Title: JohnnyDingle prepares to shut us down with no possible response from us
Post by: SSG Snuggle Bunny on February 15, 2012, 02:09:56 PM
Devastating.

Frankly I don't know how we'll counter this:

What to say when Republican friends complain about higher gas prices.
No doubt over the coming months leading up to Memorial Day, we'll all be hearing Barstool Republicans carping about rising fuel prices at the pump and connecting the spike to poor leadership in the White House. I admit we played this political parlor blame game during the Bush years, and it's absolutely certain to happen again this early spring.

That's why I concocted a pre-fab response for when I find myself seated next to some Steve Forbes wannabe at my local, and he goes off on how bad a job the president is doing at keeping the local price at the Speedway station at 1988 fantasy levels:

"Do you think Obama should lift the sanctions on Iran and let all that oil flow our way?"

Of course the knee jerk reaction from the right wing jerks will be the McCain strategy of invading Iran and taking all the oil for ourselves, but that poorly thought out reply can be easily countered with a reminder that another 10 year war would just add to the cost per gallon and completely freeze that country's crude production for years to come.

"Beggars can't be chooosers" hopefully finishes the discussion.

All i could think of saying in retort is...

...we could just drill in the Gulf of Mexico

or the Dakotas

or Colorado

or Pennsylvania

or the Outer Continental Shelf

or ANWR

or build the Keystone XL pipeline

or build more refineries

or build more nuclear reactors

or stop pissing money away on biodeisel

or stop funding green energy cronies

But what do I know. I'm not a DUmbass.

No, no, no.  You don't seem to understand.  If a primitive brings up the topic of Iran and sanctions when discussing Dear Leader's policies causing gas prices to increase, you're not allowed to stray from that topic.  Mentioning things like drilling domestically, etc.. is automatically off limits.

Just tell him "HELL YES, I want the sanctions on Iran lifted, and that's why I support Ron Paul!!!"

16. We are not the market for Iranian Oil

It would not flow our way even with no sanctions.

But not before somebody says something stupid:

12. ...By buying my groceries at Giant, I can save 40 cents per gallon at the local Shell station. Doesn't that seem like the real price should be 40 cents lower?

How can you live day-to-day and not know the basics of business and marketing?

Late 2008 levels, the summer of 08 was $4 and higher.

The first "freeper" he tries that line on will probably say, "Yeah, lift the sanctions on Iran.  They're worthless.  Instead, just wipe them out and take that oil for ourselves!!"

Poor Ringo will have to crawl back to the DUmp with a dozen bouncies to restore his self-esteem.

This is the recurring DUmmie wet dream, shutting conservatives down with a single sentence.
Too bad its never really happened. If this were the case we would see it all the time on TV.

Tell ya what, JohnnyRingo. Come on over here and demonstrate just how easy it is to make conservative speechless. It's easy. Just be honest and don't act like a troll and discuss a few things with us. we won't ban you. and all of DU will see just how you can shut us down with a few words.

Libs aren't really pro free speech. Maybe limited free speech would be a better description of what they would support.

Considering we get the majority of our oil from Canada and by merely implementing (even before it starts to flow) "drill here, drill now" would introduce competition, I'd say that argument would fall flat on it's face, like Willie Boy at the end of an evening at Burkowski's.

The Republican will turn around and say no, Obama should do what the American people want, including some Democrats, and say yes to the Keystone Pipeline!

Wee Willie didn't fall he was taken down from behind by Chef Boyardee (first reported to be a brick) :rotf:

And JohnnyDingleBerry's argument will fall just as fast if he plops down beside the SSBunny.  'Cause he nailed it.

Actually it was a brick...he supposedly chased the brick thrower down with a can of chef boyardee! :-)

I expect it's where the DUmmie spends all his free time, so it's not like he'd be discussing it anywhere else.

I would settle for 2008 levels.  :bird:

Or 1998 levels--those were even lower in absolute dollars than 1988, and adjusted for inflation, near the lowest ever.

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_percentage_of_us_oil_comes_from_the_middle_east

Quote
What percentage of us oil comes from the middle east?

Answer:

In 2007, about 23% of U.S. "imported" oil came from the Middle East. This percentage includes the following countries: Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Saudi Arabia makes us 17% of that 23%. This is according to the U.S. Department of Economics.

Iran, Iraq, Kuwait and Qatar combined supply just 6% of our oil. This is where johnny's argument falls apart.

Any lurking DUmmy care to point this out.

The answer to from the 'Forbes Republican' should be " Three words : Drill. Baby. Drill. (with Pittian dots) " , followed by "Iran doesn't even enter into the conversation"
