Though a Democrat, she supports a fair few things that I do as well. Cool lady. She didn't deserve the tragedy that happened at all, and I wish her the best in her future recovery. Very strong woman. Sorry to see her go.

Best wishes.
-
God bless and Godspeed on her recovery.

Ditto what Revo said. We are losing one of the good ones.
On a positive note her husband is also recently retired and so now the two of them can both look back on highly successful careers in service to their country and they have an open road and the rest of their lives together ahead of them. That's pretty cool I think. :cheersmate:

I'm glad she came to that decision on her own. The people of Arizona deserve competent representation... a lesser person would have stayed in office.
I wish her and her family the best.

God bless and Godspeed on her recovery.
Ditto on that and for making a courageous decision.

I didn't know much about her prior to the tragic events that put her in the spotlight. But from what I've read since, I agree completely with what you wrote. My best wishes to her and her family for a long and happy retirement.
-
Not one member of Congress deserved what happened to her. All she was doing was her job. I hope that she recovers as completely as possible and has a long and happy life.
-
Her recovery has been nothing short of miraculous and I continue to pray for her.
-
I agree with all of you. Continued prayer for her complete recovery.

:yeahthat:
For more than a year, her district has not been represented. To prolong this decision would be selfish and I just don't think that she's wired that way. Good luck, Gabby, and best wishes.
-
^yeah that. I wish her all the best.
-
Wishing her and her family the best.
-
Best wishes Gabby. May you continue to recover and be blessed.
-
She didn't deserve being shot. She's acting honorably by giving up her position so her district can be represented. The dems did use her one last time to vote for raising the debt limit.
Is hers a "safe" Dem district?
At any rate, I wish her and her hubby all the best.

Good for her, it's the right thing to do. I hope that she continues to recover and that she continues to be blessed.
-
Best wishes to her and her family, and all the families who were victimized by that psycho.

I'll second that!

I just hope we don't see any "Giffords" gun bills.
-
It's a shame, that in the end, the psycho may have achieved part of his ambitions.
No one should go out like this. Best wishes and prayers to her in her recovery, along with all of those tragically harmed that day.

courage

does the governor get to appoint someone to fill her shoes for the remainder of her term?
thats how it works in MN.

I believe for Representatives the Constitution requires they hold an election. Senators can be appointed.
-
bet it will go to a dem out of sympathy

Miraculous recovery...long and tough one. That's one brave woman. God bless her and her husband.
