A retired Army general and terrorism expert says he decided it was in the best interest of all parties involved to voluntarily withdraw from speaking at an upcoming prayer breakfast at the U.S. Military Academy. (See earlier article)
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) teamed up with the liberal veterans group VoteVets.org and with anti-Christian crusader Mikey Weinstein of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation to petition West Point to disinvite Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin (USA-Ret.) from the February 8 event.
They claimed that allowing Boykin, a former military intelligence officer and an original member of Delta Force, to speak would be disrespectful to Muslim cadets. They cited what they describe as "Islamophobic" comments he made during church appearances in 2002 and 2003 in which he portrayed America's fight against terrorism as a Christian fight against Satan.
In an interview Tuesday morning, Boykin told OneNewsNow that the pressure on the Academy regarding his scheduled participation in the prayer breakfast was overpowering.
William Boykin"It became very obvious that the stress on West Point was getting out of control to the point that was being a distraction for them," says Boykin. "And I withdrew from the event, realizing that it had become so overpowering for them that quite frankly they couldn't deal with the continued pressure from these organizations ... so I withdrew."

People need to start speaking out against these goons en masse. Don't like it here, take your sorry asses to the Middle East, Ibrahim and the rest of you backwards neanderthals. :bird:
BTW, why'd he pull out? This is a fight worth fighting, General.

The article said that the pressure that CAIR et. al. was exhibiting on West Point was becoming too much of a distraction for them.
Seems rather generous of him to do that in one sense, but it also leaves the impression that he caved.

Why are we educating the very ones that will lead the horde against us?

VoteVets, eh? Jonn will be interested to get this one.

It seems pretty clear that the Superintendent offered the opportunity for Boykin to un-invite himself, rather than the alternative of pulling the invitation. I don't know much about votevets.org other than what the linked article said and that their web site says they're a PAC.
They take a decidedly different tone than the OP.
Plans for a talk at West Point by a retired general known for his harshly anti-Muslim remarks were abruptly canceled on Monday after a growing list of liberal veterans' groups, civil liberties advocates and Muslim organizations called on the Military Academy to rescind the invitation.
Lt. Gen William G. Boykin "has decided to withdraw speaking at West Point's National Prayer Breakfast" on Feb. 8, said a statement issued Monday by the academy's office of public affairs. "In fulfilling its commitment to the community, the United States Military Academy will feature another speaker for the event."
General Boykin, a longtime commander of Special Operations forces, first caused controversy after the Sept. 11 attacks when, as a senior Pentagon official, he described the fight against terrorism as a Christian battle against Satan. His remarks, made in numerous speeches to church groups, werepublicly repudiated by President George W. Bush, who argued that America's war was not with Islam but with violent fanatics.
