On DU You See It Everywhere. Constantly.
I was feeling brave (or stupid, hard to tell in the early A.M.) when I woke up, so I went for a stroll around FP, Red State, and a few other "conservative"/radical/fanatical blogs they link to, while I tried to drink my coffee. Normally, I'll pop in at one of these sites to laugh at a particularily funny item someone else found, and then I'm right back out of there. I can't breath the air in those places...
But this morning, I waded in deeper than I've ever been. I read dozens of diaries and threads and articles; well, "read" may be too strong a term...browsed is probably more appropriate, though I did actually read a few of them. Man, but that was painfull...my brain still hurts...I think...
Anyway, after about an hour and a half total spent amongst these various "conservative"/radical/fanatical sites, I was suddenly struck by the realization that the one thing I am so accustomed to seeing constantly, everywhere on DU (and other liberal sites), was conspicuously absent: Viable source links to verifiable facts.
Oh, there are links, but of the circular type, i.e., RS quotes "facts," giving a source link to a thread on FP, which linked to Michelle Malkin's site, who was quoting Ann Coulter, and so on. On RS, Eric (site founder I guess) is the most linked to source - and his stuff is mostly on RS!! Round and round and round and round and round...
It really makes me dizzy, trying to follow their "logic" - the readers and authors at these sites are apparently blind to every logical fallacy in the book, and their arguments are backed up either by NO facts, or twisted and convoulted "proofs" which USED to be facts...until their OP's got hold of them. And, the best part? They call it "truth." Truth! HA! I'd actually laugh, but it's really not so funny to me anymore...
I just do not understand how people who believe they are conservatives can consider themselves informed, when they work with so few facts. Talk about tinfoil hats! My God, all these people are doing, apparently, is playing a game of "follow the leader."
And the hate! Boiled down, all these sites offer is hatred - there is no hope offered, only dire consequences, and there is absolutely no joy - no joy at all!! - other than that which can be wrought at a "lesser" person's expense...and such celebrations, upon the backs of others, are far from genuinely joyfull. They are a people so miserably unhappy, it is simply astonishing they can function at all.
I have to be honest and admit that I toyed with the idea of staying home and not voting this November, as Obama has pissed me off with some of his non-progressive choices - but **** THAT. I'll be voting, and voting for Obama - count on it.
The "other side" - and this isn't hyperbole, I say this with all sincerity - is literally insane. To purposely believe as they do, to choose ignorance in favor of ego - is so unbeievably deranged, I am, well, completely flabbergasted.
They didn't board the crazy train - they picked it up and moved it off the ****ing tracks completely...

8. I've noticed that too--they refer to their own media figures
and RW think tanks for proof of their points, if they do it at all. Really, their beliefs are their facts, and anyone else who believes what they believe becomes a credible reference. You certainly can't trust that librul media, or government, or academia--they're all liars. They say things that challenge your beliefs.
Instead of such reliable places like Alternet and Truthout as the DUmp always cites. :rotf:

6. I have this experience a lot when talking to people. They make statements as if they are FACT...
but when you ask them to back it up, they become affronted. When I try, even gently, to tell them that I am less interested in their 'opinions' and more interested in what they can PROVE, the get really, really affronted.
And I have also noticed that the right has just completely gone batshit nuts in spectacular style.
We have had several leftists sign up and freely post here,when asked to present evidence to support assertions like the country was founded to provide for the common good they run away.

I have always maintained that the hard-right ideology, if you want to call it that, is fundamentally fear-based. And these idiots have taken all their fears - foreigners, people of color, "socialism," The End Of America, all that made-up shit that has them wetting themselves every time they turn on their AM radios - and turned them back on themselves. They are scaring themselves with the echos they made in their padded cells.
Poor, dumb fools. What a miserable way to live.

That's a good question. Anyway, they wholesale reject any link that isn't Truthout or Alternet. Or the Daily Worker, or that Socialist website Steve Dawes goes to. If anyone supplies a link to a normal media outlet, they'll start howling about it. At the very least it is a corporation, and so anything they have to say is complete crap.
Do they have any idea how foolish these ain't-we-grand threads make them look?

Yep. I can't see I've ever seen them post a link from an unbiased source to back up a claim, it is always some advocacy group for the cause being touted, political/ideological group, or windbag who just makes shit up like Leopold in his heyday on Pitt's TruthOutTheWindow site.

I've seen links on DU to other sites, that if the chain were followed, that originated on DU. Liberal blogs and forums form a huge circle jerk and pass off their own editorials as legitimate news stories.

I'm not miserable -
I'm married, have three kids, and a house. We pay our bills, and use the leftovers to improve our lives. I have a couple of hobbies, as well as friends and family. I'm happy at my job, that pays quite well for the work I do.
Honestly, I cannot think of anyone on this site thats always depressed and unhappy with life. However, I can think of about a dozen depressed DUers right off the top of my head.
Oh, and every post I make here where I do refer to something as a fact, I do provide a link - and if it is something specifically directed at members of DU, I do my best to use one of your 'approved' sources to do so- and that often includes your own words, DUmbasses.

1. The DUmp is all about hatred. Every other thread there is these sociopaths venting their immense, rabid hatred of conservatives, Christians, any prominent Republican, and all kinds of other things. Hatred defines the DUmmies' lives.

Consider a) How many threads have the DUmmies whining about how much they hate their country and think it's a fascist police state without any hope, and b) How many threads have the DUmmies whining about things that most Americans derive a great deal of joy from, such as holidays (Especially Thanksgiving, any holiday based around the Christian religion such as Christmas and Easter, and any holiday which celebrates America in any way such as Independence Day and Memorial Day). Just a few days ago, there was a thread with the DUmmies talking about how the Superbowl is nothng more than a kind of mass brainwashing.
3. Only joy "which can be wrought at a "lesser" person's expense." The DUmp excels at that, too. Consider any DU thread which centers around a prominent Republican/ conservative either dying or becoming extremely ill

If you click their links almost half are to things that have nothing to do with their post and the other half a quarter are to leftist rags and the other quarter to leftist opinion blogs.

I've seen it happen where a DUmmy will post an OP with a link, Daily Mail for example. If the article is favorable to their point of view, they fall all over themselves with K&R galore.
If however, the article is NOT favorable, that same source is not credible, is a rag, and so on.
They just swing back and forth like a field of kelp in a changing tide.

No, cupcake. You say things that challenge reality, you cover-up fact with allusions to faulty and corrupt authority and you butt-rape common sense.

After 3 minutes of reading the citings I replied, asking him if he had bothered to notice that about 85% of the citings were from previous articles by the 5 co-authors, citing themselves. He never replied back.
