"Message deleted by the DU Administrators"?

I saw this for the first time today, on a post that from the username I'm guessing was probably one of the literal spam (buy cheap rolexes type) posts. I'm curious what guidelines/planned use the admins have for this feature. Is it only going to be used for plain spam or might it also be used for extra-offensive posts, etc. as an additional measure beyond hiding by jury?

1. I expect they'll use it anytime they damn well feel like it

Which won't be often, but when a post needs to go, go it will.

2. I agree--this is their sandbox; we're just guests, some paying, some freeloading!

3. I'm pretty sure it's been done when personal information about another poster has been posted

don't have a link, though.

5. We occasionally delete posts.

The two reasons I typically do it:

-- If a post has personal information about a member, it is not good enough to simply hide the post because the personal information remains available with a single click. So I will delete those when I am aware of them.

-- If a person has been banned, I might delete their posts if they violate the DU terms of service. The most common reason I do this is if the post is spam. Leaving spam on the board provides an incentive for spammers to do suicide missions -- create account, post spam, get banned, spam stays, mission accomplished. I have deleted a few spam posts recently.

Ya know what's sad?

Skinner has a little over half as many posts as does Nads. :thatsright:

He may have only half as many posts as nadin, but usually in a single one, my fellow alum makes a hundred times more sense than she does in all of her 100,000+ put together.

His posts are the size of War and Peace, so it's not really apples and oranges.

Couldn't an admin have a feature that just quietly deletes posts with no fanfare?  Say, for "Get Cheap Viagra Here!" posts.  The DUmmies get all discombobulated too easily.

Error.

You know, the old dude's been less and less of a presence on Skins's island the past few months.

I don't think it has anything to do with the infirmities of age, though.

His wife used to be enthusiastic about him hanging around with the primitives, and sometime she enthusiastically joined in the antics, too.

But she's pretty much gone now.

It looks as if she doesn't want the old dude hanging around with the primitives, too.

I dunno why that is, but that's the way it seems to be.

Could be because the school she works for got wind of her lunatic posts at the DUmp! Kansas is still pretty conservative.

You're thinking of Anne, AR.  Stinky is in Baltimore.  Anne is in Kansas City.

Ah! I thought they were in Wichita! Pretty sure the teachers union in Baltimore would give her a medal!

Well there's a swipe at the poor.

I've got to try and watch this MADem primitive some this year. S/he's as dumb as they come, but with the exit of other primitives has started to project their stupidity more loudly as of late.
