Why do we have to "Work so Hard" to make a living?
I hear all these politicians say over and over again this schtick about woking hard, making it, and getting ahead... Why? Why do we all have to "work hard" to have the basics of life, and these days, wages are basically paying for nothing, let alone allowing for one to "get ahead".
We have more technology and items that should make our lives better and easier. Shouldn't the technology and the innovations of our modern world allow for us to have better and easier lives where we can use the technology to work smartly, less during the day, and have more time for "freedom" and carefree ease?
AND exactly why do we have to work so damned hard to make ends meet, yet those with the most (inherited a lot of the time), wouldn't know what "work hard" even means?
I personally work a minimum of 42 hrs a week. The pay is less than I used to make before the recession, however, every tangible real cost has increased in my life... like food, electric rates, gas, insurance rates, etc... And I still have all of those other things in my life to attend to like cooking and cleaning and child rearing... I'm sorry, but with all the technology and with the other half of the gender species being able to enter the work force, I shouldn't be this tired and dragging all the time. I should have more time. I should have enough $ to pay my bills and enjoy a vacation. AND I certainly don't think I should have to work even harder to "make it" or "get ahead".
No, I'm tired of the meme. We as a nation, are on the go and worked to death. They keep us on the rat wheel running faster and faster trying to get that dangling treat, and we are literally running faster in circles and going no where. If Occupy could come up with One Demand that would appeal to people the most, I think that would be a great place to start with.... People ask why Americans are so apathetic. We aren't apathetic, we are tired and we're being worked to death. AND that rat wheel is so nearly impossible to escape from because escaping the wheel normally means losing one's home, or health care, or basic ability to buy food to eat.
If Americans had the time to stop, think, ponder, gather with friends, enjoy their families, be able to travel around the country or the world.... we might actually be able to Unite and create the type of country we know we could have.
The question gets answered :whatever:

7. Thank God.. I'm tired of a Job Defining me.
I'm so much more than my job.. So many people ask that as a normal thing.. like your job is you. Its a means to being able to pay bills... So few people have jobs or careers they enjoy.. And if people could freely set up their own lives, their livelihoods would be much cooler and people would enjoy life so much more...
I love to knit, crochet, and quilt. I love it. Its what I would do for a "job"... along with Gardening and creating awesome meals with fresh veggies and herbs and spices I've grown myself.... I would love to have something neat-o like that... But I need health insurance.. so, what am I going to do?
I'm shocked. NOT. Now for more truth.

15. I don't have that many years in yet, but I too am finding the "hard work"
completely over rated, and totally unnecessary... We just don't need to work so hard, so long, for nothing at the end of the day. Its kinda crazy that 99% of us are doing this like this.
I want it, give it to me, I deserve it.
Sucks to be a DUmmy.

Just wait until the 0bama hyperinflation hits you. Most of the world spends 35%-65% of their income on food. We in the USA spend 8-12%. If you are on the food stamps you spend nothing.
-
Lazy-assed DUmmies. That's all. Just lazy.

Uh huh.
That's something that's concerned me for a long time.
Every time I've heard the primitives whine about grocery prices, I take myself back to the socialist paradises of the workers and peasants, where 67-75% of what they earned, went for food.
-
Working hard builds character, and it also makes one not want to vote Democrat, since you work hard for what you got, you actually want to have your money.
-
"Why do we have to work so hard"
because you dont have the ambition/skills to work in a field that pays better for less work???
-
Tired ass pieces of shit. You don't even know what work is. Spend one day in my shoes and you would most likely have to be hospitalized! I on the other hand come home and tend my garden, chickens, rabbits and build bamboo fly rods. Why do I work so hard. Because I love my independence. I need nothing from no one. Something you asshats don't understand.
-
Poor DUmmies.
They can't even do basic math. Your lives have all seemed to go downward after Obama took office. If you want things to change for you, vote for someone else on November 8th. ;)
-
Working hard builds character, and it also makes one not want to vote Democrat, since you work hard for what you got, you actually want to have your money.
Again, it reminds me of conditions in the socialist paradises of the workers and peasants.
This primitive has nothing to complain about.....unless she has small children and works 12+ hours a day six days a week and spends at least 5-6 hours per day waiting in line and she has a quarter of an acre or so where much of the family food is grown.
If she has to put up with that, then she's got something to complain about.
-
Because I don't want to have to take care of your sorry ass.
Seriously, what planet do these idiots come from? Our forefathers- who spilled their blood, sweat and tears just to survive- would slap the shit out of these whiny assholes.
-
DUmmies working...? Working hard...?
ZERO BONGS!!!!
:nobong:
-
Well, unfortunately, this DUmbass's whining is no black mark against the state of the economy or the jug-eared Kenyan's stewardship of it.
These democrat drones lived a hard life even during the Great Bush Prosperity, and most of their forebears managed to miss the thundering avalanche of affluence that President Reagan gave to the entire free world.
There must be a genetic component to failure.
-
That dim bulb needs to take that story up somewhere around the roof of Nebraska.
I'd even buy the little piker breakfast just to hear him whine to the farmers about how hard he works, 42 hours a week.
Sure would be funny to watch him walk out of town with a John Deere stuffed up his ass.

My goodness Dummie!!! Let me enlighten you on how to get ahead. Let me give you some advice I got from Pa Perky when I started really working at 16. He said: "You wanna get ahead boy? Then you got 4 options. 1. Come up with something everybody else wants or needs and nobody else sells. 2. Work harder than everyone else. 3. Be the best in your chosen field. 4. Some combo of one thru three. Now chances are boy, 1 ain't gonna happen, so look to 2 and 3."
Well I never could come up with number 1, so I concentrated on 2 and 3. Guess what dummie? I'm pretty successful. I did 2 for 20 some years until I got to number 3. Now I set my hours, and they are about 50 a week. I come in when I want, I leave when I want, and I do what I want. The boss don't care cause I make it happen.
See how it works now dummie?

My karate teacher has a part time job that pays for all his wants and needs. He teaches karate. Part time. 2 hours Monday, 1-3 hours Tues, 1-3 hours Wednesday and 1 hour Thursdays, that's it.
As a hobby, he does yard work for an elderly lady in town, for free.
If you love what you do, you'll never work another day.
-
These are the same people who tell you we need more food, housing, healthcare and infrastructure...
...as if farmers, carpenters, medical professions and road crews don't work hard.
-
Oh for ****s sake! Must be miserable to work with these people. Do these people take pride in nothing? Why not do the best you can at what you do? There's something great about every job. I don't exactly enjoy cleaning chicken coops & goat pens but the perks far outweigh the negatives. I love watching my chickens run around the yard hunting & pecking for tasty tidbits. And roosters have so many quirky antics they make my chuckle every day. Heck, our tractor broke this year and I had to do most of the big gardening chores by hand. So what? It was great exercise and I was outside in the fresh air every day. I spend 2-3 months in the fall picking and canning apples. Prior to that it's peaches & plums but I only have 2 peach trees and 3 plum...one yellow and 2 prune so I can process those in about a week. Between peaches & apples it's blackberries. Since they're my favorite fruit taking them out of the freezer in the dead of winter is heaven! And when I open a jar of homemade applesauce or dump a jar of apple pie mix in a pie crust it's worth it. Why not see the benefit of working because if these people had all the leisure time they think they deserve they'd still have something to bitch about.

It does. The technology is robotics. They replaced your worthless ass.
The don't purposely break equipment so as to get a break.
They don't come to work high. In fact, they don't call in sick at all.
They don't give the supervisor a hard time and call the union because they were asked to do the job that they were paid to do.
They don't go on strike.
They don't demand exorbitant wages.
They don't vote democrat.

That "John Deere" had better be a toy, because the real deal isn't cheap, even the used ones, and I doubt the owner of said "John Deere" would be laughing, regardless if it was either.
That said, I worked a minimum 14-16 hours a day growing up on a dairy farm, from the time I was 8 until I started driving a truck at 22. For the next 20 or so years, 50-60 hour weeks were the norm, usually doing 50+ hours in 3 days, every other week.
Today, I work a the USPS, still put in 40-50 hours per week, 6 days a week, repair cars for the rural route carriers and build custom right-hand drive conversions for use to deliver mail.
IOW, I've never had time to whine and bitch about how much someone else has, how much I don't have, and could care less either way. I DO whine and bitch about how much these jokers called FICA, FED WHD, and to a lesser extent, STATE WHD, take from me every other week. I'm sure a lot of that ends up in DUmmie's pockets.

Not to indict the entire federal work force, but I worked alongside too many of these folks when I was in fed employ. Well, I and a few others 'worked' and carried a bunch of whiney baby neer-do-well's behind us.
I didn't like what I did, but did the best I could and put in a honest day. Too many thought of the fed as another entitlement program where someone else is expected to pick up your slack.
I wish I could remember who made a statement recently on a political program that if you don't like the work you won't be any good at it. That's not true of everyone. I actually like to work and think that most people have a yearning for it unless it's been conditioned through a couple of generations to sit around on your hands. He would have been more clear had he said 'if you don't like to work you won't be any good at it,' which I do think applies.
-
42 hours a week? Oh, if only.
Memo to DUmmies--just looking at the last 3 years, I've AVERAGED 55-57 hours per week in each of those years. Meaning the few weeks I do work 40 hours (not a whole lot of them) or am on vacation means I'm having to work 65-70 hours per week to maintain that average.
IOW, I can usually depend on a 60-hour plus week when I'm not in training or on vacation. Even then there's always the possibility of being asked to come in.
And this job is ****ing cake compared to being on a boat, shitsticks. Try going 60 hours STRAIGHT, no sleep, going home for 12 hours, and doing it again. That's inport. At sea, 20 hour days are not at all unusual.

Work, what is work anyway, can be and mean many things to people.
What is the cost to some one with a stay at home partner, full time janitors, child care, laundry experts, cooks, yard cleaners, part time teachers to help the kids with school work, Secretary and bill payer, medical provider, pet trainer, Hostest to company, door man, responsible for the safety of the home and one that will know when to greet you after work with a stiff drink when needed.
Bundel all this up with the partner having a full time job outside the house. Takes a team effort to keep the few hours both have at home. Where do the PTA and teachers conferences come in here, vacation is a foreign word.
My generation loved Maynard G Krebs, until the dude went into the Army with his friend Dobey a friend that was raised on the work ethic. Now our bongo playing Hippie had to become responsible and WORK for a living. Needless to say, this idea ended the sit com in a season or so.
Does it ever end, work ,of some kind, NOPE, even when after a life time of work and retirement still there are responcibilitys that add up to WORK.
The ONLY time one quits some kind of work is when in Jail, a nursing home or in the grave.
What is so wrong with work, has this become a mantra of Americans now that work is bad for your health??

I would invite the DUmmie to try rice fumigation sometime. Haul a rolled up 80/100 ft X 20 ft plastic tarp on your back up a pile of rice (un-hulled) roughly 18ft tall 5-6 times. Then go back up the pile (again) with bottles of Phostoxin and throw it (tablets) by handfuls into the top and sides of the pile until the whole mound (usually anywhere from 10 to 40 thousand tons) of rice is "shot". At the same time taking said tarps and unfolding them, lining them up side to side and taping together before the Phos releases (seals up the rice pile). Oh, this is while you are inside a standard concrete walled tilt up wherehouse in the middle of summer.
I did this for 3 years.
All for $3.25 hr.
THAT was hard work DUmbass.

120. Put the top 20% to work at manual labor
Everyone talks about the 1%, but isn't the problem the 20%?
I know it sounds cooler to say "We are the 99%" than "we are the 80%", but lets face it, those other 19% have a pretty comfortable life too. Time for their gravy train to screech to a halt.
We need to bring them down to size. Seize their bank accounts, homes, cars, bling, and investments and give it to the Federal government for equitable distribution or re-purposing. Make the thieves pay by losing their ill-gotten gains and going to work cleaning trash and fixing houses. If they refuse, they get a 3 meter by 3 meter cell to spend 23 hours a day in.
It's time to quit coddling the comfortable 60,000,000 while 240,000,000 people in America are living in deprivation.

133. Really? Really? Really?
According to Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Income_in_the_United_States the top 20% of household income is $92,000+. So you want to take two married teachers each earning $46,000 per year and "bring them down to size" and "Seize their bank accounts, homes, cars, bling, and investments" and you consider them "thieves" and everything they have to be "ill-gotten gains". Or how about a plumber that busts his ass 70 hours per week and earns $92,000.
This sort of infantile jealousy and ranting does NOT help progressive causes. When most people hear this sort of rhetoric it just turns them off.

2 married teachers each earning $46,000 per year: You are saying you want to "bring them down to size" and "seize their bank accounts, homes, cars, bling, and investments" and you consider them "thieves" and everything they have to be "ill-gotten gains".
So now we know what you want to do with current crop teachers. Since, according to you, most teachers will be either (1) forced to do manual labor, or (2) spending 23 hours per day in a 3 meter by 3 meter cell; I'm guessing your proposal is to limit teacher salaries too for new teachers.
So what is the upper limit you will allow a teacher to earn before you force them into a 3x3 cell?
And the commies come out from the woodwork, such as the execrable TBF. I guess we know all we need to know about FrodosPet. A real asshole.

I just heard on the news that according to the IRS:
Those that made $250,000 a year or more (2.5 million americans) pay 45% of all taxes in 2009. A total of $395B.
If the government confiscated ALL taxable income (that means everyone) it would take over three years to pay down the debt (this is without spending another dime). Our current debt is $15+ trillion for you DUmmies who don't give a shit.
