A proud Democrat at 18

So I'm finally 18 -- I have since November 27th.

As I watched the GOP Debate Thursday night (is this the 200th debate?), all I could say to myself is, "I'm with the working class party," and that would be the Democratic Party. When I was in middle school in 2007 and 2008, I was volunteering for Barack Obama. Now, I'm a senior in high school. And my first presidential vote will be for President Obama. We can't go back to Bush era policies.

I posted this on Daily Kos this past October:

On November 27th, I will turn 18 years old. When I first joined DailyKos in 2008, I was 14 and freshman in high school. Now, I am a senior. A lot has changed since then. I transferred to a new school, only to return a year later to attend two business classes. I own a very small business designing websites.
But what has not changed is my support for President Barack Obama. I am even more committed to supporting our President. I have seen President Obama working to repair the mistakes of George W. Bush. He has been fighting for healthcare reform. He has been fighting for job creation. He has been fighting for the middle class.

Earlier this year, my republican Governor Scott Walker launched an attack on the middle class in Wisconsin. He attacked working families, stripping away the rights of 175,000 workers in my state. Governor Walker and the republicans made devastating cuts to our health care, including programs for the poor, disabled, and elderly.

If that wasn’t enough for me turn 100% democrat, Governor Walker and the republicans slashed $1.6 billion from public schools, while handing out $35 million for private school vouchers and caused tuition hikes for college students and massive cuts to the University of Wisconsin and tech college systems. Both of these hit close to me. I’ve been in the public school system since Early Childhood. I believe I’ve received the best education by my public educators in Sheboygan.

I could go on and on but there is just too much to be pissed off about at the republicans who are destroying our country.

They want make major cuts to the Federal Pell Grant Program, a program that I will apply and hopefully receive a grant due to my hardships and financial situation. Oh, and I am one of 170 million Americans who support public broadcasting. They want to eliminate funding for PBS and NPR. I’ve been watching PBS since I was two. Now, I watch PBS NewsHour, This Old House, NOVA ad other educational programs. And I enjoy listening to NPR in the morning and the classical music network that Wisconsin Public Radio offers.

President Obama is working his hardest. I see that. I hear that. I have faith in our president and I hope you do too. You cannot expect our problems to be solved our night. It’s going to take more than two or four years to solve our country’s problems. And I know that!

No matter what occurs, I will never vote for a republican. It’s not even an option to me.

And tonight, at the Western Republican Debate, the republicans did not offer any new solutions. It’s the same old – same old. They haven’t offered any new solutions in 2008 and that’s why the voters of the United States voted for Barack. I will be doing the same next year.

I care so deeply about the future of our country and my state, I have decided to run for the Wisconsin State Assembly. I did not make this decision lightly, but have decided that someone needs to be the voice for the voiceless in Madison, Wisconsin.

Please consider donating $5, $10 or $20 to my grassroots campaign on ActBlue at http://secure.actblue.com/entity/fundraisers/28775?ref=asher_actblue. Your support and donation will allow my campaign to contact nearly 75,000 voters in the 26th Assembly District.

With your support and love, I know we can move Wisconsin forward in a positive direction.

That's a lot of words to say "I'm 18 and have already decided I don't want to even try to make it on my own through life and need the gov't to tell me what to do.  Send money here..."

.

This Old House sucks ass. The only ones who knew a damn thing about homebuilding on there was Norm and the parade of nameless contractors. NOVA has become a bullhorn for the liberal, preconceived-results community for the cause-du-jour in the world of "science" and NPR is in the pocket of Muhammad's Merry Band of Cut-throat Savages, or as they refer to themselves as "CAIR".

To Asher, the working class is the libs that sit on their internet all day bitching about how nothing is handed to them.

8. My thoughts...

Out of 8 candidates, someone had to come in last. In my city, they seem to make many mistakes when it comes to voting the wrong person in office. From Mayor to alderman.

Hopefully, people will see that I have something positive to offer and that I STAND WITH THE WORKING CLASS.

Figured that would happen the minute I saw his beg for donations.
Donations are tolerated only if they go to Skammer.

My Grandparents were working class, my Parents were working class, my Aunts, Unlces, Cousins were/are working class, my Husbands Family were and still are working class, we all vote, and percentage-wise? about 98% of us vote Republican. We can stand up for ourselves TYVM, we don't need people to stand up for us.
