So why does the religious freedom of the Catholic Bishops trump the rights of workers who EARN the
benefits? The bishops make it sound as if the benefits are owned by the Catholic employers. They aren't. It is not their money. The benefits are owned by the workers who earned them. How is this different from a Jewish or Muslim employer telling their employees that they can't buy pork with their salary?

A better comparison would be, forcing a Jewish company to serve free bacon in their cafeteria.
DUmmies are so stupid. :banghead:

Are they seriously comparing Religious freedom to birth control pills?

They wouldn't care about that, but a restaurant being run by Muslims and forcing them to serve bacon? that would cause outrage!

:whatever: Last I checked that pesky old Constitution said something about religious freedom and nothing at all about free elimination of pesky pregnancies. Darn it, pesky antiquated crap! Always foiling the dummies time and again. :panic:

Quote from DU
"The benefits are owned by the workers who earned them. "
Free reproductive care is earned ?
If I wasn't so good at deciphering liberalese, I may have gotten thrown off the gametrail with that gem.

Because, unless you are under a contract including a certain level of health insurance, health insurance is a benefit that could be cut at any time and shifted to COBRA or nothing. Since 0bozo HellCare came into effect your raise has gone to the biggest insurance rate increases since records have been kept. That's what is known as bending the cost curve down by super smart people.
BTW, 0bama was losing, did lose, and continues losing on this issue. America is much smarter than you think you are.
-
Yes, "bending the cost curve" is what lib/dems are good at.

Back in the 1950's when Dad was home from Sea on leave he did all the cooking. One day I came home from school and Dad was win the kitchen waving about pots and pans, pots bubbling on the stove fry pans heating up.
Me--Whats for dinner Daddy?
He----Jewish Chicken.
When we sat down to his table I found that the Jewish Chicken was Pork Chops.
Aboard his ship, the Navy at that time served everyone the same thing, the crew had a choice to eat or not the food served, Religion, or allergies were the problem of the crew man, not the problem of the Navy.
Sensitivity was not on the menu for 170 + crew men out to sea for months on the NORAD Line. Darn the names they had for food with an ethnic twist was every day to them, the Irish Stews, Polish Kielbasa, Swedish meat balls, Italian Spaghetti, French Fries, Yankee Clam Chowder. No one gave a thought to what they called Hot Dogs, or the ever plentiful Spam. I think you can figure out what they were called.
Back then a bunch of mixed nuts had one nut that was called a N**** Toe. Seems few took offence, the food product was just renamed as was the Jewish Chicken for pork.
Interesting for me to watch the Navy and my Dad adjust to a life of the military becoming unsegregated in all fields.
I can not blame Dad, he went into the Navy in 1938, just took the rules and segregation as a part of life, he was not one to question the President of the United States. As wars and time marched on things changed, BIG TIME.
I believe he would have stayed for a whole 30 years but all the changes came too fast for him. Once out in civilian life it took him a good 5-10 years to adapt to the new life where all the rules had changed. The military and civilian life had changed, but he never lost his 22 years of renaming chow as it was called for half his life.
Quite the generation and we loose so many of them each year.

They (we) don't call them "The Greatest Generation" for nothing. All my dad's brothers served in either the Army or the Corp of Engineers during WWII. My Dad was the 7th of 9 children (8 boys) and the only one that served in Korea from 1952-53, section chief for a battery of 105mm cannons.
Whenever I would whine about how cold it was on the farm, he would laugh and say "This ain't cold. You should have been in Korea."
Jan 29th was the 15 anniversary of his passing, and I still miss him... :bawl:

Watched a program last night on the Black fighter pilots that risked arm and leg to become fighter pilots in WW2.
Damn what they in a segregated military went through to serve their country. Biggest problem for them was the brass that gave them no or little recognition or worked to make them have the same help as the White pilots. Perhaps this is why the Black pilots achieved as much or more then the pilots that were favored. They sure showed us, and the Brass.
Not to mention the American Japanese that served our Country and did so with Valor while their family's were in dentition camps all their lives ripped apart every darn thing they had worked for generations stolen by the government their sons were fighting for.
Not so strange as in my generation I watched Rickover and his battle to just graduate from Annapolis. The page on his class graduation was perforated so it could be removed. Damn a JEW as an officer, unheard of. He won't amount to much.
Strange the history of the military, for years a Catholic officer was the last to be promoted. Surprised the Hell out of me as a civilian to read about this years after the fact. [ Or is this still going on in one shape or form that is not talked about? ]
New page in History, the Muslims and their raise to the top ranks in the military. The civilian life Bankers, Doctors, Lawyers and every thing that life brings to us.
Only Years will tell of how the Muslims will preform, as it did for the Blacks, Jews, Japanese and the German and Italian Americans.
Latinos, if we have a draft, be they Illegal or not will be swept up, how will they preform. How to set up a boot camp and keep the city gangs separated from one another. This was a major problem for the Nam war.
Much goes on, religious problems for the Military, I can not imagine a Sub closing in on an enemy at the 5 time a day down time to pray. Fire fights in the ME and in the middle half the company has to stop, prostrate and pray ??
This one will be interesting, Pentagon and a emergency where the top brass is called in for a conference and 1/4 of the brass stop listening and throw themselves on the floor to pray.
Dad was right, when one goes into the military they leave behind all but to protect the country. They bring with them their faith in God, this is personal, no one else cares about their belief, and love of family and the do or die for country and loved ones.
Korea was a bitch, still is, had Truman not have been so jealous, MacArthur would have lambasted past the 38 parall and Korea perhaps would not today be facing down the North under insane leaders.
The greatest Generation did not just serve in WW2, the youngsters that went in at the last year or months of the end went on to Korea and Nam. Hell of a bunch of Men and Woman.
So why are our returning Veterans with out jobs or education today, what happend to the GI benefits to educate them and, OH yes the Veteran has to put part of their slim pay into an account to pay for benefits when they get out, if they get out alive.
Back to the past for those that are paid dirt cheep for their lives, we as Americans OWE them a free education, as the least we can do for their protection and lives on the line for us.

1) birth control is not a right, it's a technology
2) birth control was not earned by the worker, it was dictated by the government.
3) nothing is "earned" until BOTH worker AND employer agree to terms of compensation, anything else is theft

Because the men who wrote the law protecting that religious freedom were light years smarter than you and your fellow filth.
Now shut up, get off the computer, and supersize my fries, DUmbass.
-
The Catholic Church has been refusing to give free birth control to its employees for about 2,000 years or so. Why is this such a surprise to the DUmmies?

But I earned that shiny new computer that I "brought home" from work. :whistling:

It's a little thing called the 1st amendment, which includes the conscience clause. You muck with it now, we could have fun mucking with it when a Republican takes over in November. I'll give you a scenario you boneheads. Say we ignore the conscience clause and we were not able to rescind Obamacare. It is a fact that Christians are healthier, so we could mandate that you listen to Joel Osteen 30 minutes per day. See how that works?
This is NOT about contraception, this is about liberty and freedom. Numbskulls.

"So why does the religious freedom of the Catholic Bishops trump the rights of workers who EARN the
benefits?"
Because the religious freedom of the Catholic bishops is protected by the Constitution, the "Rights" of workers to get free birth control pills are not.

That's signature worthy! Saved for future use with permission of course.
