Not enough specifics (http://www.blogthings.com/whatstateshouldyouliveinquiz/)
Mine all came out as states in the south, but neither my wife nor I can tolerate the long, hot, HUMID summers.

That's what the beach is for.
-
Kansas?
Maybe a little. But it lacks big country and cattle. Or, the cattle don't outnumber the humans by a high enough ratio. And trout, elk, antelope, moose, wind, sagebrush, gumbo mud, the northern lights? I'm thinking not.
-
That's what the beach is for.
Would that be Sonova Beach?
-
That quiz is stupid. They said I should live in Alaska, even though I like snow only "sometimes." Other states:
Kansas
Mississippi
Vermont
Virginia
Washington
The same Kansas that voted for Sebellius to be their governor? Vermont, when I said I was very conservative? Now Virginia, I've been eyeing.
-
I got Kansas.
Don't mistake what I say, but while Kansas is fine and dandy with me, Kansas is not Nebraska.
The other five suggestions:
Kentucky
Mississippi
North Carolina
Oklahoma
South Carolina
-
It says I should live in North Carolina...well, the SC/NC state line is about 15 miles north as the crow flies.
Then I get....
Virginia
Alaska
Delaware
Indiana
Maryland
...Virginia maybe but the rest, no to hell no.
-
If you don't want to live in Georgia, you might also consider:
Kentucky
Missouri
North Carolina
Tennessee
Utah
hmmmm.
-
You Should Live in Montana
If you don't want to live in Montana, you might also consider:
Colorado
Iowa
Nevada
Oregon
Alaska
-
I should live in Alaska ??
Funny how I don't much care for temperatures where one has to wear more than a t-shirt (optional) and shorts in mid-winter.
I'd rather go for one of the alternate suggestions of Texas, Alabama or Mississippi.
-

I lived in Wichita for over 2 years. My summation is, it's a great place to live, but you wouldn't want to visit there.
-
This is the answer I got for a skinny, people hating, latta sipping, liberal, atheist....
You Should Live in Massachusetts
If you don't want to live in Massachusetts, you might also consider:
Vermont
Alaska
Colorado
Connecticut
Hawaii
-
You Should Live in Indiana
If you don't want to live in Indiana, you might also consider:
Mississippi
Texas
Alabama
Alaska
Arizona
Who wrote this quiz? The Alaska Chamber of Commerce?

If the mosquitos don't chase you out of Alaska, the football-sized
cow pies bear tracks definitely will. I woke up early one morning to take a whizz outside of our tent and encountered the biggest pile of poo I've ever seen.
Trying to run and pee at the same time didn't work out too well (I was trying to outrun the mosquitos).

Saw a fellow in Alaska wearing a BeeKeeper outfit ...to keep the mosquito's off.

I had a hat, but after the third or fourth day you mostly get used to them. My mistake was choosing to take a leak outside. It was like a banzai attack.
-
What do you call a beekeeper accountant ? A bookkeeper.

Oh the skeeters wouldn't bother me so much - I'm pretty used to them. Have had to do the run-and-pee thing though. That's the one part of the body that's really unsuited to being liberally coated in DEET.
Bears on the other hand.... nawthanks.
We might have 16+ foot carnivorous geckos about these parts but they generally won't bother attacking you unless you pretty much flop yourself down into their dinner bowl.
-
There was one bear near the village, but he was relatively small. Some of the bigger brown bears I saw on the flight over almost made me crap my pants.
-
Alaska.
If you don't want to live in Alaska, you might also consider:
Arkansas
Missouri
Nevada
Iowa
Kansas
Either it honed in on the fact that I don't want to live near people, or this is a site run by the Alaskan Hospitality Board.

Chris--come on up here sometime. The mosquitos up here have landing lights.
And if this state weren't such a soup sandwich sometimes from the liberal dipshits invading from flatlandville, I'd seriously consider retiring in the North Country. 2 BR, 2BA cabin on 5 acres within spitting distance of snowmobile trails and the lake for $140K. Yeah, I can deal.
-
And really, as longview can attest, if you don't like people, MT and WY are also excellent choices, when "major" towns are 5000 people.
Hell, I don't even think Cheyenne has cracked 100K yet. When I lived in Gillette during the first boom in the early 80's, I think it was 15K at the time. Not sure where it is now, but it's up there as far as size within the state.

No snowmobile trails but you could get 100 acres in the most rural part of the county and a cabin a few miles from a great lake for that here.
A lot on the lake however would be about that price....minus the cabin.

My stepfather has family in Billings. Mom goes up there for Christmas and comes back complaining about the single-digit weather.
I think I'll stay in Tennessee.

Single digit? Try West Yellowstone. One of the few places I've ever gone and said to myself, "This is just too damned cold."

Speaking of bears, did you hear the one about the grizzly that passed Timothy Treadwell in the woods ?
-
:rimshot:
-
According to the test results I am actually a perfect fit for my home state, New York.
It also said that I will however never be truly happy here until the throngs of Libtard assholes all self deport for environs more to their liking such as California, Massachusetts, Connecticut and North Korea. :-)
-
:rimshot:
Thank you, I'll be around all month, I think it's black history month. When I hit the bigtime, I want to be booked during white history month.

Indiana isn't much better than Ohio, but it beats New York and California.
-
Mississippi ??
If you don't want to live in Mississippi, you might also consider:
Alabama
Alaska
South Carolina
Texas
Vermont
How does Vermont even rate with those other states?
-
I've only been to MS once. Olive Branch is nice... not much traffic, plenty of space, and not-quite-so-close to Memphis.
-
If you don't want to live in Mississippi, you might also consider:
Alabama
Arkansas
Kansas
Tennessee
Virginia
Have spent time in all of them, and did live in Virgina for 6 years.
I like where we are right know, but the Mrs. wouldn't mind moving to the East Coast again.
It is tough to get fresh seafood here at times.
-
The beach is nice. It's the only way you'd get me to move back to South Massachusetts (North Carolina).
-
What a shock to find out I should live in Arkansas, This grumpy old Yankee would have the KKK down on my ass in a week of moving there. Maybe in a cabin in the back woods on a lake or river, a still on the Hill and some boar hunting dogs.
Have to get me a new Hubby, this one is city breed and has no idea that a water pump has to be primed, or what a log splitter looks like.
-
WTF?
You Should Live in Arizona
If you don't want to live in Arizona, you might also consider:
Delaware
Maryland
Minnesota
Missouri
Virginia
-
WTF?
Yeah, Bally. The first time I took it, it said "Illinois." Illi-****ing-nois?
The second time I took it, it said "Delaware." ::) :runaway: :wtf3:
-
Says I should live in Alaska which is reasonable, considering I'd love to move somewhere north in the future.
-
If you don't want to live in South Carolina, you might also consider:
Texas
Alabama
Georgia
Indiana
Mississippi
As a matter of fact, I'm researching likely retirement states. While we'd planned on retiring in Tennessee (and still may), the incredibly high sales tax takes some examination. Yeah, they don't have an income tax, but many states I've been looking at exempt (at least partially) retirement income/annuities.
Georgia is looking very interesting.

No, I'd move to the NWT if I were to go north. :p
I'd like to visit Alaska though.

You Should Live in Michigan
If you don't want to live in Michigan, you might also consider:
Georgia
Indiana
Missouri
Ohio
Arizona
The hell? Not one of those states interests me in the least. If I had to make a list of six states to live, in no particular order:
Texas
Alaska
Washington
Montana
Wyoming
Virginia
-
:bawl:
We're also looking at Oxford, MS. That's right, I said "Mississippi." The cost of living there is extremely low -- lower than AL, TN, and Georgia -- but the musical opportunities there are limited as well. I have an email into a guy who teaches at Ole Miss - I happened to study trombone with him when we lived in Jackson, TN. I want to hear what he has to say about the brass-playing population there.
It's a numbers game more than anything. AND, I do NOT want any part of extreme cold weather any more. Every year that goes by I get less and less tolerant of snow, ice, sleet, and the rest of that shit.
I also don't want to be paying ludicrous sales tax rates (Jackson, at 9.75%, is one of the highest in TN -- Knoxville and Chattanooga are relatively "low" at 9.25%) -- ridiculous when you have to pay the state that much money for the privilege of buying something there.

Mike, if that computer program told me I'd want to live in Michigan, I'd be slitting my wrists about now. But take heart -- there are parts of Michigan that are relatively sane and tolerable (as long as you're a winter aficionado). I simply had never lived in any of them. And I damn sure am not interested in lake effect snow, ice, etc. (see the post above).
-
I don't know what makes me smile more. Compaq moving NORTH to Alaska, or Eupher moving SOUTH to Mississippi.
:-)
-
Odin's Hand...you define "Oklahoma".
Hell yeah!

Why the **** is MS on everyone of those. I wouldn't live there again unless someone paid me $1 Million a year. State Income Tax for starters.... Nasty ass place.
-
Meh, I lived in Meridian for awhile. Not too bad.
-
My brother's lived in Mississippi for over 25 years now, and he's a yankee! Loves it. Eupher, you may want to investigate the music opportunities more. He's made a very good living repairing musical instruments there for 25-30 years. He works almost exclusively with brass. Something's generating all the work. Look up Mississippi Music, the business.

Both of my Trombones came from Mississippi Music in Jackson.

Wow, bought many a trumpet from Mississippi Music when I was in band 20+ years ago. As I got older I bought I few guitars there and tons of strings. Small small world.
-
Where did you live?
Jackson, Clinton, Byram, North Jackson, Madison, and Brandon.
-
Jackson, Clinton, Byram, North Jackson, Madison, and Brandon.
Lived in the first 3, born in the last.

Hmmm. Mississippi Music appears to be a chain music store, with branches in Hattiesburg, Jackson/Flowood, Meridian, and Biloxi.
Those are all locations a bit too far south for where we might wind up. And, I suspect, the closer you get to Louisiana, the more brass playing you'll find. One thing I learned about Oxford was the sheer amount of Zydeco, Blues, Dixieland, and, of course Bluegrass (though Bluegrass ain't necessarily LA-based!)
It's early in the game yet. Hell, as far as I know right now, we might wind up in freakin' Bangkok. :banghead:
-

Waaaaaaay too far up for me. I lived in Gulfport. Home of miles of brown beach.

That or 5-10 consecutive Cat V hurricanes pounding Deer, Cat, and Ship Island.

North Carolina
Texas
hmmm
alaska for six months in the summer and then inland north carolina for the rest.

Mine said Alaska. Hmmmm isn't the man/woman ratio like 10 to 1?? Maybe I should start investigating?? Two others were Georgia and Arkansas.

Awwww, Ship Island was the BEST thing about the MGC. And McElroys, and Anjacs!

This is weird. I took the quiz and it told me that I should live in Wisconsin(where I do live)--after answering that I don't like snow. I guess I probably deserve to live here.
-
Do tell.
Mebbe some time. Gotta wait for the right moment.

We have to do something to get that Yankee-assed named fort off of our coast. :stirpot:

You Should Live in North Carolina
Post it now!
If you don't want to live in North Carolina, you might also consider:
Virginia
Alabama
Alaska
California
Connecticut
Out of the 6, I've lived in 4, so, batting average .667 !
-
Kansas?
Maybe a little. But it lacks big country and cattle. Or, the cattle don't outnumber the humans by a high enough ratio. And trout, elk, antelope, moose, wind, sagebrush, gumbo mud, the northern lights? I'm thinking not.
You live in Idaho Long?
I was born in Kansas, worked their for a while when I was a youngster. I operated a pellet mill for about 6 months and worked my uncles farm for a few years. The pellet mill was 9 miles away, and I could see the SOB from my front porch!
I moved to Denver! Denver was too crowded, so, I moved to Califorinca. That place is a shithole! So, I moved to Oregon. It was fine for a while, but the frikkin liberals took it over too!
I ended up here in Idaho, about 40 miles from the Canuck border. Been here since about '83 I think. I'm gettin' old and senile, so I could be off a coupla years.
This is truly God's country, and I will never leave it! 4 seasons, huntrin', fishin', and people who think like I do.
Besides, I am takin' care of 22 horses and mules, about 30 calves every spring, and about 80 acres of hay. Couldn't leave now if I wanted to.

I got Hawaii. I really should live there. I think I left my heart there and I should go back and get it.

Arizona was first ------- well maybe?
alternatives;
Georgia ---- close now
Alabama --- for the last 9 years
Florida ----- before AL - for almost 20 years, don't miss high taxes and insurance rates, plus traffic
Indiana ---- To much like lower part of Michigan where I left
Illinois ----- see above, besides to liberal, and to close to sister

I haven't seen Tennessee on this list once.
Maybe that's a good thing.
-

Frickin' sales taxes are too high. And the property taxes are getting to be ridiculous as well (though where I'm living now is entirely too much).
Aw, hell. I just hate payin' taxes. Period.
-
We have a Republican governor now... maybe he'll do something about that since the state is taking in more money than it spends.
-
Started out in California. Then:
Minnesota
California
Minnesota
Montana
Regina, Saskatchewan
Ended up in Minnesota.

I got Georgia.
I'm quite fine with Kansas though. Born and raised right here in Wichita. I don't live in Wichita though. Just work.
