Created by the American Pie Council, National Pie Day is dedicated to the celebration of pie. As part of our American heritage, this day is a perfect opportunity to pass on the love and enjoyment of pie eating and pie making to future generations. The American Pie Council® is encouraging pie lovers across the nation to throw a pie party in celebration of National Pie Day. Hosting a pie baking - and pie tasting - party for friends or coworkers, or to raise money for a favorite charity, are all delicious ways to celebrate on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012. Why is National Pie Day celebrated on Jan. 23 or 1/23? Because celebrating the wholesome goodness of pie is as easy as 1-2-3.
Other holidays may be marked by a day off from work or aisles full of cards, candy and gifts in the drug stores, but National Pie Day is the only holiday that's all about indulging in America's favorite dessert-pie-and sharing it with friends and loved ones. Although 2011 was officially dubbed "The Year of the Pie" this versatile dessert shows no signs of crumbling in the popularity polls anytime soon… Served warm or cold, sweet or savory, one crust or two, a la mode or a la carte, by the slice or straight from the pan, pie was, and still is, HOT, HOT, HOT. ...

And in all of the festivities nary a mention of peach cobbler? :panic:
Racists!!!
-
Yeah, that absence of peach cobbler is a serious issue.
It's the pits.

For one so young you sure are turning into a crusty old geezer. :-)

I've always preferred pipe to cake. If someone in the family bakes me something for my birthday, they all know to make it a pie.

It's the lard in my ass that does it. :rotf:
Nope, ya gotta be true enough to cut out the bruises, keep the fat cold, and handle the dough with gentlemanly aplomb.

Pie...I like pie.
