Today, for the first time this cycle, multiple states hold their Republican presidential nomination contests on one day, two caucuses (Colorado and Minnesota) and one primary (Missouri). They all have two things in common. First, none of them are binding, so no delegates will be formally assigned from the vote. Second, they all represent Rick Santorum’s best shot at changing the trajectory of this race and positioning himself as the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney. One final series of snap polls from PPP shows Santorum with a double-digit lead in Missouri, and nearly as much of a lead in Minnesota:
Rick Santorum could be headed for a big day in today’s contests in Colorado, Minnesota, and Missouri. Missouri looks like a probable win for Santorum. He’s at 45% there to 32% for Mitt Romney and 19% for Paul. Minnesota provides an opportunity for a win as well. Currently he has a small advantage with 33% to 24% for Romney, 22% for Newt Gingrich, and 20% for Ron Paul. And Santorum should get a second place finish in Colorado, where Romney appears to be the likely winner. The standings there are Romney at 37%, Santorum at 27%, Gingrich at 21%, and Paul at 13%.

Unfortunately Gingrich (for some unknown reason) is not on the Missouri ballot......

Yes, apparently his organization failed to get his name on it. Some snark about this on TV this morning, but honestly the way our state has run this 'Beauty contest' primary and then imposed the suck of caucuses on us has been a cluster**** info-vacuum from start to finish.

I'll vote for Santorum in today's primary before I vote for Romney. At least Santorum has the courage of his convictions. Romney's courage is nonexistent beyond holding up a finger to gauge how the wind is blowing.

That's what we did......you can vote "uncommitted", at least on our ballot.

As a registered independent, I am ineligible to vote in the GOP primary in my state.
If I were to vote, it would be for Santorum.

i wanted to go "caucus" but i didnt put in for leave soon enough
i wish it was a simple primary, vote and go instead.

That's the one advantage of Florida, at least it was a simple primary.
Missouri should give Santorum a boost and help in his fund raising. At least this time Missouri should have a say in who will be the candidate. Last time when I voted in Missouri everything was pretty much decided already by the time they had their primary.

The 2012 Republican delegate count does not have a clear winner. It has to be the closest. Gingrich may have carried South Carolina, which the candidate becomes the nominated.

Yeah--NY's primary isn't until Super Tuesday. My wife was saying that her office is all abuzz that they'll actually have a say in who the nominee is.

When the election workers asked me which ballot I wanted, meaning either Republican or Democrat, I asked, "How about the ballot for those who are disaffected by BOTH major parties?" and that got a bit of a laugh.
I voted for Santorum in yesterday's "exercise" in Missouri, and according to the news accounts he did very well.
I saw the "uncommitted" section of the ballot, but as this "exercise" was just that and non-binding, I thought it was pointless and even a little stupid to indicate "uncommitted."
Granted, I'm not sold on Santorum for reasons expressed elsewhere on CC, but he was the best option on the ballot. So that's what my Sharpie marked.
No other issues were on the Republican ballot. No local tax or millage issues at all.
