Ho hum.

More proof my fellow Nebraskan's a child when it comes to understanding politics.

Competition within the same party is not a weakness.

If it were, how come the Democrats aren't running Nebraska, then?

Ho hum again.

By the way, I don't see that Marta's filed for the local board of education yet.

One wonders what's up with that.

I looked it up, because my only contact's ever been with the Sarpy County GOP, which has a mole or two on Skins's island now watching our fellow Nebraskan like a hawk.

Steve Carmichael is the chief building inspector for the city of Bellevue.

Oh my.

My fellow Nebraskan has in fact been busy.

This, from the letters to the editor of the Omaha World-Herald, February 11, 2012:

Quote
Not enough praise for Jim Etter

With great sadness, I read a Feb. 6 news story that Jim Etter was retiring after 38 years of highly distinguished service to the City of Omaha, its residents and its communities.

I will miss him. I first worked under Gentleman Jim as a cashier for golf concessions in the early 1990s. It was not easy to be a seasonal employee in the front area of Elmwood Park Golf Course. Jim let me know after just a few weeks that I was appreciated and made a difference to the golfers.

I found Jim to be more than fair with his part-time help. I've never in my years heard an opinion to the contrary.

Years later, I found myself at Fontenelle Park as a full-time caretaker. Jim made sure the Parks and Recreation Department knew how well I handled a dog-control problem that hit my playground in the summer of 1996.

I have never forgotten the fair treatment I received from Jim under the system. Like so many in the golf community, I can't say enough about the praise that Jim deserves.

Steven L. Dawes, Bellevue

I can't count the number of jokes one can make about the big guy handling a "dog-control problem."

By the way, when one nadins Steve Dawes Bellevue, the first listing is his journal on Skins's island; that's good for checking out what he really thinks.

And the fifth listing is a short thread by formerlurker here in the DUmpster.

I hadn't checked any of this stuff yet because I was waiting for my fellow Nebraska to announce his platform.

But since he's taking so damned long to do that, I figured I'd start checking.

Steven Dawes (City of Omaha/semi skilled labor), (Zip code: 68005) $250 to ACTBLUE on 06/28/07

He's been rather tight with contributions since the Democrats took over; must be the hard times the Democrats brought with them.

His platform is on "double secret probation" until a week before the election.

If he announces it now, he'll scare off the dozen or so voters he has now.    :lmao:

Steven Dawes - Omaha, NE | MyLifeâ„¢
www.mylife.com/stevendawesCached

My name is Steven Dawes. I was born in 1957. I currently live in Omaha, Nebraska. Before that, I lived in Bellevue, NE from 2006 to 2009. Before that, I lived in ...

I dunno what's there; one has to be registered to see it.

I'm really disappointed this didn't show up when I nadined, even though it's been the most-widely-read of all the top DUmmie awards for 2011:

#03 Top DUmmie of 2011 (Omaha Steve)

Mr. Carmichael cannot maintain this elected seat then without resigning from this position.     Note this position pays $11K per year, that would affect Mr. Dawes disability claims present and future.

He better rethink this then.

It absolutely isn't when it is a local seat like this, I agree.     Mr. Dawes is trying to unseat an incumbent.   He should have been campaigning hard starting a year out from the election.

OK, I started my morning right to come here. Sarpy county is already involved in DU data mining? Steve is sooooo screwed right now. further DU2 should still be up...thanks Skinner! More gold to be found.

I can't wait for the interview with the auto salesman to hit the papers.

Carmichael might be retired, I dunno.  I didn't check that far.

I usually go to the Omaha World-Herald, a major newspaper, for information about Bellevue, a suburb of Omaha.  Bellevue has its own newspaper, but I haven't checked it out yet.  Probably there's a story why there's two Republicans running, but I just haven't checked.  As mentioned, I was waiting for my fellow Nebraskan to make the first move.  He seems to be stuck in "stall," and so I only just now started.

This reminds me very much of something that happened on Skins's island circa seven years ago, when Beth kept announcing, for days and weeks, that a scam was impending, before she finally got around to launching it.  Which of course struck one as ludicrous; if someone was in dire need of immediate medical help, a fund-raiser would've been launched right away without the long drawn-out preliminaries.

So we got the same thing going on here, Chief Sobbing Bull omitting to remember that in politics, the "right time" is usually "right now."

I notice that he has a link to Paypal...

Does the great state of Nebraska have any issues with candidates for local elections receiving funds from out of state, potentially indeed out of country?

We're a small state (population-wise), and out-of-state money is always pouring in to influence our elections, especially from the Democrats, liberals and primitives.

It's an issue of Great Irritation to Nebraskans excepting of course to the recipients.

And yes, it does hurt candidates and issues who solicit out-of-state.

Hmmm....$250 to "ActBlue".  That is the same amount that ScaryLabia donated to them.

Think of how much internet that could have bought.

Just look how much outside interests pour money into Wisconsin.  New York doesn't have problems like that, that I'm aware of, but if I were in a state where the unions started swarming in from nationwide, I would be extremely pissed.   None of that swarming effect has any applicability in the Dawes campaign, though.

:lmao:  Look at the resume-padding!  1996!  Dog issues!  See how well I handled it!  :rotf:

As a matter of fact, in 1996 I had a German Shepherd who successfully graduated from training class.  Got a diploma and everything.  Everyone impressed?
