2. Reseller was best thing to happen to me

Now, every time I get a pile of resellable things together I call the reseller and she drives right over to pick it up. It is listed in a few days time and all I have to do is wait for my check. So glad your experience was a good one.

The bad origami primitive's full of shit on the silver-plated stuff.  With silver prices as high as they are, that stuff would still be being bid on.

If you're not trying to make money then why not use Freecycle?

I think the primitive is too lazy to list her own things, and is letting a 3rd party sell for her for a percentage of the profit.

That's not nice though, what about the poor people who could use the items but can't afford to pay ebay and shipping prices?

Helping poor people is only done by the '1%' via diktat. - anyone not part of the '1%' isn't responsible.
