TAMPA (CBS Tampa) — Talk about pain at the pump! Some Florida drivers are spending nearly $6 a gallon to fill up their gas tanks.
According to GasBuddy.com, motorists are shelling out $5.89 for a gallon of regular gas at a Shell station in Lake Buena Vista, topping out at $5.99 a gallon for premium. It doesn’t get better at a Suncoast Energy station in Orlando, where drivers are paying $5.79 for a gallon of regular.
“Prices over in the Disney World area are much higher than any other place in Florida,†Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman, told CBS Tampa, adding that people regularly complain about gas prices in that area.
Its nearly $5 a gallon in California. Nearly $4 here in Iowa.
--Mods I put this into Politics because its going to doom Obama. He will do nothing about this.

The left is defending him and the MSM will only repeat what the White Mosque tells them to. I'm already hearing their main talking point about how oil production is at its highest in years. Of course they give no credit to President Bush who allowed more drilling, which is where the increased production is coming from.

damn i thought is was better in FL than MN

They don't have a state income tax in Florida though.

"If you're suggesting that there is responsibility for a rise in the global price of oil, it's certainly not because of anything he hasn't done to expand domestic oil and gas production," Carney added.

Well in all fairness I guess it really isn't his fault.
Elsewhere in the news the price of a Whopper soars to $9.69...

MSM and the Obama crowd are telling them for free....well, that is if you're a welfare/foodstamp democrat. If you're a taxpayer....well.....

Those evil jews are needlessly antagonizing Iran to drive up oil prices because they hate Obama.
Don't believe me? Read DU.

We don't have a state income tax in Nevada and we are not paying anywhere near Florida's prices.
It's at $3.70 a gallon for regular as of today.

Hi,
I don't get it. We live in Lakeland which is 50 minutes from Disney and we are paying $3.65 for regular. If folks are paying that kind of money it is likely an interstate gas station with no competition.

Tampa has Busch Gardens, are prices higher in Orlando near Disney?

Im guessing they are soaking all the tourists in the area who don't leave the interstate and need a quick fill up.

That's still cheaper than we get here in Florida, at least in Sarasota. It's about $3.67 today. This weekend we made our trip to Ft Myers to the Costco store, as the Costco just broke ground in Sarasota and won't be ready til the summer. We got mid-grade gas near Northport (north of Ft Myers) for $3.77 at a Hess station.
They can't open that Costco quickly enough for us. These 50-70 mile trips to Costco are getting costly, but the dogs like their food and the kibble is good and inexpensive. We go about once a month. The drive is pretty and sort of like a little mini-vacation. We sometimes go up to Clearwater or Tampa to their Costco. When there, take a quick trip to the Crate & Barrel store which we don't have in Sarasota.

Disneyworld is out off the beaten path, so to speak. Basically if you don't go into Orlando proper, you have Lake Buena Vista (Disney) or the places out by the airport.
They're basically taking advantage of people not going anywhere else. Go a couple of miles in any direction, according to Gas Buddy, gas is $3.60-3.70.

Or son lives near Orlando, and there is an infamous gas station.....which just happens to be the last one before the airport rental car return, that always charges at least $2 more a gallon than the prevailing price.......just a ripoff artist, preying on those that think they are saving money by filling their tank before returning the car......turns out that it would be cheaper to pay the gas surcharge that the rental company nails you with......

Years? Horseshit. Domestic production is roughly the same as it was in the late 1940's. Nowhere near what it was in the late 60's/early 70's.

1948, to be exact. Domestic production is highest since 2003, but never declined below 1.8 billion barrels.

Geez people why all the outrage? Just inflate your tires and get tune ups. That alone will save the amount of oil that we would get by drilling :-)
Americans aren't stupid, so they know that drilling more oil would never work.
Yes 0bama actually said that today. :censored:

I know! I could not believe it. Well, actually I can. It just really angered me. I stopped at the gas station to buy some Rockstars and premium was at $3.89 a gallon. By the time I need gas again, I'll be paying over $4/gallon.
