This story just inspires the hell out of me, she is just an awesome human being!

FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (Feb. 17, 2012) -- At 9 o'clock this morning, Sgt. Sandra Coast will graduate from Basic Combat Training on Fort Leonard Wood, officially beginning her Army career - at 51 years old.

According to the U.S. Army Recruiting Command, the average age for an Army Reserve recruit is about 23, making Coast one of the oldest people to go through Basic Combat Training.

"Everybody in the world thinks I am a total nutcase," Coast said. "I just want to support our troops. I love all of them."

There is much more of her story at the link.

I retired after 22 years, but I am physically in better shape now than I ever was while on active duty.  If the Marines would take me back, I'd go in a heartbeat.

51?  No thanks.

And yeah, funny how when I got out, I quit smoking, started running, etc.

I stopped running a couple of years ago.  Time to get back into it if I want to run NYC next year (probably too late to start and be ready for this year.)

I would definitely go back if called, but I'd have some cardio work to do, and about 20 pounds to lose.
