Furious Rick Santorum Fights Charlie Rose Over ‘Gotcha’ Question On Aspirin Joke: ‘This Is What You Guys Do!’

Rick Santorum is sick of talking about Foster Friess. Can you blame him? This is a candidate surging to the front of the pack right now who could change everything with a win in Michigan, and it’s a candidate who, all along, has had to work around the perception that his personal views on social issues might be too extreme and out dated for 2012′s America. So, of course he’s angry that he’s spent every interview of the last day talking about a crappy, sexist joke that should have stayed in the 1950s. It appeared that that anger hit its boiling point this morning on CBS when Charlie Rose tried to broach the topic again.

SANTORUM: Hold on, Charlie. When you quote a bad joke from a supporter of mine that somehow I’m responsible for, that’s “gotcha.”

ROSE: No one’s saying your responsible, Senator. They’re asking how you would characterize it and what you said to him. Not that you were responsible. It’s to understand how you differ from what this person said.

SANTORUM: So now I’m gonna have to respond to when every supporter says something. Look, this is what you guys do. You don’t do this with President Obama. In fact, with President Obama, you went out and defended him from someone he sat in a church for 20 years and defended him with “Oh, he can’t possibly believe what he listened to for 20 years.” This is a double standard, it’s what you’re pulling off, and I’m gonna call you on it.

What do you expect when you have media 'gatekeepers' like Charlie Rose running the show?

The crowning shot would have been if Santorum called Rose a 'propagandist.'  That would have put him in his place. :evillaugh:

Santorum was right on target, and said just what needed to be said on that double standard.  Shining moment for him!

He was right on target, but do ya think anyone in the stinkin' MSM will pay any attention? These lefty shills could care less about the truth! They'd like us to be like Europe, just like O'bummer and his pet gorilla would!

If Santorum is the nominee the only questions he will get will be about abortion, queers and birth control. They will either force him to sublimate he beliefs and risk alienating the social cons or he will give the libs an endless supply of stupid quotes to alienate independents.

Anything to distract from Obama, the economy and the assault on the COTUS.

Unfortunately, you are right. I like Santorum; but do not believe he will beat Obama. The MS Media will eat him alive for his religious convictions; even though that should not be an issue in this years election.

ONLY if you believe this line of thinking. I for one, do not. Obama is absolutely vulnerable, and the MSM is doing everything it's it's power to deflect from that fact.

A lot of people didn't think Reagan could beat Carter, and the polls were virtually neck-and-neck until their 1980 debate.

"Are you better off now than you were four years ago?"

Holy crap, what a line that would be now.

Except that if any candy-date were to use that line today, they'd be immediately arrested for inciting to riot, what with all the torches and pitchforks that would pop up on the Beltway's horizon.

I'd rather take a chance on Santorum being able to set aside his personal religious beliefs and act in the interests of all, and be able to convince people of that, than to take a chance on Romney actually staying a "Conservative" for a nanosecond longer than it takes to get elected, and then pursuing whatever take he thinks most expedient once he has the power of incumbency behind him and doesn't think he needs the Conservative base any longer.

Out of the park like a composite bat on a tennis ball.

Sorry, Romney supporters--he is what he is, and what he is could NEVER be defined as conservative.

I know a Pennsylvania libber who is going up the wall in fear of hearing President Santorum.  I am loving her discomfort. :yahoo:

Although his little "satan" comment the other day made me do a major facepalm.

Yeah, though apparently it was really from an appearance at a religious school (Or something of the sort) about four years ago, but digitized video lives forever.

He was my first choice after Herman.  I got no problem with what he said in 2008.  I agree with him and I would never be described as devote anything.  Listen to what he said and then listen to what Obiefuhrer said about America no longer being a Christian nation.   :fuelfire:

And the Dems know exactly where all those video files are and will not hesitate to use them. Hell, for that matter, the Paulbots are teaming up with Mitt "The Snake" in how best to torpedo Santorum.
